"Ah," Barth said, more alert at Christof's reluctance and clearly miserable [removed](although he hadn't seen Christof smile since they got here), "You do have to head right back?"

Calder was running out of pep, but forced a smile. "Yeah, I guess you're still busy. You should finish up and take a good rest. Don't mind the dishes. We.." Calder paused. "..I'll take them down. I know where the kitchen is." Or he'd find it. "You should get some sleep. Barth and I will probably just rest a bit too. Ya know, before we have to go. It is....going to be a long trip." And Calder felt bad coming all this way and only making his friend miserable. This had been a bad idea. He should have just kept writing letters when he was able..........and had paper.
As he watched Chrsitof, he noticed he reluctance to say much else, but he probably didn't feel up to talking or tending to them any more. Even though Calder thought it would be fun to be here, he only proved to be extra work for the Igor when his friend was already stressed. The only good thing to do now would be to let him rest and lessen his large workload.

The Igor nodded, backing towards the door. Before he reached it though, it was the Christof that lurched forward with a groan, rushing to the barred window to reach through and shove it open before throwing the tray out into the air without an explanation before either could touch it.
No sooner had he done this act than he staggered backward, gripping his throat with a tight whine before tearing out the door and down the hall as quickly as he could.

"I think," Barth said, "that food was possibly not quite as safe as advertised."
He dug his skell phone out of his jacket pocket, sending a brief text, and then said, "It might be better after all if you did stay in here with me tonight. You can drag in the other bed, if you prefer. It doesn't matter to me."

Calder looked at the open door where Christof had run off to and the open window, before looking back at Barth. "If it wasn't good, he should have just brought the tray back. That's an awfully bad way to run out of dishes." He looked back at the window. His mother probably would have liked a nice set of dishes. That tray too. Now it was miles below, and Calder frowned. He had been hungry, but it looked like he might have to wait on that until.........well, until Calder found a potted plant somewhere to munch on. Speaking of which.
"Um, I'll be right back and see about that." Calder said, guessing that sleeping together would be nice. Not so much because of safety and more because Calder always liked sleeping with company. It was a instinct thing.
Going to the next room, he tested out moving the bed, but it groaned and despite Calder's strength, didn't look like it would move easily. That and Calder wondered if he'd get in trouble or get Christof in trouble for moving furniture without permission. He didn't want to make his friend mad.
Instead, Calder reached in for a handful of hay to much, but once taking a bit of a few bits of straw, he spit it out. EEWW! It was FAR too old that it tasted like eating bark. He wasn't THAT desperate. Wiping his tongue and making a face, he stuffed the hay back into the mattress and went back to Barth's room. "Um, I can't move the bed. Is it...okay if we share?"

"Don't strain yourself with the bed. I don't mind sharing." Barth was not entirely sure why he had asked Calder move the bed, except that the beds were small, and to ease what might have been a command into a suggestion. And give the option of whatever was most comfortable for Calder. In the end, Calder (rightfully) made the less work-related choice. Barth didn't have any difficulties with propriety, bed-sharing wise. People sleeping nearby gave him a certain professional satisfaction.
"...I do mind another early morning. That was mostly Grimhold's fault, but let's not do that again."

Calder shook his head with a smile.. "Only if Frederik wakes us. I'm not." He felt a bit too tired now, and far too low in spirit to be up for much else, and he lost the pep to explore once Christof seemed resistant on him trying to point in different directions during the tour. Now, well, now he was just hoping for a better day tomorrow and maybe a way to bring the Igor's low mood.
Moving over to the bed, he settled beside the other boil. It was a good thing that both of them were rather skinny, and Calder moved his tail and brushed his hair aside so that it wasn't taking up any valuable pillow space. Even though it was an hard, unforgiving bed, the hay had a deep, dried smell and made him feel a tad at home. Coupled with the familiar scent and presence of Barth nearby, and he slipped into a sense of safety and comfort. "Night Barth." He whispered, and closed his eyes.

You had to obey Master.
You had to obey Master, there was no question, no room for even thoughts of questions, no use in second guessing, but as Christof stood ground by the elevator, his stomach was twisting, his hands were trembling.
Not allowed to warn them. Not allowed to interfere. But he had interfered- he'd be reprimanded later, he was sure. Master had Plans and Plans were important and you had to obey Master. His seams were aching, his mouth a sour, electric mess sending reminders to his brain that you Always Obey Master.
Master had been specific. And he was certain he had not been sleeping, more than likely researching, preparing... He had worded things specifically- more specifically than usual, although he supposed being older now, he had to be more specific with him.
It had kept the loop holes to a minimum. He had already gotten wise to many of them.
Mind churning, he wasn't sure how long had gone by before there came the rumbling of the elevator, and when it opened, the Igor stepped aside, letting the hulking dark shape lurch forward through the shadows. Christof's eyes remained on the ground, but his hands had clenched into fists.
The heavy creature continued forward, an almost laughter-like growl gurgling up from the creature's throat as it shuffled into the bedroom, mouth parting as it loomed towards the sleeping figures...
Just a few bites just a few bites Master won't miss it just a piece- a misshapen hand grabbed the sleeping Kelpie sharply by the arm, ready to heft up a drugged limp lump of meat.

