Aaron Travels ||Level One||Devil's Rhapsody||Ki Reserve: 350|| Aaron, Hotshot, Cheshire, and Yue entered an open meadow. It was lit much more brightly than the rest of the jungle. On a far edge, there was a trailer. "I guess that is where Arete will be. Is that right Cheshire?" The cat yawned but said nothing. Aaron ran over to the door and knocked politely. No one came to the door. Maybe he's out? Aaron looked back to his companions. "Well I guess we can just wait."Hot Shot shrugged and sat by a tree. He pulled out his bass and started to strum a gentle bass line. Aaron smiled. It was almost like the vibrations tickled his heart. He looked over at Yue and with a nod, invited the tall man to sit by the tree, too. Aaron sat, pulled out his guitar, and began to strum some notes over top of Hot Shot's. Aaron closed his eyes and allowed himself to be enveloped by the music. As he strummed, Aaron's hands cracked with the slightest spark of azure energy. Yue could hear the sound of Aaron's rhythm, but could also, somehow, make out the sound of an extra bass line beneath it. The song, though it wasn't recognizable, would remind the listeners of travel and family. It was a song of hope that warmed the heart, and gave warm quakes to the muscles, relaxing the party. Aaron began humming imagined lyrics as he played, and Cheshire swung his tail back and forth, obviously enjoying the sound. Aaron and Hot Shot would continue to play, mesmerized, until Arete would show up.

☽Yue ☾   Yue listened to the tune and smiled a bit. He smiled even more when he saw avery large branch. He picked it up and began carving into it. Aaron Travels ||Level One||Devil's Rhapsody||Ki Reserve: 350|| Yue's growl broke Aaron from his trance. He was dizzy, and hungry. He looked down at his hands which had begun to bleed. Hot Shot was nowhere to be seen. Aaron looked at Yue who was surrounded by wood shavings from the large stick he had been whittling. Cheshire had, at some point, moved, and now was lying beside Aaron, curled against his leg asleep. "Woah, man. Sorry about that" There was a loud growling sound, and for a minute, Aaron was afraid it was a monster. It was just his stomach, though. "I think I zoned out a little bit. I do apologize... I think I've been sick with something. I remember an injection but...yeah..." He looked around. Where the devil is this Arete guy? I hope the jungle didn't eat him. Aaron scratched Cheshire behind the ear, softly enough to wake the sleeping cat. "Hey, Cheshire. Do you know where Arete is? We have been waiting quite a while..."

"Waiting for who now?" A golden-haired man asked curiously, standing right behind the group. He had showed up so silently and quickly it seemed impossible. Yet this only seemed natural for him, and with a large smile Arete glanced down at the cat on Aaron's head. "Oy! How's it going there Cheshire? Did you find some students in the jungle again and direct them to me?"
The cat merely opened one of its sleepy eyes at the man in response. In the sunlight its fur held a purple-ish hue to it. "Obviously" he replied before yawning.

Aaron Travels ||Level One||Devil's Rhapsody||Ki Reserve: 350|| Aaron jumped a bit, as he had tendency to do, when the man showed up. So this is the man who will teach me... Aaron looked at Arete. It showed that the man had been living in the Jungle. The very fact that he could sneak up on the whole group showed that he knew the way there easily and carefully. Aaron popped to his feet and, copying Yue, took a deep bow. "Hello. My name is Aaron. I was told that you would be the man I could speak to about being taught on this island." Aaron looked over at his tall new friend, though, and remembered how nice it was of him to wait all this time. "My friend here has been here for so long, though, and has waited patiently as well. I would be honored if you could assist him first."

Arete grew a large and comforting smile that would brighten up anyone's day. "So, Arthur sent me a couple new students did he? Thats excellent! The more the merrier, they say." He suddenly reached for his back, and only then would Aaron probably notice that he had an acoustic guitar there. Arete pulled it around to his front and sat down on a nearby log, strumming a few strings to see if it needed any tuning. "Sit down, sit down~!" He happily asked his visitors. "And we'll talk about how you two can earn your level up."

