Before's mouth gaped open and closed like a fish gasping for air at Davey's question. Just when he thought the other guy had gotten in a better mood than when they were in orientation, he's in a grumpy mood again. Glancing back at the hag-thing, Before supposed they should all be. But there was strength in numbers! Plus, it hasn't tried to do anything to them. The brown-haired young man couldn't help but feel there was a "yet" at the end of that thought.
"I don't plan to be an idiot," 8CCCCC he muttered, eyes darting to the side in embarrassment, "It just happens..." he would kick at the sand too but even Before thought that was crossing into unrepentantly pathetic territory and while pathetic, he didn't necessarily liked it.

Jude blinked a few times at what Before said not really comprehending what was said at the last part, "FNAR? What is FNAR?" he asked as his brow furrowed a bit and then his head turned toward Davey with a small laugh.
"It could be worse," he insisted thinking that if Before had been more annoying he probably would have insisted that Jude was very much for the boys and so on but the other young man seemed to have enough prudence to accept and drop it right away. "Sometimes we all say stupid things..."
It happened if you liked it or not.
There was something familiar about Davey but he couldn't quite put a finger on why but he felt respect for him almost instantly.
Jude gazed back at Before and chuckled a bit, "I'd have been concerned if you planned it..."

For some reason Bix was feeling the need to say something. He didn't like the way 'Davey' spoke to them. He pulled Before slightly next to him. Sort of a 'sticking together' kind of move.
"Hey listen up.. he says stuff without thinking. Deal with it. Not all of us are crazy army dudes with battle scars and attitudes. Actually MOST of us aren't. Get over it. Maybe you're just pissed you are stuck with us. That seems like a personal problem!" His pale cheeks flushed a bit. "This little guy saved me during that training mission.. or whatever it was. So I don't want to hear any crap."
"Take your personal problems up with the management, buddy." He couldn't believe he'd said it for a second but his brow remained furrowed. He didn't want Before getting walked all over. He didn't really intend to put a wedge between them and anyone else but he felt, suddenly, that he did. All his comments were directed at David though. He was grateful for Jude's comment though.
He almost, almost made a rude comment about the missing arm. BUT HE DIDN'T.

Filled entirely with bullets, the lady - the thing that might have been a lady had it not been missing half its appendages, took a few more steps forward, and suddenly shuddered, stopping right in front of the closest of the trainees. Its eyes rolling up, then back further, until its head was broken backwards, hanging downwards slumped against its one remaining shoulder blade by what seemed like bare bone and sinew. It lifted its only free hand up, pointing and rotting finger in warning -
- and suddenly its entire broken chest split open from the ribcage, where its heart would have been instead nested rows of serrated, bloodstained teeth shrieking and gnashing at once, a tongue lashed out, salivating-
BANG
-and then fell limp on ground, twitching slightly. Another shot and the lady - the thing burst into rotting flesh and bone, reeling backwards before collapsing entirely and fading to a strange black mist.
Before anyone could even consider reacting, there was a strange shriek, a series of shrieks, the houses around them began tremble ominously as not one this one but several crawled out from the Inn - Vacancies still available! - and then another set from the houses behind them. They were clearly surrounded.
((PHASE 2: BOSS MASS SPAWN - 150 HP TOTAL
- Ranged phase: Your trainee is still using their hand gun
- Read the RP cues above, and have your trainee try to ward off as many ranged as possible. At the end of phase 2, the opponents will advance towards CLOSE RANGE, you want to finish off as much of their (cumulative) HP as you can!
- The FIRST dice determines the damage you do to the ??? figure the second if you hit OR miss. Odd is miss, EVEN is hit.
- Example roll: I roll a 5 and a 6. 6 = even = I hit, 5 = the damage I do
- Example roll 2: I roll a 5 and a 5. 5 = I miss, I do no damage.
- Each trainee can fire FOUR times within the turn.
- Dont forget to RP out the result after the roll ))

He would have responded to Bix or at least said something and might have even waited for Before to say something as well. Jude had even forgotten Davey for the moment as he watched the figure pretty much fall apart and then eventually come undone by others. It had been pointing. Why was it pointing? Pointing was bad. It meant bad things. Always bad things.
Then he heard the shrieking and the noise and when he turned toward it he saw the things crawling from the Inn. Jude felt his skin crawl a bit as his mouth was set in a firm line. He took this seriously - he had to. He worked so hard to get here.
Uncrossing his arms, flicking off the safety he aimed toward the crawlies and tried to shoot at least one of them. The firearm went off and the bullet just went overhead. Jude uttered a soft curse under his breath. He certainly had sucktastic aim.

Seriously he was starting to think that unless he was really lucky? He couldn't hit the broadside of a barn much less something (or a mass of something) crawling straight toward him. The young man took a deep breath to steady himself and tried to take aim again.
"This would be a lot better if I wasn't such a rotten shot," he said out loud as he made sure his stance was firm before he fired his next shot.
Again the shoot was utterly useless and veered off course missing the target completely. Jude felt his patience with himself wearing thin.

The youth paused and tried to calm down a little bit with his firearm lowered toward the ground incase he got a sudden moment of trigger happiness before he was ready to actually shoot again - though honestly that might have helped his odds but on the other hand he might shoot someone that was a trainee just like him. He'd people he had faces for now and that seemed to change everything somehow.
He spent as long as he needed to before he lifted the gun and aimed this time when he fired he actually hit something! Jude felt a bit of satisfaction as his shot went off as planned for once though he didn't let himself get overconfident. He'll probably miss...again.
Oh that Jude, such a pessimist.

