For the most part, she was still pretty much oblivious to what the other students were doing. Unless they were near her, LW didn't know who was actually stirring the cauldrons or who was hanging blankets to dry. She could barely even catch the familiar scents of students she did know! Oh the sooner they could be done with this...the better! There was a long hot shower with her name on it after this. And then maybe after that she would be able to think about eating food again. Definitely not something at sounded appeasing at the moment.
She snickered at Morton as he replied to her words. "Eh, not my fault nor either of your faults if they can't figure that out for themselves." LW shrugged. She didn't blame them. As she'd said, it had been her choice to go out there. Her gaze traveled over to Cora and the she-wolf laughed. "I'll agree there." This definitely could be counted as grunt work. And the teachers obviously didn't want to do it. So that left their dear detention students.
LW was momentarily surprised when Morton informed her that her name was cute. Cute? That was definitely not something she had expected to hear. Of course, growing up with older brothers and being the smallest in the family...yeah. Cute was not what she associated with her name. Speaking of which, she probably should call her family soon.
"T-thank you?" She managed the stammer out and shook her head much like a canine might when wet. "Yes. It does. I'm a werewolf." The tail that seemed to be fascinating Morton had been lazily wagging back and forth the longer they stood around instead of just dragging behind her. When he reached out and ran his fingers through the silky fur, LW curled her tail a little so it was easier for the boil to reach. She giggled at him and glanced at Cora. "Oh...I do love scratches as well. And snuggles."
Ah, good. He felt that it was safe enough. She smiled and started to walk towards one of the cauldrons to dump the load of blankets in her arms in there. Once done, she moved back to the others and didn't go get another pile. She needed a small bit of breathing space (literally) to try and breathe in air that wasn't tainted. Hmmm, would it be considered rude if she walked up to one of them and sniffed? Her gaze fell on her gryphon friend. He wouldn't care. LW looked at Morton. "If there is something worse to smell than this....I don't ever want to smell it."
((Current word count: 1268; LW is going to wait until every one in her little group can leave before she does))

Red had left the laundry room and then even come back without Lucien noticing. He was so occupied with hiding from the gnomes he didn't even realize his bird, Israfel, was in the laundry room as well. He was hiding from gnomes who had surely long forgotten about the air spirit who had tried to leave so innocently but Lucien wasn't taking chances. What if they tried to touch his feet? Although he was able to float again since the reindeer had given him back his wings, he didn't want to risk it. So he continued to move blankets as he used them to hide. He still didn't quite realize he was doing laundry, or even being punished. He was just trying to hide and just happened to move the laundry to be cleaned in the process.
It was bound to happen when someone wanders around with their head under a blanket with no way to see and without delay, Lucien bumped into a wall... or something. He wasn't sure since he couldn't see. He only made a mmph sound and tried to turn around, wandering off in another direction. Hopefully he wouldn't bump into one of the barrels of bleach and fall in or something. If he was lucky he would just fall in the hot water instead.
He must have passed by one of the cleaning stations because someone or something had grabbed the blanket off the air spirit's head and tossed it into one of the containers and began to stir it 'round and 'round in a very unimpressed manner. It seemed they didn't like doing that, which only made Lucien wonder why on Halloween they were doing it in the first place. He didn't say anything though because he had bigger fish to fry with his hiding place gone he had to find another! Oh, what if the gnomes seen him! He quickly hid behind the nearest student he could find, and then behind some of the blankets hanging out to dry.
Oh, a gnome! Lucien squealed and floated out from behind one of the blankets with haste. That was a bad place to hide, there was a gnome hiding int here! He did not want to hide in a place that had a something he was actually trying to avoid in it. Instead he went back to the dirty pile and grabbed a few smaller things, piling them up in his arms so that their mass would mostly cover him.

Soon the brutally heavy stirring seemed to thin out as she caught up, but just barely. She had to wonder what manner of horrible creature spawned the rancid scents that lingered around his area; they couldn't have been normal ghouls and boils. Perhaps stink monsters? It was the only thing that made sense; she didn't even think the stench of a rotting corpse was this bad! Granted it had been a long time since she had actually caught the scent of a corpse.
Now that she could look around a little bit, she stared sheepishly towards her friends, wondering if she'd be able to talk to them as the workload wasn't as piled up and waiting on her. Unfortunately now she couldn't resist the question that had been bugging her for a while -- Well, actually, yes she could, as Lucien hid behind her for a moment. She was distracted enough from her question to put a hold on asking it, instead staring wide-eyed at the air sylph as he floated away to hide behind someone else.
Uhh...well...okay. Lucien was certainly an interesting one. Blinking at him for a moment or two, she pressed her lips together in firm resolve; now that that distraction was over...
"Psssst, Lizzy!" Amrita called out in a harsh whisper, not wanting to be too loud. "Are you okay?!" She didn't care if she could potentially be talking over the Pride Demoness; right now she just cared about her friend. If the Demoness had something bad to say about it, she'd just apologize.

