"NO!"
Grus shouted as the spider went not for a powered person, but for one of the civilians. She tore at the confining web, tears threatening her eyes. Eyes that slammed shut as the spider struck the civilian with dripping fangs. She felt nauseous when she opened her blue eyes, bright with tears, and saw them fall. "God no..." she whispered, putting her now loosened hands to her face to mask the tears.
Suddenly, the room filled with light. She looked up to see a gold glow covering everything, including the spider. And while the glow felt good to her, it tore the creature apart. Pieces went flying and the spider was badly wounded. She thrashed at the remaining bindings on her, one leg still trapped to the column and her middle thoroughly restricted..
"You worthless creature!" She said angrily, wiping off the trails of silk left behind on her arms. Through the tears she took aim and shouted "Feather-Fall Strike!" A twin of the feathers she had produced before flew forward, but ultimately fell flat. She was just too tired.... She lowered her hands, power drained for now. Her right arm ached dully, and she briefly wondered if she broke it. It didn't matter if the creature was dead already, or close enough to bleed to death anyway. It didn't matter that she was hurt. She needed to release her anger, her sadness. But now, she didn't even have the strength to tear what was left of the silk away, let alone fight.

The youma didn't like this.
Fluorite also wasn't a fan, from the sound of it - she screamed as the light hit, as the light tore, as she felt limbs she did not physically possess thorn away. She had no idea what she'd even hit anymore, and there was no time to wonder why.
She'd hit something, that much was certain.
Whatever she'd hit, they didn't like it.
The crystal only sent the bare shadow of a pulse now - one more... ?
Could the youma survive if she took it back now ? Probably not.
It hissed in her mind. Wanted revenge.
She let him.
The monster was clearly agonizing, but apparently it intended to go down with a bang - poison gathering once more at it's fangs, ready to shoot one last time.
If it was going down, it intended to take another with it.

The spider would not strike.
Another burst of light filled the room, stopping it before it could lunge at another victim. Stunned, it was frozen in place... and there was that strange light again, hovering just before its fangs and injured eyes.
It was an amazing sight to them all, for certain. But most of them were unaware of just how amazing. Fritz was perfectly aware of it, though... to him, the image was becoming crystal clear. Instead of a mote of light floating before the beast, he saw the outline of an outstretched hand, palm open towards the spider. Attached to the hand was an arm, a body. Shoulders were rolled in a stance that was battle-ready and relaxed at the same time. Slowly, almost dreamily, the figure turned his head.
He grinned at the boy. And winked. The rest of the room was none the wiser.
A golden coin, solid and glimmering, had appeared in his free hand. Without any words spoken between the two, he tossed it at Fritz.
The message was obvious: Catch!

He felt as if he could not breathe.
Fritz's chest was tight, his body frozen in place, his eyes unmoving - focused steadfastly on the shape that was slowly twisting, forming from the glimmering, glowing mass. Something was becoming more visible - a head. A torso.
A face.
He knew that face - but how? It was as familiar to him as his own, but there was no explanation, no reasoning. There was no name, no history, but still it was there, implanted within his heart and mind as if he were seeing someone he saw every single day.
I don't understand.
A flash of white - the figure was smiling. Something glinted in his fingers - a gold light - before he threw it.
Without even pausing to think, without even considering what he was doing, Fritz instinctively let go of Eliza's hand and stumbled forward, his hand outstretched in front of him.
His fingers touched cool metal.

The moment his fingers touched the small treasure, it was as if his ears had opened for the first time and sound and noise were rushing in. It was as if his very soul, once dreaming, had finally become a part of reality. It was many sensations, none of them anything but pure and right, blossoming forth from the coin against his fingertips, enveloping his entire being and allowing his life, his long-awaited purpose, to finally begin. As far as everyone else in the room was concerned, the boy called Fritz had vanished completely. In his place was someone new. Someone more powerful. Someone who belonged here. " Celsus... Page of Chronos! Do you know what your mission is?" As other senshi and Knights began to break free, and the spider began to recover, he knew it instinctively. It was time to lay a serious beatdown. ALL POWEREDS AND CIVILIANS ARE FREE. Senshi, Knights, it's time to show your new ally the ropes!