Jude let out another breath and he adjusted his aim to make up for the recoil that occurred from when he fired the gun moments ago. As he pulled the trigger he noticed he managed to hit once more feeling just a little more confidence before he decided to just wait again as everyone else fired their shots.
Right now he was still safe so long as he stayed amongst the other trainees and didn't run out into the mass like an idiot. He had no plans of behaving like an idiot unless something outside of his power made him do so.
When they got close enough for him to hit them physically ... he'd try his hardest.
"I got some real crappy aim," he observed with a small short laugh as he just waited. Though it seemed he was getting better at it or just got really lucky. Probably just lucky.

Cass had been investigating her gun when the silence had settled and then a final BANG. She'd nearly jumped out of her skin, holding her gun away from herself and frowning before she got up and again approached the front lines of the gunfire. If she was going to shoot, it wouldn't be aimed at the backs of her comrades.
None the less, she seemed to have sidled up to someone else this time. If she couldn't find her a Gamma she knew, she'd settle for some complete strangers! If she was gonna make some friends, Cassandra was going to dive right into it.
Or rather, stand next to Marcus and start swearing when it seemed there were more than one of the gushing rotting things.
"Holy ******** shitsticks.." she gritted her teeth together, looking around anxiously. "Which one do we shoot first??" she gave the boy (well, he was tall enough to possibly be a man rather than a boy, hurr hurr), before she just chose a target and and pulled the trigger.

Marcus had seen a lot of things coming from New York City. He'd seen the street side vendors that sold meats that had just a little too much mystery to them, the artists booths that were probably DeviantArt rejects or tracers and sold only 'horror' H.R. Giger style art. Heck, one time he was pretty sure he saw a two headed pigeon making it's way out of central park. But that thing? Yeah, newly at the top of his 'what the ******** did I just see' list. If that was a zombie, then it wasn't a typical zombie. "It's like Resident ******** Evil after all." Was all he could mutter as the screaming reached all around them.
Marcus's gun hand shook slightly. ********, he really didn't want to die, but this was ******** nuts. Pulling up the gun, He moved his feet a- "Oh, uh." He bumped hips with- a girl? Er, yes. A girl, that was quite obvious. "Shoot those closest, the more distance we can keep between ourselves and them the better, and personally, I...don't think staying out in the open is the best idea. We need to get some kind of cover or at least find a barricade." He picked his target and resumed the stance.
BANG!
He smirked at the shot. " 'M Marcus Hasan. And you?"

"Love that game." Cass had replied with a grin at the Resident Evil comment. She had an Umbrella Corp. Shirt somewhere. Then again, she didn't want to wear the shirt of anything responsible for the things that were coming from practically everywhere! If she'd had the capacity for it, she probably would have been peeing her pants. However, Cassandra Norris had far too much pride for that!
At least in public. If she'd been by herself all bets would have been off.
"Depends on what we have for cover. If we go in anywhere there's a chance more of those things are in there.." The idea of being trapped in a building full of rotting zombie exploding fire things didn't appeal to Cass, steadying her arm and aiming again. She paused, doing her best to focus before she pulled the trigger.
BANG
And swore once she ******** me six ways to tuesday, the recoil on this thing is not what I expected." It was obvious she'd never handled any kind of gun before this or she probably wouldn't have bitched about such a thing.
"The name's Cassandra Norris. Very nice to meetcha, Marcus. Hopefully it'll be a worthwhile meeting and we don't end up at the end of a zombie survival-movie-plot where one of us has to get eaten to save the other." She laughed a bit, grinning.

Before didn't resist when Bix pulled him close nor did he add anything else to his defense. He neither had the time nor opportunity to do either. Not that he would because he was utterly grateful to have the white-haired Beta on his side. It was just that, well, s**t WAS ABOUT TO GET REAL!!!! OAO!!!! When everyone started firing, Before's mind went blank. He had a gun in his hand and he hadn't set the safety on but with all these horrors appearing so suddenly and in such numbers, it was only the fact Before was surrounded by people he wanted to protect that kept him from breaking into a dead-run away from these creatures.
His gun went off. Before wasn't sure when he raised his arm to aim. Before wasn't sure when he squeezed the trigger either. All he knew was he'd fired and missed. Oh not good...

He was able to make a small chuckle, even with the..things coming closer with each second. "I'm not up for becoming an experiment for some group or what the ******** ever. I didn't sign up for that s**t. I signed up for being a Hunter." He watched her from the corner of his eye. "The recoil sucks."
He took aim and-
BANG
"s**t." The recoil got him as well, plus his aim was off by a mile. "Well Cass, if that's the case aren't we supposed to have tons of sexual tension first, and we need to at least get to the plot arc. Which will probably be more whatever the ******** these things are." He scooted closer to her side. "I can see why the hotel was vacant though, must have gotten one star rating with all the locals acting like this."

The recoil pushed Before's arm into his socket painfully, and he let out a pained yelp. Immediately he lowered his arm to rub at his shoulder, only the sensation of pressure had him squeezing the trigger before Before had a chance to aim. And naturally missed.

Cass laughed again. Clearly even in the face of all the danger she was finding it in herself to have a good time, that much was certain to her. "That's certainly why I'm here. If I have to learn to aim a gun properly first, then god so help me I will."
She fired again.
BANG
"Well, we'll need enough sexual tension that by the middle of the movie people are screaming 'JUST KISS HER ALREADY' or something like that. Y'know. Whole audience is frustrated right along with us." She grinned, mimicking his own behavior and sidling closer to Marcus..though she left enough room for them both to move their arms around.
Didn't want to keep them from shooting these ugly things.
"I'm sure as hell not going to be staying at one of these hotels though. I'd have a better chance of surviving camping out in the middle of the wilds man." she paused, crinkling her nose a bit, "which says something. I hadn't camped before all this s**t went down."
