Meanwhile on the surface, the rest of the survivors took refuge on top of a large building and barricaded the entrance.

"God this stench is horrid," Nix said as she crawled behind him with the flash light on her gun on so they could see. Finally they made it out. "Lets carefully head to the elevator at the other end of the room..."

Jim walked across the hall with extreme caution, he noticed that some of the camera's were moving on them, "Nix, I think we better hurry, before something bad happens," and activates the elevator.

Nix nodded and saw a creature from the corner of her eye jumped toward her from a dark part of the room. She quickly ducked and shot the thing which made others jump out. She ran toward the elevator where Jim stood waiting. She ran in and pushed the button for the 4th floor and began shooting those who got to close to the doors.

The elevator began to move slowly down, but then there were bizzare scraping sounds coming from the top of the elevator, then the top hatch broke down to the floor and an FEV came to the floor and made a blackened roar. "GEEZ!" Jim shouted out and began open fire, but before the creature even attacked, it pounced upwards, and sliced the cable. "Crap! were going down! Quick! we need to jump up and leap for the ladder!"

"Right," Nix said as she jumped up and pulled herself up from the opening and held her hand out for Jim to help him up a bit. She waited for a couple seconds when she helped him up and jumped when she spotted the ladder.

Jim spotted a sign reading floor 11, "Were close, let's keep moving," luckily for Jim there was an air duct for him to crawl through, "through here, let's go."

Nix heard a creak...then a snap. The ladder had snapped off the wall so Nix had no choice put to jump off and grab onto the duct that was just a level up from 11. "Crap..."

"It's ok, i'll meet you on floor 12! Just go!" and Jim kicked down a bar and hopped down to floor 12, he found a large door with an Eye symbol on it.

"Just stay out of harms way....i know how to get through the big doors...don't try and figure it out or you'll just kill yourself!" She said as she was now on the 11th floor. The place was quiet and cold...it was just too quiet. She could hear her breathing which was calm but a bit shaky. She had to guns with her one with the flashlight. She could only see the things in front of her. She had to find a duct soon.

"But before Jim even remotely moved after what she told him not to do, the doors opened anyway. The room was dark and Jim did not dare put himself in peril, then the lights were activated, and two men, built muscularly, both with spiked knuckles, stood between a man in a formal dress suit. "Hmph hmph hmph, at last, someone new." the shady man said in a deep yet almost welcoming voice.

Nix heard a voice behind her and turned around to see a man in a lab coat, "You!" She said before she felt a heavy object hit her head. The last thing she saw was feet coming toward her. When she came too she saw what Jim was seeing. "Wh-where am i..." She muttered as felt something warm running down her face. She was helped up by the man in the coat and some buff guy.

"I swear you lay a bloody hand on her and I'll break every bone in your whole body!" Jim spat in rage. "Ah, but you won't see the coming of the new age of man if you do that." And pulled out a needle with an orange liquid in it and injected it into the man on his right, the once muscular human began to transform into an infected monster with jet black eyes, and small pigments of blue and green began to show on the man's body, and then, Jim was almost immidiately engaged into combat.

Nix watched it all but it was somewhat of a blur. She then remember the orange liquid when she had last visited. The man in the lab coat chuckled, "Good luck killing him...he's not like the other...he won't die easily."
Nix looked over at the man then at Jim, "That liquid contains what we need to make the cure..." She said weakly as the blood continued flowing down her face.
"You blood will attract many zombies," the muscular guy holding her up said with a laugh.