Raven had appeared at his side and Darwin didn’t have the willpower to resist her manhandling.
“ B-but, what about Jett? And that girl?”
Not much more then a show of protest, and one quickly silenced when he realized that the spider-creature was looking angry again. He felt bad about leaving, but Jett had vanished and the girl was dead and his furniture-leg-club wouldn’t bring them back.
Then there was light and more strangeness and a new boy replacing an old boy.
“ I hope not-alien-ness isn’t catching.”
Or maybe it was a not-alien body swap? Made as much sense as space whales and squirrel conspiracies, both of which were clearly real.

Giant spiders; shimmering corners; really ******** weird costumes; exploded young women who he'd been speaking to not that long ago. s**t was starting to get real around here, and Veer was rather certain that he did not like it one bit. As the spider's bonds loosened and the battle looked like it was about to turn, amber eyes flicked onto Cameron.
God help him, but Veer was too shocked right now to even take offense at the fading insult. His mouth opened and closed as he fumbled for the right reply and -- lost it, the words escaping out of his reach. Instead he just found his feet, shakily, and started away from the mess as quickly as he could.
He wanted distance between him and the spider and the knights and the fighting, and if Cameron were smart, Veer figured he'd follow.

Something was happening.
The meta was cool in Fritz's fingers - cool and familiar, as if his hand had been waiting to grasp the small object. As soon as it met his skin something exploded - metaphorically - throughout his body, warm and bright and encompassing every part of him. It shivered down his arms, trembled down his legs and filled his chest, reverberating and resounding with a shuddering, familiar pleasure.
There was a flash of glowing white, and then -
"Well. This is, er. Certainly interesting."
A pale hand reached up, pushing black rimmed glasses up on the bridge of a narrow nose. The other hand held a single, gold coin, lifting it up between two fingers to examine it curiously.
"Well," said Celsus, tilting his head. He slanted a gaze sideways, lips twitching into a small smile as he surveyed the scene around him. His thumb snapped forward - they coin spun upwards, Celsus' hand catching it in midair and holding it tightly. His eyes slid sideways, landing on the enormous creature a few feet away, and a determined smirk quirked the page's lips upwards in a grin.
"Time to get on with it, then?"

Candice blinked a few times as the male that asked if she was alright (Fritz/Celsus) suddenly... She didn't know what to call it really. A change of clothes seemed interesting enough, but although Candice didn't really understand why or how it happened, it definitely seemed like he joined the 'powered' people. It was weird, but Candice had a desire to poke him... Mostly since she didn't really have any direct contact nor really talked to any of them.
In all honestly, Candice still wanted to run. She wanted adventure, but she also wanted to survive. It was still weird how the body of that male just disappeared. Yeah, death was one thing, but without a body to bury... What would her friends and family think back on Earth? It scared her, but Candice could see as the light faded away that the spider-thing was ready again.
But was she...? Nothing seemed to be going right, even with trying to reassure Raven. Was it wrong to comfort her the ways he did? Candice wasn't ready to accept that Jett died since, well, there was no body and she didn't see him get attacked by that thing. "I guess she just doesn't really want my support anymore, I guess..."
Candice had never seen Raven with such cold eyes. Maybe she was just bad at supporting people. Maybe she was just a bad friend. But she knew that even though Raven was upset with her, she was unwilling to not stand by her friend and watch over her. "If I don't survive, at least Raven could, right?"
She sighed again -- it seemed like her sighing was quite common nowadays. Candice clenched her stick once again, just waiting.

Eliza hand to shield her eyes from all the light using her free hand. She was shocked by what was happening. Hawke disappeared, she bleed and then she disappeared. It was the most truly horrific and mystifying thing she had ever seen.
Now Hawke was gone, dead and still it was hard not to focus on the odd light in front of the spider. Fritz seemed most focused of all Eliza noticed giving the boy a brief glance. So focused it seemed he released her arm and in his stumbling forward the fabric of his shirt slipped through he fingers.
They was more light and then Fritz was gone and their was a new person like the rest of the senshi and what not. Eliza did not care, what happened to Fritz. He was right there? He was right there, she looked to Celsus, then he was right there.
It was confusing and all she could do is stare at the boy with an extremely curious expression, the spider and the battle momentarily forgotten.

