There were so many conversations going on that Amrita didn't know which ones to pay attention to. So she waited until it seemed she was being spoke to; that always sounded like the best idea. When Morton went to answer her question, she turned a wide-eyed stare to him, watching him knock on his own head.
"That makes sense." Rita said, unable to resist the little giggle. She was so close to putting in her two cents about the pairing thing when the Reaper stared at her, and then asked her a question. At least...she thought the question was directed at her!
"Umm..." The child like Vetala hummed, reaching up with her free hand (the other still firmly grasping Tahki's under the table; it would remain there until the Gryphon let her go) to pat at her own head. She felt her head, her hair, and the flowers that seemed permanently stuck to her. "I...I don't...um...have...horns...?" Oh no, what if the Reaper wasn't talking to her! Ugh that would be all sorts of embarrassing for herself...

Finally.
Finally it seemed, after taking her sweet-sweet time, that Cricket had set aside the last pair of papers and planted a pumpkin squarely on top of it. Though there was a pause in which she frowned at a leftover worksheet, and then looked up at her class, staring down the Pricolici who had earned some accusation of being the cause of the class.
She would find something for that student, even if it did result in the hilarity of the single parent solution. But that wouldn't be as difficult as what it was she'd just caused to happen....
She rose and leaned on the edge of her desk.
"I'm sure you've all guessed what horror I've bestowed upon you; That's right, you're all going to be parents." she stated flatly, before waving a hand dismissively. "But not just any parents. No, you'll be the parents of a little creature that will make you suffer if you don't raise it right. They'll be everything you never wanted; They're loud, will shriek in the middle of the night until your ears bleed, and they will demand your every moment of attention."
Shehk's ears flattened back and she frowned at this description. Maybe it was -better- she was the odd-one-out.
"But that's only if you do it wrong. So, class, this is what I'm expecting from you.
You will have two weeks with your child at maximum. However, once the surface of the pumpkin cracks open and it peeks out at you, you are to come visit me for a grade.. though don't expect me to take the creature off your hands." she added.
"Either way, it's time for you to hear who you're doomed to work with in that time......"
The Pairs Samantha and Braum Lizzy and Tahki Julian and Belladonna Junko and Hadiyya Israfel and Morrigan Chuppi and Emily Tess and Alcyone Morton and Sin Coralie and Rain Igneous and Maladore Amrita and MeiXiu Siddie and Tybalt Elaphe and Shine Aymet and Calder
"I'm sure I'll need to address this worry immediately: There are creatures within halloween town that are gender neutral. There are some who are both, some who are none...." she paused and looked at two students in particular, before going on, "and some who raise their young in 'clans' of mothers or fathers, so no, it will not effect you to be working with another female or another male for this."
She then sighed and picked up the first pumpkin with the same care one would a baseball that was to be thrown at someone's face.
"Now, come up here and get your children......"
And then, on a hilarious cue, something let out a blood curtling shriek from within her desk, one that caused both the Pricolici to flinch, pulling her ears down against her head, and Cricket to make a face, kicking her desk lightly.
"Oh shut up." she hissed, "I'll take you to your stupid ice-demon-daddy soon enough." she huffed.
... .....
Apparently Cricket hadn't done too well with this assignment herself in the past... or maybe she had, since that was the first time it had made any noise to be had.

OOC Instructions:
-ONE of the two in these pairs must post their minipet account AFTER this post, where the pumpkingling "baby" will be dropped for the parents to "take care of" (aka grow) --> So basically either Miliardo OR Ruri could post for their pair to pick up the 'kid', but both can't. - Remember in Halloween, a lot of creatures are very gender neutral (and some are both or none!), so same 'gender' is really not an issue here for "parents" - PRPS and rps outside of this class where the "partners" are rping their little pumpkingling together are encouraged and in fact might yield your student a higher grade! This includes bringing it out for a stroll, deciding who will take care of it, and the likes - When the pumpkingling grows to it's 'last' listed stage, come to me and I'll grant you your prize. However, you can also take some time before you do that to do some RP. - Don't worry, eventually everybody working in these groups will be able to have this minipet. You won't need to fight TOO HARD, this is just 'who gets it first'.
So people have the time to do some creative stuff for their 'baby rearing', you have until:
November 26th to post ONE of your accounts to get the homework put onto
After that, I will give another time limit for people to finish the homework up in. In the case that someone can't get a hold of their partner in that time, let me know and I'll rearrange pairings if needed.

