((1. No problem. 2. Okay, I know from experience of having a love one in the ICU, that no wireless devices are allowed in. However, a wired internet connection is fine. 3. From what I've observed and read, I consider to the Gaian Republic to consist of Durem, Barton, Aekea, and Gambino Island originaly, with Yaits City being a recent addition. Barton would be the capital, and the territory would consist of most the center of the main continent. The other cities would be independent city states, with Latent and Lament being possible allied city states of the Gaian Republic.))

Lucind
"Honestly, I didn't do much. Wasn't me who finished off the Behemoth." A wry grin. "But I guess I did a good job as a distraction for this beast. - Anyways, I heard the clear-up operations are proceeding well and that most of the damage in the town will be fixed withing a couple of weeks. Good to hear that..."

"The port operations are going exceptionally well," Yaits said, "Unfortunately, none of the other corporate powerhouses wished to assist us with the sewer restructuring plan, we've tripled our own efforts, but can expect at least a month's delay until Latent's sewer system is fully operational. The good news is, the outer appearance of Latent will be reconstructed on schedual."

Yaits sighed with a smiled, "This should be interesting for you, The Preacher, I don't know why but he preffers to be known simply as The Preacher, is leading the charge for the Charitable Order Party in this month's elections for parlaiment of the Gaian republic. He has my undampered support, and may very well become Gaia's next prime minister considering his immense popularity. He will be announced as the Charitable Order's top man today."

The Preacher almost blushed, "That's quite a vote of confidence, Mr Yaits, thank you. I assure you that the Charitable Order Party intends to address problems that are not being dealt with. you can look up our platform on our website, and I humbly petition you for your vote."

Lucind
"By the way, Mr. Yaits. Did they find any weapons at the docks? I think especially Vahn would be glad to see his sword back by his side^^ "
The Half-Siren had left behind another set of throwing knives, which was not worth mentioning. But it really bugged her that also her second pair of wah sikeils could be lost as well...

Yes, the Charitable Order had recovered the weapons, and for the term of Vahn's and Lucind's recovery, they had been stowed for safe keeping in the Temple of Ymir, where they had been cleaned, tested, and especially blessed by the temple authorities.

Yaits smiled, "Look inside the rose basket," he said, "Don't worry, there are no thorns."

If she'd look inside the huge basket she'd find a set of finely polished throwing knives and her second pair of wah sikeils weighting down the basket.

"The nurse tells us that you'll soon be ready to leave the ICU today," The Preacher said.

"However," Yaits added, "Your partner and that arm of his isn't so fortunate. Feel free to recuperate here as long as you need, even if it is just to be by his side. Compliments of Yaits Corp. Don't worry about Vahn, he'll be ready to leave the ICU in about three days, quite remarkable for a man who came here in his condition."

She nodded. "My congratulations, Preacher. I'm sure a new wind would do the Republic some good. Not that we're having some sort of political crisis, but it's never wrong to listen to new ideas and another point of view."

Then Lucind did as Yaits asked and smiled loopsided when she pulled out her slim short blades. "Thank you very much. I wouldn't have wanted to explain someone I lost a second pair," the woman chuckled.

Hearing she could leave today was another surprise, but then again, her wounds, that is, the skin grafting on her hands and ripcage most likely were in a state now that every other doc could look after.
"...I guess I'll stay a bit longer then."

Maybe she got the chance to have a word with Vahn, more than just a few lines. After all, they hadn't had a real conversation since that episode at the ruins...

And then came a man with blond hair and green eyes. His car sat before the entrance of Yaits City, and his face was a hard line with a determined look in the eyes. This was it- the best place to be when it came to information about Yaits Corp. Of course, he wasn't here for the lights and showgirls- he was here for business.

That said, he entered the city, wondering how he would best be able to infiltrate the source of these troubles. It seemed impossible; everything here from the police department to the phone company was under Yaits' control. It'd suck to turn any evidence of foul play in to these guys...

Perhaps it would do well to go elsewhere with it. That was, if he could get out with his skin intact. But it was go time, for the moment.

Unlike the other members of his team, this guy was ready for his work. He had a Writ of Consent all in his head, with every possible weapon he'd need. Preferably with attachments that wouldn't make so much noise. After all, this was the center of operations. It wouldn't do well if he just came in with a compact pistol and his own two hands, just in case he got into trouble.