Grus didn't see what had happened to Fritz. She was too busy feeling very sorry for Hawke. But when she felt another power signature very close, she looked up from the ground. This one was new, and didn't feel like a senshi...
In fact, one of the civilians hadn't been a civilian after all. She could finally move, the silk releasing her torso and leg. After rising and dusting off the spider silk, she walked over to the new knight (Celsus) and said with forced cheer. "Well! Looks like one of you had it in ya after all!"
"Name's Grus, in case we hadn't met before." She said, extending her left hand, as her right one hung loosely. "Now, I dunno if you know much about this whole thing, but you'll know soon enough!" The spider was recovering, and she watched it rise. "But for now, we've got a bug to kill."

People were dying, people were vanishing, new people in funky costumes were appearing... She couldn't stand it, as insane as Hawke (who's name she didn't even know) and her weird costumed buddy had been, no one deserved to die like that. Not even stupidly crazy people who'd, when she'd first seen them, had such trouble grasping what was going on that she expected they spent most of their time in straight jackets.
******** this was bonkers. It was bonkers and she was itchy and sore and people were ******** DYING and bleeding all over the place, which really didn't look much of anything like it did in those horrible stupid horror films, and CHRISTONACRACKERSHEWANTEDTOGOHOMERIGHTNOW.

New Knight.
Babylon could not contain his relief that they had a new powered ally, and out of the midst of the civilians! The squire of Mercury navigated through the crowd, brushing frightened civilians out of the way (the gentleness of the brushing could be debated) as he made his way over to Grus and Celus. "Welcome to the brotherhood," he said, claping a hand on Celus's shoulder. (Never mind that in Babylon's branch of the brotherhood, two out of three members were girls.)
He gestured up to the spider youma, feeling resolute. Yes, they'd lost someone and that was worse than Lex Luthor stealing forty cakes, But! But! New knight! New knight, and he was kind of cute.
"So, just so we're clear," he explained, hand still on Celus's shoulder, "Grus is a senshi and senshi are good. We like them. They're our best allies in the war against evil, the Negaverse, what have you."
"And that," he explained, gesturing to the encroaching spider with his lantern, "Is big, mean, ugly, and hell-bent on killing us all, as it has already so unkindly demonstrated." Perhaps he was a bit too flip - but Babylon just wanted to get this done with and if everyone else was going to be terrified and weepy then he was going to do what it took to keep morale up.
"Grus," he asked, finally releasing Celus, "Under any circumstances would you require an accuracy boost? Because the light of Babylon will surely light your way to a critical hit."
Keren, on the other hand, as soon as she was released from the spider's silk made a beeline for the back of the room. It wasn't that she was particularly upset by seeing someone die, just that she didn't want to be next.
(Or, this was what she told herself.)
Keren hadn't known Hawke. She hadn't known Jett and she didn't know Fritz. But somehow the prospect of getting grusomely murdered, vanished, or turned into someone else entirely didn't mesh with any of her life goals. She fell into line beside Raven and Darwin.
"I agree," she murmured. "I don't think turning into an alien is going to get me into Med School." (To emphasize how ridiculous this statement was, Keren looked barely old enough to be thinking about college.)

Did Cameron really just sigh? It seems he did. It was a rather exasperated sigh. It was the only thing he really could do with the situation, holding himself steadily with his back to a surface. He had to keep a hold of himself so he found the first thing that seemed to make him quite unhappy, although almost everything about the turn of events did so. The fact Hawke didn't die while squishing the arachnid and thus had been absolutely no use seemed to be the real kicker. Perhaps his assumption that people could at least be useful in their death had been a great mistake.
If Cameron were to be genuinely happy with anything from this entire trip to space prison, it was this: Veer had ******** moved. Not only had Veer moved, but he was moving in a way Cameron could agree with and that was getting the ******** out of here. If there was anything Cameron and Veer could agree on during their perpetual annoyance of each other, it was their desire for self preservation and to get the hell out of this mess. The world around him was not his own and he even doubted that he'd have such ******** up dreams like this. A giant arachnid, okay, but shining lights and then the conversion of one of their "own"? Yeah, ******** no. Cameron moved, trying to distance himself from the world of magically idiotic people before they managed to convert him too. The further he could get away the better.
The look he gave Veer as he quietly moved toward him wasn't very pleasant though. It was certainly a weary look, one that said you better ******** not lead me into a room with a giant arachnid. Although if Cameron thought about it, he was the reason Veer had been lead into the room with the first arachnid. Well, it wasn't his problem Veer had decided to follow him, right? It didn't go the other way though, and so Cameron continued with the face.
