"Does something straight out of Mario Kart seem real to me? ******** no." She poked at the ground again with a foot while the other girl went on about 'aliens'. Sure she knew about the stuff that was going on around town but she'd never bothered to think any of it had to do with an alien presence. If aliens came to earth she'd bet they'd just laugh at how stupid humans were and go home.

Clearly this girl had issues. "Regina ... I'm Jocelin." She didn't think last names were important for now. The other girl near them, Amy, stood up and looked a bit green in the gills.

Reaching out she set a hand on Amy's shoulder. "You alright? You look a little green and what do you mean 'not hostile'" She looked back at the alien nutter. "Something just transported us from whatever we were doing into the middle of nowhere in -space- which gives them the power to kill us any time they wish. Not hostile my a**"

“Wow…” She said staring around. “… Um… Maybe they were right about too much rock star.” She stared up and down the rainbow bridge, the strange golden walls and the people surrounding them.

Let’s see… can’t climb it, no handholds, probably not smart to run on it (yet), plus there were too many people in the way. There were some screamers but that really wasn’t productive unless screaming could make handholds, but she doubted it.

It seemed for the moment that the normally ‘know it all’ young woman was… speechless. Nothing though could ever really ding her optimism, and in that vein, nothing could really keep her quiet for long.

“Man, if this is like, a near death experience or something like a gas leak at St. Maggies I am so writing the –s**t- out of a book about it when I get home. Head towards the light my a** can you imagine what people would think? Oh my god… if this is a communal experience we can all write personal experience chapters, it’d be huge but the emotional investment would surely have SOME pay off from the press.”

The longer she watched this madness, the more horrified Keren was by it. Something had pulled her out of her precious basketball practice for this?! To come hang out on a queer-as-all-get-out video game level with a bunch of juvenile delinquents and buffoon adults? "At least," said Keren lowly, scowling at the people before her. "I know I'm not dreaming."

Her subconscious would never, ever consign her to spending time with this collection of lowlives. She wasn't wearing her Crystal Academy uniform, which Keren regretted slightly because if you were going to be abducted by aliens then you'd might as well be fashionable about it, but hopefully her Valkyries Basketball practice shirt (with the school logo on it! In Crystal blue!) would merit her the same amount of prestige.

At any rate, she was more fashionable than any of those horrid St. Mags wenches, even in gym shorts. This, Keren was certain of.

She pushed her way over to the congregation of adults - rescue personell? - whatever. Hands planted firmly on her hips and icy lilac eyes blazing, Keren prompted, "I had better not get taken off varsity for this."

Because missing practice? That was a definite demotion right there.

Space was a vast, silent place outside of the voices of the civilians gathered on the rainbow path of the Surrounding. Their very existence in this place was strange, but to humans who had never left the soil of Earth before, they were, no doubt, the ones experiencing the culture shock. The bubbling conversations lifted high into the air, carrying in echoes and trills.

And deep from somewhere unseen, something called back.

It was not a word, or a phrase -- just a sound, low and long. It was as if some baritone-voiced opera master were floating in the next solar system over, holding a bass note for their entertainment. The sound was so faint that it was quite likely that many of the gathered civilians might have missed it. But for those who listened, it would certainly be a strange thing to hear.

Once, twice, three times -- and then it stopped.

"Alright, so I'll give you that we haven't exactly gotten the 'we come in peace' speech yet, but that doesn't mean that this is an entirely bad situation. I can work with this." She nodded, glancing around once more while at least vaguely keeping an ear out for other theories and suggestions. The only other one that seemed to make any sense, beyond her own brilliant deduction, was that they were on their way to Asgard.

"Hm. Thor wouldn't be all that bad." She murmured idly to herself, feeling her face twinge with a touch of pink as she thought of the muscled man from the movie. Mm. Manliness.

Regina shook her head, her own hand going out as Amy stood up only to hesitantly draw it back as Joce got there first. "I think we should stick together... Not that we know each other or anything, but... Things happen for a reason, yes? It'll be alright. You'll see."

Famous last words.

“Whoa…” She tilted her head back straining to hear it through the chatter and the tumult. Her eyes darted back and forth as she scanned for a source that she couldn’t find, couldn’t begin to hope to locate but all the same the instinct to search for it remained constant.

She listed from foot to foot, listless, her jaw dropping slightly as the tone continued on and on . How strange… how unearthly. It was positively Lovecraft-ian in its alien nature. Maybe they were right, maybe it WAS aliens. That was almost cooler than a near Death experience. Though she really wasn’t into ‘probes’.

“…Did anyone else hear something funny just now?” She said dropping her gaze back to the assembled. “Not funny ha-ha but funny what the dickens am I hearing, but not like voices in my head funny…only kind of like that, but not words.”

Space whales, thought some part of her, like those crazy paintings that were so popular for a while of all kinds of sea life swimming in the stars. Maybe something like this was why people painted those.