It'd be sent by an encrypted, secure fax number, untracable by even this company's standards. If all went well, he'd go in with quite a few things that were necessary for getting in, getting what he needed, and getting out.

In any event, he drove up to the security station, said that he was here for pleasure, was checked for anything (and the guard found nothing), and he went in.

"My congratulations, Preacher. I'm sure a new wind would do the Republic some good. Not that we're having some sort of political crisis, but it's never wrong to listen to new ideas and another point of view."

"Oh!" exclaimed the preacher, "There is more than a political crises, there is a crises of humanity. The treatment of the poor in the inner cities is atrocious, over a million Gaian's are denied there Ymir given rights in the city of Aekea just because they are robotic or prosthetic, taxes are too high, spending is out of control, the entire Barton parliment is riddled with swine who care about nothing but lining their own pockets while the masses sweat and die. I'm telling you Miss Varhetel, there must be a reckoning if the Republic is to survive, and I intend to be Ymir's instrument in bring forth that reckoning!"

"He's quite enthusiastic about his beliefs," Mr. Yaits said, "Still, I believe in platform thoroughly, most of it. Please, sir Preacher, I believe this isn't the time for your ideals."

Lucind
"Thank you very much. I wouldn't have wanted to explain someone I lost a second pair," the woman chuckled.

"I'm glad we could be of assistance, you can thank the Charitable Order," Yaits said, "They recovered the weapons at the site."

Lucind
"...I guess I'll stay a bit longer then."

"That would be the prudent thing to do," Yaits smiled, "I believe we better see a bit of our other friend, but first, if you'd allow me the honor. I'd like to bestow upon you this platinum pin with the Yaits Corp emblem, as an award for your bravey in Latent."

If she would allow, he'd pin it to her hospital robe, and she would be invited to join them while they visited Vahn, if she felt up to it.

The guard would find nothing, because this guard, was nothing more than a glorified toll booth operator.

"2 and half credits,"

That was the fee to use the new highway going from Durem to Yaits City, someone had to pay for all this road construction. Otherwise, despite the highway being the only road into the city, the city was open, no walls, no gates. Nothing to keep people from coming and going freely except airfare or a toll booth. And the only reason for that was the entire western portion of the continent being an undeveloped region, well, Yaits city was helping to change that.

So this man would easily enter the Gaia's newest city, so many places to go, so many things to see, question was, what would he do next? It may be easy to get certain weapons and equipment into the city proper, but it was nowhere near as easy to get them by certain other establisments, even if he did have a permit.

She was thankful for this official sign of gratitude, really - but fastening this pin to her robe would've been still a little...grotesque, and the idea almost made her giggle. Therefore, Lucind put the pin to her other things and promised to find a proper case for it once she was back at Latent.

And she would follow both men into Vahn's room, but stayed in the background, leaning against the wall.

Who said anything about getting them from here?

The weapons from this city would be easily traced back to him. Then again, they'd be traced to only him. Maybe that'd work to his advantage. He wouldn't be able to get them into the hotel room he was staying in, though. That said, he would do this his way.

Besides, it's not like he needed the weapons just yet. And the guns he was looking for were quite... special. Harder to trace and track. Definitely not military issue. And definitely not found here.

In any case, he drove towards the nearest three-star hotel, which was further into the heart of the city, and booked a room for the next two weeks. That'd probably be enough time; if it wasn't, he'd extend his stay. But he figured that'd be enough time if he got moving immediately.

Once he was checked in, he hooked up his computer, activated the internet access, and logged in. First things first- he needed data about Yaits Corp. He could just walk up and ask, but why do that when you're already online? Of course, the data he was looking for was not on the web page, but it would help to have a background- see what kind of mask they were wearing so he could tear it off when the time came.

Vahn's bouquet would be slightly different from Lucind's, as it would be composed half of Red roses, and half of rare black roses, with petals the color of india ink. Yaits entered the room cautiously and repectfully, if Vahn was asleep and not to be awoken, he would quietly scan the patient before leaving and leave the honors on the table. If he was awake, he would take his glove off before extening his hand to the hero's good arm. He wanted to sense something, the voice he had heard before, the one that held so much truth about humanity, he wanted to hear it again. He wouldn't interfere with Vahn in any way, keeping his powers to himself, he just wanted to sense that voice.