In the back of his mind, Braum knew he'd get stuck with that insufferable rotting corpse as a partner. He snorted and his feathers shook with quiet outrage at the thought of HER raising anything, let alone something he'd affectionately call his own. His father had been the only one to raise HIM and he'd come out moderately okay, this child would of course come out the same. He wouldn't allow that insufferable girl to get anywhere NEAR his little pumpkin.
Bowing to the ladies and giving Lizzy one last gentlemanly smile of acknowledgement before standing up completely, he strode over to the desk and almost slammed his hand down on it, signing his name to verify that he was taking first custody of the 'child'. He wondered if they could go to student council court to fight for custody? Some parents surely did that when they split, though he'd never seen it happen. His own parents division had been an amiable one, and he hardly if EVER saw his mother. He thought he'd met her once or twice.
"I'll take first watch," he informed Cricket curtly, scooping up the pumpkin and holding it gingerly. Cradling it back to where he was with the girls, anyone who knew him could see the softness creep into his face, and the tender affection with which he held the pumpkin. Yes, Braum was sure to make a good father, or at least a doting one, even if he DID have to put up with that horrible woman when she came to see the baby on weekends.

(( Profile)) Sin wasn't exactly the maternal type, infact she didn't give any thought to someday having a squalling brat of her own. Still in her family females were the caretakers of the little demons...usually. Mostly the males went off and earned the pumpkinseeds and the females spent them, ahh marital bliss. So without even looking at Morton for so much as a second she stood and went to retrieve her 'child' convinced that if a male so much as touched it, it might perish.
She tried not to think about the days to come and what she was going to do with the little...thing. She also tried not to fume at being paired with Morton...a non demon. Still he seemed nice enough and he was friends with Coralie so maybe this wouldn't be wretchedly painful.

((Profile is here!)) For a moment, Belladonna turned to gaze at the creature she was to be raising her soon to be baby with. He had lovely feathers and she rather liked his hair cut, but she had never met him before and he looked a little shy. The fact that this was a class and she needed a good grade caused her to stand and walk in halting steps toward the desk, sign her name and carry the pumpkin back to her seat, where she cradled it in her many layers of skirts. But the familiar fear of some screaming, crying thing filled her up. She wasn't ready to be a mother!! Taking a second to inspect the pumpkin for any strange markings, she turned to Julian. "I.... Hi... I'm your....... Baby's mother." Hmmm. That sounded off. "Oh. And Belladonna."

Morton arched a brow at Sin, though he couldn't help the slow smirk that spread across his features as he watched her go fetch the pumpkin. He remain perfectly happy at his seat, his head cradled in one hand thanks to the elbow he'd propped up on the table.
So the demoness wanted to take the lead? That was more than fine with him! If anything, the gargoyle looked amused, though he did have the grace to wipe the smile off his face when he turned to pay attention to the teacher (whom was frankly, vaguely horrifying, even if she hadn't done that much to scare them).
He figured he'd have to have a... talk with Sin so they could coordinate the whole thing, because despite everything, he actually did want to pass this class. Still, the vague mirth he felt due to the situation he'd found himself in did not really vanish; it still tinkled in his eyes as he reclined himself back in his seat.

Siddie blinked. Tybalt? Who the heck was Tybalt? She'd never seen him before. At least, she assumed he was a boil - that was usually a boil's name, wasn't it? She looked around the classroom, trying to figure out who this mysterious partner of hers was.
... was he going to keep the pumpkin, or was she? Oh oh. She'd only just gotten her schinks trained to use their box. What if whatever came out of the pumpkin was messy?

Sin decided to sit next to Morton and wiggled in beside him before carefully tilting forward her eyes a bit narrowed. Her dress was better for showing off things besides 'babies', hardly a matronly outfit, but Sin trusted the boil to behave. "This is m-our baby." She had wanted to say hers, Sin was an only child and not used to having to share anything, but this was the 'father' of the new charge so she supposed she would have to get used to it.
"You can't touch her though...you might break her." She slowly leaned back cradling the pumpkin...apparently Sin had determined it was a girl...yay! Her reluctance to even let Morton hold the pumpkin was probably thanks to her upbringing. Everyone knew that a succubi had to guard her children lest her mate in a jealous rage tear the child to bits...or so it had gone in Sin's family.

Children?Malodore blinked several times. Igneous... who was Igneous? The name rang a faint bell, and Malodore quietly peered around the room until it spotted the name's owner. That's right, it'd seen her in the band auditions... she'd been in one of the other bands. Living stone, from the look of her. Huh. The plague doctor stood up and padded up to the desk to pick up their 'baby', thoroughly nonplussed. (( Profile~))

Tahki sat up straighter as the names of the groups were called. Lizzy? She'd heard that name a few times in class but never talked to the girl before. Tahki blinked and looked around for her partner.
Which one was Lizzy again? The gryphon got up from her seat to stand out in the open so her partner might find her. Surely Lizzy would have trouble locating the gryphon with her hidden in such a big group. It only made since to stand out in the open.
(pending on parent profile til me and my partner talk : D )

