Cody laughed loudly. He wiggled the cigars in his fingertips."Peer pressure?" He laughed even more. He put one the cigars back and unwrapped the other one. Placing it in his mouth and placing the wrapper back in his jacket he produced his own flask. "No worries mate. I keep scotch on tap." He winked and took a long swig from the flask. "Guess that may be the one way that neither of us has changed?"

"Nor did I." He stared at the floor and after a moment, removed his hat. "I've always been a fighter though. In one way or another. That day I almost died a fighter but" He placed his hand over the left breast of his jacket. "I was blessed, or cursed, to fight more. Which it is I can't decide. That is why I am here actually. In the naive world of the normal; nobody desires protection anymore. Everyone feels safe because of their big fancy electronic security systems, large caliber weapons, and grotesquely cross-bred dogs. With me having no pulse it's also rather hard to pass a physical." He paused long enough to take another large swig off of the flask and removed his unlit cigar from his mouth. "I am here to seek employ as a bodyguard. It wasn't until just before I had arrived that I learned of you living and teaching here. At that point I figured you may need a bodyguard of your own. What do ya say? I'm cheap to begin with but you and your family get the 'employer' discount." He smiled smugly.

Emma raised an eyebrow. "Us?" "Troublemakers?" "Not us." The girls responded to their fathers pointing. "At least I'm dating a guy who isn't on your kill list anymore." Emma told her father. "And I'm seeing a guy who isn't known for being a total horn dog." The other twin responded

"Even at your age, there are still stories of mine and your fathers exploits that I wouldn't dare mention in your presence. I may not know you. I do, however, know your DNA. I'm sure you raise enough hell of your own." He smiled and took a deep shot off of the flask. His facial expression never faltered as he swallowed the cheap liquor. "You know; they say the more expensive alcohols are the finer ones. I highly disagree. They simply don't posses the same burn. The burn is there as a pleasant reminder that you are actively drinking poison. There is nothing fine about that." He smiled and chuckled. Yet another large shot found its way from the flask to his mouth. "So how about it young ladies. Interested in a bit of extra protection?" He leaned in close and put up his left hand to block view of his right hand from Devlin; as he was gesturing toward Devlin with his right hand. "It's free" he whispered. "Where can I smoke this damned cigar?!"

Devlin chuckled and looked through the back of the apartment to the little balcony like alcove and gestured to it before thumping him on the shoulder whisper "Over there see it?" before chuckling and saying rather loudly "Oh you hear that mate, don't need any protection, how many comrades have we heard say the same thing?" he said chuckling a little bit he looked seriously at his daughters. "Look I know you girls are special and most likely very hard to harm, but I'm a firm believer of prepare for the worst while hoping for the best. It's happening."

Cody stood from his chair and took one last swig from his now almost empty flask. He glanced at the girls and began to unbutton his sport-jacket. He opened it widely to reveal his torso, as well as a wound across his stomach he received while entering the island. "Look closely ladies. Do you see a badge anywhere? A permission slip? A little smiley-face stamp on my hand? Anything to suggest I have permission to be here? I made it in just fine. Others; human or other, will also. Whether invited or not." He began to walk towards the balcony and turned over his shoulder before he placed his cigar in his mouth. "As your father said, it's happening." He smiled as he stepped out and placed a freshly struck match to his cigar and looked to the sky.

Emma looked at her father and hissed. "If he did I'll just have to hurt him back. Public humiliation sounds good to me." She told her father. Ana also answered what she thought. "I was the one who approached him. If I get hurt I only have myself to blame."

Letting out a hearty laugh Devlin chuckled for a moment and then looked up at Cody "Maybe not fire, but sending you off to the sand box again might bring you back to snuff if you failed in your duties." he said chuckling morbidly "You know how angry those buggers are and of course we can't forget the sand." he commented with a chuckle.
