"Darkness within darkness. The gateway to all understanding.” -Lao Tzu
AS she spoke, the boy stood and listened quietly, still not looking at her. Her words surprised him. He was sure there was going to be something cruel in there, or that she'd just lie and pretend to read it and say something else. But the words were completely honest. Instantly guilt lay over him. He had planned on lying to her when she was completely candid. Malachi simply nodded when she had finished. "Yea." There was quite a bit he hadn't realized. He had hurt her when he got angry and she had overheard the argument with the counselor about Evangeline. Why hadn't she asked about it yet? Though he didn't know her well, Jade seemed bold enough to ask. Then again, perhaps she hadn't wanted him to know that she had overheard. {{OCC:}}

Can you hear me? Stop, look, listen to my voice, It was never my choice to feel all alone This is my home Liars “Well I’m glad I made you happy.” She said, shifting on the bed, her eyes resting on him expectantly. Any day now, he could explain how he felt. Hopefully he gave her just as honest an answer as she had given him. Sure, she left out a few parts, but she said that that was more or less what it had said, right? So, he had to have been pleased with what he had gotten. Actually, the pieces that she didn’t say were mostly talking about how it was possible that something could happen, and that she wasn’t sure how she felt about that idea, as well as just describing some of the things they talked about and did. Which, he already knew the latter. But the beginning, she was slightly sorry for not giving it to him, but she didn’t lie, and she had given him enough for now. There was no reason to go and scare him off, now. Especially if he actually did sort of like her and not think she was super repulsive or something. ...Back up , you don't know if you've never been here,
You've never been to the place inside, I face my fears It takes everything I am.

"Darkness within darkness. The gateway to all understanding.” -Lao Tzu
For a moment, Malachi didn't say anything, words eluding him. Finally, he spoke. "You're weird and you talk to much." He said, honestly. "But, You're easy to talk to. And you're nice." When was the last time he was this honest with someone? Malachi couldn't even remember. The young pyro felt like he ought to say something else, but nothing substantial came to mind. For the first time in a while, Malachi glanced across the room at Jade. She looked almost like a painting, her long dark hair falling over her shoulders and green eyes looking over the papers. Her simple beauty was almost breathtaking. Malachi, realizing he was staring, averted his eyes, returning them to his shoes. {{OCC:}}

Can you hear me? Stop, look, listen to my voice, It was never my choice to feel all alone This is my home Liars Jade watched him carefully while he spoke, her green eyes studying him carefully. Just who was this boy that she had gotten to know? That she had been too honest with for her own comfort. When he spoke, she smiled softly, glad to hear what he said. Well, of course not the first part, about her talking too much and being weird. She was trying her hardest to come off as normal, perhaps she just tried too hard… “Thank you.” She said softly, standing. But her face went serious again. “But you shouldn’t set yourself up for anything, Malachi.” She warned him seriously. “Don’t make any preconceived notions of me. You don’t know why I’m here. And that, alone, can be dangerous. Just keep that in mind. I don’t want to hurt you.” She moved over to the desk again, setting down the envelope and picking up the rose, twirling it in between her fingers. ...Back up , you don't know if you've never been here,

Suddenly, Jade was serious... and very wrong. Feeling the smallest bit of temper rise in him, Malachi said, "You wanna talk about making assumptions? Look in the mirror. You just assume that you know about me and my life after knowing me for what? A couple hours if that?" He stood up straight. "Not to mention you just assume that I'm a great guy when you have no idea how dangerous I can be!" The air around him became hotter and hotter with each word, temper growing out of control. 'Calm down. Just calm down.' He told himself. 'Can't loose control.' Why was this making him so angry? Could it be how blissfully ignorant she was? Or was he angry at himself for being dumb enough to come here and risk her life? {{OCC:}}

Can you hear me? Stop, look, listen to my voice, It was never my choice to feel all alone This is my home Liars Jade was startled by his quick and livid retaliation. You would think that she said that she understood him or something. That was nothing that she had said at all, she merely spoke the truth about herself. She was going to hurt him with her lying, and she didn’t want him to be unprepared and startled. The female’s face contorted in anger as she took a step towards him, her fists balled up. But, before she said anything, she forced herself to remain calm, to put on that stony front of not caring, holding her head up high and not letting her words get to her. But they were killing her inside, every single one of them. “Did I ever say a word about you being a great guy? No. We have our flaws. We all do. Like your temper. Your need to be alone because you’re afraid of what you’ve done and what you could do.” Turning on her heel, Jade turned away from him, moving to the doorway. “When you want to talk rationally and stop putting words in my mouth, you can find me. How about that, Malachi? I know how weird I can be to you, right?” Her words had a sharp, frigid edge to them as she moved out of her door and down the hall. Hopefully, he wouldn’t follow. Or put any holes in her wall, since she wasn’t too keen on the idea of getting in trouble. Though, really, it would be interesting to come up with a story for it. ...Back up , you don't know if you've never been here,

