For someone else, being a few steps behind wouldn't bother them much, but for a Valkyrie this could determine the course of a mission! With that in mind, it was now Iduna's turn to ask for a blessing from the Goddess, while keeping an eye on the Leader.

Nocturne only found herself slowing down, she looking up at the Valkyrie in the distance. He continued her prayers, humming to herself as she chanting to keep her calm. She had to do this, she had to.

The gap between Kleio and Nocturne continued to grow as Kleio sought purchase along the ground once again. She darted into the cover of some caves, leading into an underground maze. Nocturne's prayers weren't heard as she fell even further behind. Iduna as well seemingly fell back a bit more, doubling the distance between herself and her leader. Aegle grinned over her shoulder for a moment before stopping before a big lake. She took flight for a few moments before taking a deep breath and diving deep into the crystal waters of the lake. It was plain that Iduna was to follow, swimming instead of flying.

Iduna caught a glimpse of Aegle as the latter dived into the lake. This isn't time to hestitate, she had to follow!

Nocturne was quickly loosing sight of the young Valkyrie, she picking up the pace the best she could, "My the goddess's will be done.." She sighed and continued along hte path, hoping to catch up.

It seemed as though the goddess was favoring Iduna, but both valks fell exactly two paces behind their targets. Aegle swam swiftly, not something that many valks could do well. Considering they had their winged anklets, it was very rare indeed when a Valk would need to swim. But it was something Aegle thought scouts would need to use more than anyone else. Kleio on the other hand was leading Nocturne through a maze of small caves. The red head was hard to see in the caves on top of the distance between the two.

Iduna cursed her lack of swimming experience as she saw how Aegle doing the same effortlessly. The Valkyrie counted mentally, then started to swim harder than before, the splashing water sounding even louder as well.

Nocturne was beginning to lose all hope of ever catching the younger Valkyrie, she moving through the maze, she swift enough, but yet every step she took, Kleio took two.

And just like that the coin flipped. The Goddess' favor turned, at least for the moment. Nocturne seemed to find another win and sped up faster than she had been going the entire time. She launched herself forward through the cave system, gaining ground on Kleio. Iduna however, seemed to slow down under water, loosing her breath and having to rise to the surface to gather another lung full. When she dove back under water Aegle was much further away.

Nocturne moved out of the maze and followed through the caves after kleio she had to do this, she had to catch her, there was no way she was going to give up, she couldn't.

It was clear that her good luck had left her. Lungs burned at the need to breathe, her arms and legs were in pain as well. But there was no time for breaks. Iduna's only option was to keep going foward!

Despite the distance between the two sets of valks, the battle was close. Both were very close to loosing sight of their targets, their leaders. Aegle burst from the lake and took off without a moments pause. Iduna found herself gasping for breath along the lakeshore for a few breaths before launching after her. Kleio left the maze of the cave on the otherside, and darted into the trees. Nocturne barely made it through in time to see where she had gone, and was running after her as quickly as she could. Who would loose? Who would the Goddess name the victor?

Nocturne darted off in the direction of Kleio, she trying to close that distance, trying to catch the leader as her body grew tired. She whispered to herself, she had to do this, for her daughters, for herself it had to be done.

It was a miracle that Iduna didn't drown! One, two, three... four breaths were all the Valkyrie took before she got up and dashed after Aegle. But her target was so far away! Could she be able to catch up?

It seemed that a victor would be had soon, one way or another. Iduna fell back another pace, stumbling upon a simple tree root. Nocturne followed Kleio, but exhaustion was making her slow. Both Kleio and Aegle knew their followers were just about ready to give, and thus were making their way back towards the start of all this, with careful calculation on how far back their charges were. Who would be the first to drop out of sight?