"A-ah, excuse me..." Lizzy smiled apologetically at Carry before shifting a little to the side so that the other Demon was not blocking her view (again, it sucks to be short). She was sure that she had heard Amrita call out to her, and felt inclined to check. Seeing that the ghoul was indeed looking in her direction, she smiled and gave her friend a little wave before mouthing the words 'I'm fine!'
She eyed the ever decreasing pile of dirty blankets, glad that they would probably be able to leave soon; the smell of bleach mixed with... Whatever substance was staining those blankets was starting to get to her.

It took Amrita a little bit to realize what the Demoness had said. She tried to mimick the mouthing motions her friend had made, and tried to imagine what sort of words would be made from that. Despite that, she eventually understood and when she did her entire body seemed to relax in relief. Oh good, she was okay! That was absolutely wonderful to hear! With a smile and a thumbs up (a terribly awkward and uncomfortable motion for sure), she turned her attention slightly behind her, to try and find Lucien again.
The air sylph was clearly losing it, and she at least needed to make sure he was okay before she would feel okay enough to leave.

There was a gentle touch on Lizzy's shoulder. It was Red. "Hey," the gym teacher greeted, "Sorry it took me so long to get to you. You're excused from work, considering the circumstances." The werewolf's eyes grew dark as she frowned at the memory. "I'd go see Cricket if I were you, too." Red looked up, her previous frown gone as she concentrated. " Do you hear that? It sounds like..." Riley felt a smug sense of accomplishment when she heard the faculty member announce that she could leave. She barely reacted, however- just kept pinning linen to the line. It was rather soothing - and she knew G would be upset if she just up and left him like that. So she stayed. She might even be humming as she worked, in her own head. No one would ever know for sure.

Amrita's search to discover Lucien was cut a little short when she heard Red. Her first instinct was to flinch and leap back to work despite already having done her quota, but thankfully that urge was ebbed when mild curiousity took over.

Maritess released a deep sigh of relief when Professor Red came back. Without Calder. She shouldn't have been surprised. After what the kelpie had almost done to Lizzy she would have been surprised if he came back with her. She wondered what they were going to do to him. Were they going to expel him?
The anxiety she felt made her grip on the stirring stick stronger. With a grunt, it was clear that she was struggling with the cauldron filled with bleach and dirty clothes. She was the only one there and while it wasn't as busy as the cauldrons filled with water, it was still no flight in the park. With sidelong glances, she observed where her friends were, spotting Lizzy and Amrita. It looked as if they were doing very well with their work (the keyword here is looked). The manananggal couldn't help but feel like she had to pick up the slack for her own chore. Her wings continued to flap silently, displacing air, and sometimes smacking into a random ninja gnome that was making sure she worked.
"I'm not going to apologize," she muttered beneath her breath. She didn't quite hear what Red was referring to, though.

Lizzy stared in amazement at Amrita's thumbs up for a while, before spinning around to face whoever had touched her shoulder. Coming face to face (well, sort of, since they were obviously not the same height) with Red caused her heart to stop for a split second as she recalled every little rumor about the werewolf that she had ever heard - most of which pointed to her as a scary hunter. To the Demoness' surprise, however, she didn't feel that there was a need to run when she spoke. Instead, Lizzy quickly replied, "T-thank you, Professor Red... I feel fine now, but I'll be sure to drop by Nurse Cricket's office later."
Sound? What sound?
Lizzy tilted her head as she stared up at Red, frowning slightly together with the teacher; all she could hear was the splashing of water from the cauldrons as well as the (irritating) chattering of the various laundry room gnomes.

Nyyrikki narrowed his eyes and looked up, tilting his head to the side slightly. He had a few of the unrecognizable blankets in his arms, and was thus, avoiding breathing too deeply. It would have been funny, if it weren't HIM having to do it.
"I don't hear anything." His hearing was average, at best, and probably less so with his temper at a constant boil today.

"Oh, yes. Well, you're welcome." It was only the second mark he'd done at the school, but he was pretty sure positivity and gratefulness were not the usual reactions to a Contract.
Still, no problems so far. He was rather fond of Contracts, at least ones that didn't incur paperwork. Which, from now on, was apparently all of them. Once Christof's mark disappeared, he'd have to make doing the forms part of the Deal.
Still. Still. He had been...flaunting a bit, recently. It was bound to get other demons rankled. And the key was to stay low-key and to survive. But survival was what Colette was best at, and keeping her close by couldn't hurt the cause. Keeping Christof close by might, but he was sure that the hunchback meant well. He was just a little...melodramatic. And also dismissed. Perfect.
Right, now to get back to that escape plan in action. If it was even worth it, if students were already being allowed to go....err, what was that a noise?