Still amused, he found himself arching a brow yet again as the demoness sat beside him, forcing him to scoot on over to give her enough room so they weren't uncomfortably close. Then again, he did it more for her sake than his, seeing as how he'd never really had a big problem with physical contact. Amusingly enough, behave he did, and as she present him the 'creature' in question, he tilted his head to one side, "Uh-huh... well, I don't think it's captured either of our good looks. I'm sorry for it," he made no move to touch it, but did give her a mild smirk as she pressed on, "Yeah, uhm, I don't know about that. I think we're gonna have a tiny bit of trouble parenting the..." he cut himself off, unsure how to call 'it', "We're gonna have trouble parenting if I can't touch my own baby. You can't posibly take care of it all by yourself - you're gonna want me to take it with me SOME days and I'm not sure how you want me to do that if I can't touch it," a pause followed, and then he smirked again, "Hon," he made sure to stress the word out, just so she could tell he was teasing her.
He leaned into her just slightly, almost like a dog would have, and took a small sniff at the air near the pumpkin, "And just how do you know it's a her?" it didn't really... look like the boil was going to be particularly dangerous at least, seeing as how after sniffing, he leaned back into his chair, perfectly at ease with both the demoness and the assignment, not to mention the whole world.

She smirked a bit at his first comment, no the 'baby' didn't exactly look like them at all, which wasn't exactly a surprise. "well it's not UGLY it just lacks our...flair...I'm sure we could fix that..." She murmured and tilted her head eyeing the pumpkin and trying to decide how to improve it's features...perhaps first she ought to try giving it some features to improve.
"We have to name her, especially if you want to touch her, a name creates a bond, it will make it so you won't want to eat her. Except of course we must also give her a short name so she doesn't have to reveal her TRUE name." Sin's family was apparently of the notion that if a reaper learned your true name they could use it to enslave you, who knew where they got all these crazy ideas from, but they were very strict in following age old traditions.
"Of course it's a her, if it was a HE I couldn't dress it up all pretty or take it shopping when it...grows." Then she gave a little cough realizing she had let her imagination run away with her, how silly to think that a pumpkin was going to grow up like some adorable little ghoul. "Well...it's a her because I want it to be, why have you always wanted a little boil of your own?"

Shehk wasn't just hopeful, she was hopeful, sitting up ever-so-straight when she realized she'd been left off the list of people who were partnered up with anybody.
Did this mean she could leave and not have to deal with Cricket's class? DID IT?
She'd love it. She'd like that a lot, actually. However, the leer she earned when Cricket leered down upon her garnered a frown, her ears drooping.
"Umm....I don't have a partner..... Can I leave?" she asked, probably sounding a little -too- hopeful, because Cricket immediately shut her down;
"No. You'll need to stick around until all of the pairs have claimed their children.... 'children'."
Another shriek came from the ghost-woman's desk and a pair of yellow beady eyes peered up over the edge of the desk before Cricket removed her scarf (NEKKID NECK! GASP!) and tossed it onto the creature, which shrieked in protest, again wailing with a noise that made Shehk want to scale a wall.
That nooiiissseeeeee.
Clearly Cricket had brought WHATEVER it was with her to inspire people to do well.

"I'd love to see you try to... give 'her' the flair you so feel she deserves," he leaned forward again, this time to prop his head on a hand as he drummed his free fingers on the surface of the table, "But I'm not sure how aaaah... counter productive that'd be for our project. Are you sure it won't wail or something?" he'd heard what nurse Cricket had said, after all, and didn't feel like discovering if the thing could indeed make his ears bleed, "Also, just so you know,"a smirk spread across his features again, "I did not miss that compliment you just threw my way. I have flair, huh?" it was harmless teasing. As far as he was concerned, if they could withstand the teasing and banter, friendship could be born from this.
A snort followed her next set of words, "Well of course I want to touch her; she's my baby and I'm in my right!" he didn't really sound upset, still maintain that particularly amused tone of voice as he regarded both the pumpkin and the demoness. He'd heard something about demons and how vulnerable they were when someone got a hold of their real names, and the fact she was pretty much thinking along those lines for the pumpkin made him chuckle slightly, "Ahh... how about Mel?" and he took the liberty to lean in forward and whisper the full name into Sin's ear, apparently feeling right at home with doing so, "Melanie," he pulled away and settled back comfortably in his chair, "There's lots of ways to spell it too, so it'd be hard to guess the correct one."
Eying the pumpkin, he allowed both his brows to arch and vanish into his hair, "Uhhh.... I dunno, hon. I don't really think I can tell if it's a girl or a boy just by looking at it. But whatever floats your boat! If you want it to be a girl, that's fine by me - I just we call it... Charleen and then find out it was a Charlie all along," despite his words, he seemed rather amused by the simple notion, "Not really, no, I don't mind either way," he lifted both his hands as if in mock defense, and then eyed her curiously again, grinning so that his teeth could be seen, "And I'm not gonna eat it. Not sure if you've noticed, but... I don't eat things. Not like that. It'd only make a mess," as he said that, he hooked a finger on the front of his jumper and it revealed that beyond his 'throat' there were merely bones.