Calder was a monster, and as such, had instincts. With company, he usually slept more deeply due to the typical feeling he had that in numbers, you were safe. Usually he didn't sleep deeply alone unless he could lock the doors and windows, and while he knew Barth wasn't the one to easily awaken and even then, wasn't one to jump into a fight, the fact another being was near made him feel safe and fall into a deeper sleep than he was prone to do in strange and foreign places.
But he still had instinct, and his ears turned and pivoted, flickering to the new sounds. The strange, shuffling noises entering the room first started the process of awaking. Then it was the harsh smell. Chemical and hot breath that had not been washed in ages. By the time he was touched and heaved, Calder's mind had already started to jerk him awake, and when he was lifted, all hell broken loose.
You did not wake a kelpie suddenly, or any animal in such a way, and Calder's eyes shot wide and his eyes flickered from deep green to flaring white. To the point that they started to give off a rising mist. A sharp, shrill noise rang out, a piercing whinny that called out to his non-existent herd that he was in trouble, before Calder whipped his head forward, dug his free hand around the arm, and bit! His teeth in this way were not sharp, but his jaw was unforgiving as he tore into the arm, and as a added measure and his greatest weapon, he kicked and kicked and kicked into the creature.

Frederik roared, twisting at the feeling of the bite before his reptilian head wormed around to clamp gnarled, jagged teeth down tightly around the kelpie's middle, the arm Calder had latched onto suddenly coming apart by the seams. five more unfurled from under his jacket, clawed fingers arching back like snakes ready to strike before shaking his head with enough force to send Calder slamming against the far wooden table and stone floor.
Back turned on the slumbering Sloth, the patchwork creature hissed violently before lurching after the fallen kelpie. Why was it still moving? Why was it biting him?? They were supposed to be poisoned by now! Clearly, that stupid little new Patchwork hadn't done it's job right. He would eat him later. For now, horse-meat was looking scrumptious.

Calder really never got bitten hard by a predator. His parents had protected him when they traveled, and the only real incident where he got several injured was when he had been caught in a current as a young colt and thrown against some jagged rocks. He'd been nipped by a wolf once, but only just barely. The bite from Frederick was no n**. It was a full clamp against his rips, and he whinnied loudly at the pain. Being thrown onto a table and then to the ground and then the stone floor was very similiar to that time he was taken by the current.
A revolting taste was on his tongue, and a searing pain pulled at his side as he curled on the ground, but looked up as Frederik came after him. What was going on? Why was the crazy creature after him?! He looked hungry. A hungry predator, and he had no herd for protection.
The urge to run and fight gripped him, and he took to the only safe haven he knew when in danger, his horse form. Water condensed around him as fog collected and gathered about his body, and soon he rose up onto all fours, a white horse with a large, bleeding crescent on it's side. It was only unfortunate that as Calder rose up to stomp his hooves, he noticed how little room there was and what meager furniture there was was too much and cramped in in one spot. There was no movement to buck or kick and he backed against the wall, lowering it's head and throwing his front hooves at him as best he could.
This was bad. Terribly bad!!! It would be too hard to turn about to show his flank and kick with his more powerful back legs, and with Barth still nearby, too dangerous! He was far too big for this room!!!

The creature reared back with a howl as the thing clamped in it's jaws suddenly expanded, scrambling backward onto the bed to trample the still limp Sloth, dodging limbs and tail. In a flash, it lunged in a blur up the wall before springing back down, limbs and jaws alike outspread-
-instead of grabbing a hold of Kelpie, he suddenly found himself with a mouth full of a horrid chemical taste and more importantly sharp thorn-like scales as a hunchbacked form lunged between them. Trajectory up-heaved, the two unwieldy figures rolled under Calder's hooves. Christof's eyes were wide and wild as he gave Frederik a sharp kick in the stomach, nostrils flaring as he tore his arm free, and several hooked teeth along the way, before scrambling out from under the long pale legs for the bed.

Barth normally was a light sleeper. When he got his daily sleep requisite in (which meant most of the day) he could be awake when it suited him, and dozing when it didn't.
Before Calder even told him goodnight, he knew he was in trouble, could feel himself slipping away into deeper, unwary sleep, but his eyes were just so heavy, and he had been awake and greeting people during the morning. He had a cousin of breakfast. In that state, a bed was more effective than any poison.
Being trampled had him awake again, though. He stifled the protesting oof into the pillow, coming druggily aware of the situation. The other patchwork. A horse. Christof...

As much as Calder wanted to trample the other Igor into a fine mush or hold his crushed body down and tear off pieces with his teeth, he was in a bit of a bind. To his surprise, Christof had come barreling in and at first, Calder nearly trampled him too! The boil was still too new looking, too unfamiliar in shape and smell, that in the blur of adreniline and panic, he nearly attacked his own friend! It was the grunting noises that caught his attention, and he stopped only as so much to see the Igor vs Igor showdown. It seemed his friend has been alerted of the news and was trying to take the lizard Igor down. A good thing too. Calder didn't know what he would have done if the creature had gotten on his back, what with little room to actually buck about.
As much as he wanted to help, he could in no way try and trample Frederik with Christof tossing about, fighting him. Worse yet when they got close to the bed. With no choice, Calder stopped his stomping and instead got close, nipping here and there in hopes of landing a bite of the lizard Igor but having a hard time getting a chance that didn't mean hurting Christof on accident.
Should he go and get help? Tell Dr. Fell his other Igor had gone crazy! He didn't know!!! He just really hurt and didn't want any of this to happen. This was supposed to be a happy visit!!!

Before Frederik could get his bearings, Christof had already lurched to his feet, dragging Barth up with only a wailing grunt onto the kelpie's back, and before Calder could protest he did what you always did when you wanted a horse to run- his hand flew down to smack him directly on the haunch.