Malachi watched Jade disappear from the room, repressing the urge to follow her and make her admit she's wrong. The boy didn't think he'd ever seen his counterpart angry. Not a pleasant sight. Once the pyro was sure Jade had left the hall, he walked out of her room and back to his, still fuming. Who did she think she was, pulling this mysterious crap? It was ridiculous! Once inside the safety of his room, Malachi sat on the edge of the bed and ran a hand through his hair. His fingers were hot to the touch, almost enough to burn. The dark eyed boy laid back, breathing deeply. "At least if I black out now, Jade's not here." He said to himself. Sure, the house might burn down, but he wouldn't kill Jade, and that thought alone was enough to bring his temper back down. Sitting up, Malachi glassed the room. The gaping hole seemed to mock him. It hadn't looked that bad when he left. {{OCC: Would you like to move this to a 1x1?}}

Can you hear me? Stop, look, listen to my voice, It was never my choice to feel all alone This is my home Liars The girl barreled down the halls once she turned the corner, down the steps and out of that building. That blasted building. It wasn’t often that her true colors showed like that, any emotions except her bubbly, talkative side. It was his fault, he was doing this to her. “For four years I’ve been fine!” She fumed, moving into the forest and letting the trees close in around her. “Damn you, Malachi! Why are you doing this to me? You’re the only one who can see through my facades.” She kicked one of the nearby trees, trying to get a hold on herself and her emotions. “Saying such awful things to me, about yourself. Both of them make me so… So…” Jade longed for the right word. None of them seemed to fit just right. What did it matter? “I can’t even be honest with myself. I’m just a. A liar.” She let out a frustrated groan, sinking down against one of the trees, her fingers threaded tightly though her hair as if she was going to tear out her dark locks or something. ...Back up , you don't know if you've never been here,

Once he was sure the anger had gone, Malachi stood. His conscious urged him to find the green eyed beauty girl, to apologize or something. However, he couldn't seem force himself to leave the room. "It's not my fault. I shouldn't have to apologize." He lied to himself. Malachi knew very well that he over reacted, but the stubborn boy would never have admitted that aloud, let alone to Jade. For quite a while, he stared at the door, almost as if he expected her to walk through it, unable to convince himself to leave. Why did he even care? She was just some girl after all. It wasn't like she mattered. More lies. Jade did matter, but he didn't understand why. Why did this one girl mean anything to him? How had she managed to find her way behind his walls? The questions were driving him crazy! Finally, Malachi walked to the door, opened it, and began walking down the hall. He would just wander around, and maybe he would run into her. {{OCC:}}

Can you hear me? Stop, look, listen to my voice, It was never my choice to feel all alone This is my home Liars “Stop!” She shouted, seeing the shadows playing around her. Normally, if it was just her sister she wouldn’t have minded, but it was more. Her little friends coming to play. The ones that she saw beside her in that hospital room every time that she went to visit. The ones who had disappeared from her life, right along with her, after she had come to love them. “Everything I love dies.” She breathed, pulling at her hair. “Leave me alone! I don’t want to play with you. Rachel. Make them go.” She whimpered, closing her eyes tightly. Her lies spun around in her head, pounding on the walls. She hated it when they did this to her, they reminded her of all that she did, all that she had said that was wrong. She didn’t mind when it was just Rachel, since she understood. But, the rest of them… It got to be a little much. Unbearable. “I didn’t lie. I didn’t. I didn’t lie to him. Leave me alone! Stop it!” She started to call out again, pressing herself up close to the trees, her green eyes watching as the shadows danced around her. They were so free. They disgusted her, along with making her hate herself. Their taunts rang in her head, dismissing her as a liar, just like everyone did. Just like everyone would, if they knew. Malachi included. He wouldn’t let her say another word if she confessed. “I have to! I would be alone. Please. Understand.” Jade whimpered helplessly. ...Back up , you don't know if you've never been here,
