(11 - 8 ) + (11 - 16) = -2 DMG
Despite Ryuu's best efforts, even as his jaws clamped down upon the Nincada's hide he'd find they went no further. Yes, he'd managed to beat his opponent in a test of skill, but he couldn't get passed that impossibly thick hide.
Still, caught in such a situation the Ninja saw only one choice in his next move. The most feared trait of those that hid in the shadows...if they were ever caught, they'd make certain there wasn't something to detain for long!
Rather then struggling to break free, the Nincada would use all his limbs to clamp down upon the Larvitar with a vice like grip. Rapidly his body would turn red, and he would utter a single word ">Bang.<"
This was his Final Gambit.

The Larvitar had come so close... but a miss was still a miss. Irritated, he watched as the bug came towards him. This time the pokemon aimed to simply headbutt it away. There was no point in running nor was attacking really a good attempt either. So he planned on hitting the pokemon while it was trying to lunge at him once more. Hopefully this defensive method worked.

As nearly impossible as it was to headbutt something which was already in your mouth, the motion did prove sufficient to knock the Nincada free. With the decreasing need to blow himself up and take the Larvitar with him, the insect would quickly return to his natural gray palor and land neatly upon his many legs.
Of course, he wouldn't remain that way for long. ">BANG<" The familiar cry came, followed by another smokebomb.

The Larvitar had been lucky and hadn't substained any significant damage because of the bomb that had been let off in his mouth. As the bug came out, the Larvitar looked really mad. This battle was going horribly and his ancestors would be ashamed of him. Legs digging into the ground, he then pushed off as hard as he could. The typical but predictable smoke bomb went off but the Larvitar had jumped high enough to go through the smoke. What do you know.. looks like rocks could fly. His maw wide open, planning on Biting onto the spider's hard body before it could get high enough to avoid him!

Once more Ryuu's teeth would find purchase upon the Nincada's tough exoskeleton, unlike before however the young titan's teeth would sink deep into the insect's body. Perhaps not as deep as they should have, but deep enough to cause a faint crack in the Ninja's body. He'd be forced to suppress a slight flinch at the occurrence...but the effects were clear. The Nincada would be forced to once more take the defensive.

The Larvitar's teeth had managed to lightly crack the pokemon's hard exterior. A little bit excited, he planned to make the most of this moment. Teeth bared once more, he aimed to Bite down and deepen the crack! While his opponent was down, it was time to attack faster and with as much power as possible. After all, each opening left a few seconds of opportunity and this was it!

Deeper Ryuu's teeth would sink, widening the crack in the Nincada's shell. Silence would ensue from the insect however as he bit back a cry of pain, flinching more noticeably this time; though soon his limbs would begin moving in such a fashion to try and free himself. He'd be stuck on the defensive again, but he wouldn't allow himself to be taken out so easily!

The Larvitar heard the resounding crack from biting on to the cicada's hard shell. Luckily the shell was slowly deteriorating as it seemed to grow easier and easier to break with the force of the pressure applied to it. He was biting with jaws powerful enough to make a Croconaw proud. Feeling a little pleased, he kept his focus. Now was not the time to let any small victories get to his head. With a roar that would make a Tyranitar proud, he snapped once more onto the Nincada with his powerful jaws! The bug pokemon might have been the speedy rabbit of the story, but the Larvitar was proving that the turtle's slow and steady pace was still a force to be reckoned with!

The roar might have been a mistake on the part of Ryuu, as the moment those jaws let up their pressure upon the Nincada's shell he was off like a shot. Scurrying across the floor, it wouldn't take long for the insect to reach the wall, and from there the rafters high above.
Like a ninja he would strike from the shadows. Making his way via quick leaps between the boards high overhead, the Nincada would spring downward uttering a loud and distracting ">BANG!<" As he swiped his claws toward the Larvitar's head. A plain and simple Scratch.

The roar could possibly been his downfall. Regardless the pokemon had managed to escape his grasp just mere seconds before he bit down. Rubbing his jaw slightly, the bug pokemon was trying to come back as he aimed to Scratch Ryuu. This time the Larvitar wasn't backing down. It was time to see whose attack was more powerful the cicada's claws or the Larvitar's teeth! He lunged forward aiming to Bite onto his opponent once again!

This time the Larvitar would find he teeth clamping down on the Nincada's claw, sending it's own strike wide and causing the insect to tumble across the tatami into the nearest wall. Ryuu's luck seemed to be turning around for the moment.

Ryuu watched as the cicada went tumbling away. Still victory was far from over. He charged again, aiming to Bite down on his opponent. Repetition was starting to get to him, but he couldn't figure out what else to do....

This time as the Larvitar came upon the Nincada he'd find himself coming up short of his target...but sadly not so short of the wall. Having promptly scaled his way back to the ceiling, Ryuu would be left with nothing to crash into save for the side of the room. Once again the insect would then drop down, slashing at the mini titan with his claws for a Scratch.

Ryuu slammed into the wall and stood there for a second. His sight was a little off but after a few shakes of his head, he was okay. So that had ended disastrously. Looking at his opponent once again trying to scratch him, he waited until the bug was close to him. Then he waited some more. Just as it was about to Scratch him, his jaws lashed out aiming to crush the claws with a Bite!

(5 - 3) + (9 - 10) = 1/2 = 0.5 (round) 1 x 2 = 2 DMG.
The Larvitar would find he'd waited to long to react to the Nincada's attack, soon enough a thin gash would appear in the side of the Ground-Type's mouth, and the insect was off again. More smoke, and the insect hiding within.