Aaron Travels ||Level One||Devil's Rhapsody||Ki Reserve: 350|| Aaron sat back down, and pulled out his guitar. Hot Shot, came out from behind a tree, zipping up his trousers. "Sorry, Arrow, I had to take a piss." He walked over, and plopped next to Aaron. He gave Aaron a nudge in the side and whispered loud enough for everyone to hear, "Dude, who's the pirate?"Aaron gave Hot Shot a look, and looked at Arete. "Sir, I think...Yue here..." Aaron wasn't even sure if Arete had heard Yue ask about the arrows. The taecher seemed focused about tuning his guitar. Come to think of it, Aaron wasn't even entirely sure if Yue was studying the same thing as Aaron...whatever that was. The hell am I studying, anyway?

Like Arete, Aaron was plucking at some strings on his guitar. Hot Shot kept looking at his wrist, as though there were a watch there. "Yo, man is this gonna take long? I got shyt to do!"

Arete tuned his guitar a bit and casually replied, "Well the test could be quick or it could take a while. It all depends, but if you came wandering all the way here I don't see why you wouldn't like to stay for a bit." He glanced up from his guitar into the direction of Hot Shot, though it seemed like he was answering Aaron. Then Arete simply glanced back down and strummed a few more notes on his guitar. "Of course, if you both want to jump straight to business then I understand. But as for you, Aaron, I'm flattered that you'd like to learn from me but why would you want to? After all this is our first time meeting. You're mighty quick to trust people you hardly even know."

Aaron Travels ||Level One||Devil's Rhapsody||Ki Reserve: 350|| Hot Shot looked dumbfounded, and shut up, finally. Someone actually talked to him? Aaron just looked confused. He knew that he was typically a distrustful person--life on the streets had taught him that--but since he arrived he had seemed somewhat...complacent. It wasn't just with this Arete guy, either. He trusted Hot Shot's presence in his life. He trusted that instructor in the school and had even offered to help him. He trusted that bizarre serum that he just injected himself with. He trusted Yue... What is going on with me?Aaron looked at Arete. As Arete softly plucked the strings to tune them, Aaron could feel the softest comfort of a warm vibration, relaxing his muscles and spirit. "To be perfectly honest, sir, I have no reason to trust you or anyone else. I'm not sure why I do, either. There is something just...I'm not sure. I'm not terribly sure of anything and haven't been since I stepped on this island. I guess I would like to learn how to defend myself here. One of the first people I met here had some sort of dark evil presence dwelling within him, and I know that other students--" Aaron glanced at Yue for a brief second "--will also have some sort of 'Gene-X' mutation thing going on with them. I hope that I can, indeed, trust you, and I would be pleased to learn whatever it is you have to teach me. I think I need to be ready for the worst."

"Sounds to me like you're living for tomorrow instead of today." Arete commented and he started to play a simply tune on his guitar. "I suppose many people would call you a smart man for that, but I don't think it'll make you a happy one..." Once he had a rhythm of notes playing Arete looked up from his guitar and smiled at Aaron. "What I'm saying is that if you're always worried about the future, you'll miss the chance to treasure the days you have. Heh heh, but look at me. I haven't even accepted this teacher role and yet I'm already lecturing. I guess its just habit for me now. But still, what you've said doesn't explain why you want me to be your teacher, or even why I should want you to want me to be your teacher. There's a lot of want without reason here, and there's already enough stuff that we want but we'll never get. For example, I want...a double bacon and egg McDonalds hamburger...with maple syrup and chocolate chips poured all over. Mmmmm..." Arete closed his eyes and swayed to the music, picturing the delicious meal inside his head. By now he was clearing getting off topic, but that was just how the Muse was. After a moment he stopped and opened one eye at Aaron. "You wouldn't happen to have one of those, would you?"
