Emma noticed a few drops of Rusty's blood decorating the ground beneath them. She ducked another swing of the sword, dipping towards the droplets and brushing them with her fingers.
Blood magic was a dangerous business, but when done right, the results could be catastrophic. Rusty would feel Emma's presence within his veins, slowing the flow of blood to his brain in an effort to render him unconscious.

"Y-you're just full of surprises," he groaned.
Rusty's vision was horrible thanks to the blood loss, but now it was getting hard to think coherently. He attributed that to the blood magic. By all means, Rusty wasn't a mage. But Emma was infamous famous for her use of magic, and she was controlling the flow of blood in his body; so the King just put two and two together.
With little else to do at this point, Rusty threw his shield again. His aim was off, but he had hoped he was still accurate enough to stop Emma.

The shield would have hit her had she not managed to duck. The shining metal whirled over her head, taking a few strands of hair with it.
Emma had not released the spell, not yet. Rusty was putting up a good fight, but the blood magic still held him. Weakly, but it was a hold nonetheless.

"Few men have the stamina that I do," he said with a groan. He realized what he said was a double entendre. It wasn't on purpose, but it was still quite fitting of how he carries himself when he isn't serious.
With a loud scream, Rusty mustered up all of his strength. With his adrenaline guiding him, he charged Emma with a shoulder block. He hoped that it would send her reeling so then he could deliver a body slam.

For a moment, there was nothing but pain.
Emma's vision went black, but she forced her eyes back open and found herself flat on her back.
But the enchantress forced herself back to her feet, ignoring the painful reminders form her body that she should not.

Rusty unleashed a flurry of punches upon his opponent. To the spectators, his swift movements seemed to be nothing but a gold blur. Emma's head, arms, and legs were the main targets of his piston assault.

She bore the punches without a sound, refusing to let him force her back to her knees.

As fast as Rusty was, his haste quickened. Emma's refusal to stay down worked to his advantage. She was more than likely too fatigued to truly utilize her speed. His continuous punches proceeded.

Violet light flared around her as she deflected a few punches, and she released her hold on the blood magic.
A weak fireball emerged from the tips of her fingers, giving her enough time to get out of Rusty's reach.

Rusty's last attack took quite a bit out of him. Bruised, bloody, shocked, and burned, the King had reached his limit. He eventually collapsed from the strain of battling the talented enchantress.

Emma ran to Rusty's side, using the last of her power to awaken him-
And then there was an arm around her, a spell guiding her into sweet rest. The enchantress slumped in her husband's arms, laid out gently as he lowered her down.
The sorcerer saw to Rusty's wounds, restoring his energy and reversing the blood loss before turning back to his wife.

Sometime had passed since Rusty had dueled another. Now the masses had clamored after hearing of today's duel. Once again, Rusty would face off against the Baroness of Necropolis!

Rusty made a grand entrance, riding a top of a mighty gryphon! The landing was less than Rusty had expected, but had been a while since he had ridden on his family's sacred beast.

Alnette had chosen a more subtle entrance. She had simply strode in, pointing at Rusty. An oddly plumaged vulture dove at him, raking at him with its talons.
