For example, a baby is atheistic, but lacks the mental faculty to construct an abstract omnipresent/omnipotent moralistic entity.

According to this, wouldn't a Baptist think differently? From a historical viewpoint, this was the cause of the persecution of Anabaptists during the 16th & 17th century, no?

Of religion, I have only had a historical viewpoint. So certainly, a God exists for some people. Yes, I believe there was a... person (Jesus?) who gathered his apostles and gained many followers due to the daily life conditions. Eh, I believe a deity of some sort exists. But the face of the deity is different for each person. Whether it be the Judeo-Christian belief of God, Medusa, an elephant, Buddah, a women with 7arms, or the Easter bunny. So... I believe in something and call it my god, but not the Judeo-Christian belief of God (if that makes sense). It doesn't have a face or figure, but it's more of a spirit? A sense of being? Concept of? If I had to label it, it would be closer to Buddah's message... I think. I'm comfortable with any religion, but do not feel the need for one to be obnoxiously pushy about one's religion. I'm fine with what you have, but if you try to convert me and tell me I'm going to Hell for not believing in your God, I will want to smack you. Then tell you I'm pretty sure there is no Hell. :B

Well, whether or not a baby is truly atheistic is a matter of some debate. I'd simply make the case that if you ask a child who hasn't been to church who "God" is, they won't know.

Aye, sorry. I guess I have no true feeling about that because as a 4yr old, I was told I was going to hell and did not exist (from another 4year old) because I did not believe in her belief of God. That was... an interesting day.

Just to be clarify here:

An Atheist does not believe in god.

If you wish to converse in a language it helps to know the meaning.

There is no "strong" or "weak" or "demi-" attatched to the definition.

you are not an atheist.

I'm sorry if this upsets you

People are grouped all the time, like "Buddhist", "Christian", "Black," "elderly, "disabled." or "male". A single attribute does not define a person. It is human nature to categorize and discern differences and similarities, and thus we have adjectives. Our perceptions, beliefs and opinions are reflected by our choice of language.

CAPITALIZATION HAS AN EFFECT

There is nothing inherently wrong with being atheist or not being atheist.

If we made a big Venn diagram of people and beliefs you would not be in the circle marked "atheist" because you do not disbelieve in god, a prerequisite to the atheist group.

Continuing of the subject of language and definition, there are multiple definitions of god, deity and worship that vary depending on culture. Worship is not integral to deification, except apparently to you and your personal belief in god.

I do not understand why you define a god as someone deserving worship, why you would need to place one above you and lower yourself to be spiritual. It's really confusing. I would guess either you want it, fear it or both. Desire an fear are the prime motives of humanity. But that really is your own issue to deal with.

You have said that you do not disbelieve in gods, you just haven't found one worshiping. That firmly puts you out of the atheist category.

If you haven't encountered a culture that doesn't worship all the gods they believe in, well, that just show that you don't get out much.

Fear is not worship. Objectification, however, can be.

Veneration is respect, which would include an animist respect for a rock, a mountain, a bird, the air, lunch etc..
Again, this definition would apply to Hollywood starlets and pop idol. Hell, they're even called idols

As for proving/disproving god:
determine if the multiverse is finite or infinite in probability.
If infinite, everything exists and doesn't exist simultaneously
if finite, itemize the multiverse. When your done you'll have your answer.

We aren't there yet, but quantum physicist are making strides in that direction.

A hypothesis is not null simply because it is beyond your imaginings.

Refer to basically, all of Asia and pretty much everything not White and you will find gods that are respected but not worshiped.

That is clearly worshipful if you are defining respect as worship with your very questionable understanding language, humanities and sociology.
By the same token, the Raiders and Miley Cyrus are American Gods, as are Mc Donalds and PepsiCola now internationally.
I have never seen Salmon or Raven as ritualistically celebrated as any given Super Bowl.
A bowl of rice is not at all treated the same a crucifix of the first ball thrown of a World Series.

The problem isn't where you're are looking. It's that you don't know how to see.

If you actually take the time to learn and understand....put on some hermaneutical glasses, if you will, instead of throwing (ironically) umbrella terms of 'White man's' view of another culture....

Except, an atheist need not reject the possibility of god. Which is what I was trying to explain from the start.

I don't know why this is so hard for you to comprehend.