Kes was suddenly happy she wasn't part of one of the many conversations that were going on. She stepped forward towards Holi and was going to see if she was okay when she heard something and instead she turned to her and rolled her eyes.

"Shhh just listen...." She was sure she heard something. It seemed others had heard something as well. At least that meant she wasn't imagining things and that was always a good start.

"Everyone shut up and listen." She shouted as loudly as she could. She wasn't bothered about drawing attention to herself, she never really cared about that but hoped at least some would listen. She just wanted to hear what that noise was and so part of her was drawn to walk further along the rainbow bridge they were on as if it would make the noise clearer.

She must've been sleeping a great long time. Either that or she was utterly terrified at the thought of waking up at all. Anandi Rai, who thought she was being rather brave by opening her eyes, found that not only was this a most terrible idea, but that she wasn't alone. So maybe it wasn't so bad? She skittered quickly to her feet after laying on the ground (was this ground? Where was this?) for far too long. Being prone like that, people could step on her? No, people wouldn't do that. They were better than that.

The last thing she remembered was slipping into a meditative pose after a long day studying her summer reading books. The incense lulled her into a deep sense of relaxation - so much so that she must've fallen asleep! And this was one crazy hot-sauce-and-spaghetti-induced dream she was having right now. Anandi almost started to laugh. Nothing else makes sense, really. There was a rainbow bridge and they were out in space. Clearly this was the work of terrible indigestion.

"Next time, self, no hot sauce." Fully convinced none of this existed, Anandi was having the most vivid dream ever.. "Double-yew-tee-eff this'll make the most cracked-out blog post in the history of the interwebs..." she muttered to herself. The Indian girl wandered towards the nearest set of dream people and tried to be cordial.

"....so, you guys look awfully real. I must be getting more creative by the day!" There was a slight tone of hysteria in her voice, but Anandi was trying desperately to hide it. She had an image to keep up, even to dream people. If this was a dream, she could do anything, right? "It's nice to meet you, though. Want to hold hands or something and skip our way to Oz? Omg what a weird dream I'm in." Anandi wasn't sure if she heard a sound, but the nervous twiddling of her thumbs and the snapping sounds they made probably drowned it out.

Perhaps it was her desperation to find a familiar anything, even a familiar voice, in the crowd, but Holi's ears were among those to pick out the subtle noise through the chatter and the chaos, if only faintly. It was like trying to make out what someone was whispering in your ear with a group of giggling socialites shrieking a short distance away... or a deep bell under a cacophony of car horns. She wasn't even sure she heard it so much as felt it as a faint reverberation in skin and bone.

In any case, it was something to focus on, and she hastily scrubbed at her eyes, trying to wipe away anxious tears, and twisted in place, craning to try and make out the source of the noise... and for that matter, looking to see if anyone else had also noticed it.

She twisted her (slightly dampened) fingers in her hair nervously, tightly enough that her finger tips turned red. God she wanted chocolate. Chocolate therapy would be so wonderful right now.

"I... I heard it." She called over to the other chattering girl. "I think I heard it." She corrected. "Like... like I don't know. Like a far away bell or something...."

She added, distractedly to Anandi "I...don't think this is a dream... I'm not a dream... I'm not dreaming anyway, I don't think. I wasn't even tired..."

Menthe Sylvia had been working late when it had happened. The office building was slowly emptying out, the phones already turned to voicemail for the evening. It meant the secretary could work on other tasks, and she was on her way with a small stack of papers for tommorow to the copying room down the hallway from her desk.

It had felt like dizziness at first, one hand lifting softly to press against her forehead and glasses. Had she been working too hard and was coming down with something? It was possible.. it hadn't been the first time she'd worked herself ragged. Or maybe her glasses prescription was getting old, when was the last time she got new ones....?

There was a soft thump as her hips hit the edge of a cubical wall, the soft sound of papers fluttering lightly towards the thin carpet, and things went dark. Hazy.

When she opened her eyes again the darkness was there.. and yet different. Soft lights twinkled through the darkness, stars? And where she was... was like nothing she'd ever seen, nothing she could even comprehend. If she weren't so terrified it might have been beautiful. But she WAS terrified.

The tiny woman in a delicate blouse and pencil skirt began to visably shiver as she came conciousness. Her eyes squeezed shut behind her glasses, hand lifting to grip her forehead beneath mint colored bangs. Had she been kidnapped!? Who would have kidnapped her from work!? Did anyone know she was missing? Oh my god! Would Mrs Mathers think she had just walked out and quit?

What were they going to do with her? Would they kill her!? Sell her off into slavery!? Her throat was dry, stomach churning violently, a soft whine escaping her as heat pricked at the edges of her eyes. Hyperventilating.. it was bound to happen at some point if things continued.

Her own internal monologue was drowned out as people began to talk all around her. So many voices and people.. strange things.. difficult things to make out and make sense of. Were they all captives together?