One more time, let me hear you, I want to know what you are.

"So, I presume you are Vahn Kyonoske," he said, "The hero of Latent."

Where is the other one? Where is the voice I heard. Does this voice have a name? Where can I find it?

Yaits Corporation: Always looking up, never letting you down

This would be followed by paragraph upon paragraph listing Yaits Corporation acheivments already well known to those in the know. Such as Latent Reconstruction, the building of Yaits City, donations to charity, pursuit of new technology to save people's lives, etc.

There were links to other branches of the company.

Yaits Insurance
Yaits Banking
Yaits Media Corporation
Yaits Industrial
Yaits Aerospace
Yaits Mineral Exploration Project

Benson Pharmacuticals
Benson Beautification Products
Relaxathon Casino's
Relaxathon Home Entertainment

There was a link to the Charitable order along with other charitable groups under the heading of Yaits Corp, Opposing the Image of Corporate Greed.

Nothing here that he didn't know already. It was all a front, every piece of it. The Insurance, Banking, and Media sections were effective misleads. The real dirt was probably in Yaits Industrial, Yaits M.E.P., Benson Pharmacuticals, and the Charitable Order.

Those were the big four... and one of them was obvious, due to pre-mission data that he had aquired from headquarters.

Another possible link was Aerospace, but it was a far cry from what he wanted. Still, it was worth a shot. He'd look into it later.

He decided to start with the Pharmacutical division. Medical firms were known to house viruses, and he had known a few that secretly developed biological weaponry. This was probably no exception. He just needed to find the right visual cues in the text, and he was good.

That was, if there were any.

Benson Pharmacueticals, before the purchase by Yait's Corporation they primarily specialized in influenza vacinations, not they were a primary manufacturer of all types of vaccines, even supplying the military. And also heavily involved in medical research. There would be mention and discusion of a vacine that would prevent zombification in the event of death that was in develpment.

A new type of Botulism that could be injected for facials to rid those cheeks of wrinkles without as much tightness and facial expression imparement was also touted.

That would lead into Benson Beautification products, a facial cream with the ability to make one look ten years younger for up to a week after use was on the market, and it had been selling in massive quantities, making the company billions of dollars.

Of course, the fact that it had been selling well and making billions of dollars was to be found on other sites unrelated to Yaits corp, but it was a fact.

Hn... smart of them. But I'm starting to wonder what the deal is here...

And I don't entirely trust this beauty cream thing either, or the injections. But that's trivial- I'm intereted in this vaccine. Not to mention anything else they've got holed up in there.

He filed the information in his mind for later, and moved on to the M.E.P. As far as he heard, someone else on his team was on the hunt there. it'd do well to provide background information for her. Thus, he took a look at it...

Yaits Mineral Exploration Project: Dedicated to making the resourses of Gaia available to consumers of all classes.

The Aekea mines, and the oil feilds to the east of the city, while fruitful, can not continue to be Gaia's primary source of mineral wealth, as non-renewable resource prices continue to skyrocket.

Barthavos Desert:

A Yaits patented, mine and move, mining sytem has been developed to make mining for small quantities of precious metals profitable, bringing more precious jewels on the market and increasing Gaia's gold, silver, and platinum reserves. As well as establishing conventional mines for boron, mercury, tin, salt, and sulpher.

A massive search for untapped oil deposits in Barthavos was underway, a few minor wells have been found, unprofitable by conventional standards, a new Yaits mobile pumping system has been designed to drain them of oil without disturbing the environment and move on to the next site once the yeild is dry. Massive stretches of worthless land has been purchased for the drilling sites, and for the production of windmills to help power Yaits city.

Long Term Thinking For Our Future Energy Needs: It seemed that a port was under construction in the barren western edge of the continent, the port was also a construction facility for oil rigs. Oil rigs that would line the northern ocean, were massive oil reserves remained unexploited, and untapped.

Tundra of Guldor:

Oil drills would be appearing in the Tundra of Guldor very shortly. As it was suspected that there was possibly hidden wealth below the soil. If not, it was definately to be found underneath the waters of the northern ocean in unimaginably massive quatities.