Slowly her eyes crept open, blinking softly at the sheer amount of people in such close proximity. Menthe had never been a people person... and though there probably weren't more people then worked in her office.. to have them all milling around and gathering... She wanted to just sink up against the wall and out of the way.

Well.. until she realized that there WASN'T a wall. And the ground seemed... could she see through it!? Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! She would have cowered if it hadn't meant getting nearer to the scary and colorful ground.

Shivering... posture entirely submissive.. recoiled in on herself and terrified, Menthe could do nothing but lament until finally some voices began to sooth her. Voices of authority.. voices seemingly in power. She didn't particularly want to join in the mass of people.. but it was better then staying at the edges wasn't it? Who knew if she wouldn't just be grabbed again out there.

Slowly she made her way towards the Police Officer and teacher, offering barely audible "Excuse me..."s as she passed by people. It took longer then she might have hoped, not willing to really shove through anyone or even ask them to get out of the way, simply waiting after her quiet request. When she was finally vaguely near the authority figures she stopped and simply.. waited, looking down at her hands lightly.

The sound of something.. off in the distance.. calling them. It did not help the frightened little mouse of a woman, her shoulders beginning to shudder once more. Couldn't she just go home? Please!? She promised never to leave her house again, ever.

Anandi turned to this new girl, one who said she heard something (ha! Wow, her mind was getting so creative these days.) Her smile was somewhat forced because she was growing more and more uncomfortable as time went on. "Silly! Silly dream person. Of course you'll tell me it's not a dream, because dreams feel very real when we're in them. When I wake up, I'll be back in my room in my meditative pose." Several moments of snapping her fingers back and forth meant she wasn't entirely sure she could believe herself anymore. "I hope my incense hasn't stunk up my room too much..."

It was then that a tiny mouse of a woman appeared out of nowhere. Oh, so now Anandi was inventing new people! Ah, so creative! "This is so silly. So incredibly silly. It really is." Touching the small woman on the shoulder, Anandi still couldn't believe it herself. "WOW! You look so detailed! It's like I know you or something!" Bit by bit, the Indian student was beginning to think this wasn't a dream, but then... what could it be? Nothing else made any sense.

Being touched was NOT what she expected, especially by some girl, some stranger, calling her a dream person. Personal space please! It wasn't that she meant to be rude or anything but... this was all so very weird and horrible. She recoiled uncomfortably from the touch, her heart fluttering in her chest, as she responded the only why she could think of, voice barely over a whisper. "Oh... umm... I don't think you do?"

"I'm sorry" Her eyes were back on the 'ground' again.

In his rattiest pair of pajama bottoms, with cheese dust still on his fingers from the huge tub of cheese balls he'd been consuming with enthusiasm, the bright flame of his hair instead a greasy mess that probably hadn't been washed since -- well -- who knew; Veer obviously hadn't been planning on going out of the house today. Saturday night was his guild's raid night. Not usually until ten-thirty, admittedly, so he'd still been involved in a bit of pre-event wandering the countryside. As far into the newb areas as he could get, in the hopes that some of them would freak out to see someone as awesome as him there.

They rarely actually cared, but he always thought they did.

He woke in unfamiliar territory, yawning and scratching low on his stomach, obviously expecting to be alone. Obviously he'd thudded face-first down onto his keyboard, had crashed. It was a deficiency of caffeine, he'd have to lever himself up and punch some buttons on his fancy little two-cup coffee machine --

Or maybe not. Instead of staring across at the piles of dirty laundry that marked his floor at home, instead of fast food wrappers and the tossed-up, almost-never-washed covers of his futon, Veer found himself staring vacantly down through the earth and across an unfamiliar landscape.

He sat up slowly, instead of jerking upright, blinking gold eyes as he took in the shuffling people around him.

"Holy ********, man, did I smoke something?" It came out slow, strangely excited, as opposed to afraid. "This is some grade A s**t right here."

Bela had been quite the whole time she was accessing groups and who needed to monitored the most. When something caught her attention, she blinked slightly stunned as a few more had said they heard something.

The storyteller's brow lofted as she looked around before looking around again. "I'm thinking something wants us to follow..." She murrmurred looking back at Steven to see if he'd heard it, then to the cop.

Kes turned back when she heard Anandi go on and on and on about this all being a dream. She wanted to know what that sound was for sure but really... this girl was irritating her already. She walked straight up to her and slapped her around the face as hard as she could.

"Now do you still think this is a dream or do you want me to do it again?" Her voice was stern and well she meant it. In fact slapping the girl had felt amazing and she was more then happy to do it again if that girl mentioned this was a dream one more time...

She turned to the mouse like woman, "Sorry about that, it's odd for all of us but it doesn't help that some people don't seem to get that this is real." Kes turned and stared at Anandi just waiting for her to say that word again, part of her was practically begging her to say that it was all part of a dream... maybe she could just throw her off the bridge, that wouldn't be a bad idea.
