The boulder creature apparently liked this one, too, so he moved past and was immediately on alert. He didn't want to accidentally run into that other creature... But he hadn't managed to go by unnoticed. As soon as he heard the growl and the unknown creature shot off to try and find him, Julian was off at a run, hoping he'd get past again.

He must have taken a wrong turn, because the next thing he knew, he was chased out of maze. The growling made it clear there was no way he was getting back into the maze any time soon.

Several days passed before West thought of the maze again. He had been scribbling something completely unrelated to botany on his botany homework when the purple ball he had retrieved from the maze burst open, spilling a strange purple cat-thing onto his desk. Not more damn pets!
He grabbed the scareon by the scruff of its neck and hauled it to Professor Byrn's maze. Not twenty paces in, he heard the familiar whine of that damn imp.
"waaaaaaahhhhh my fooooooooooot," it wailed.
"GEDDOUTTAHEEEEEEER!" West bellowed as he rounded the corner. By the time he reached the spot the imp had been standing his previous time through the maze, the little green man had already fled.

Next up was the boulder man, apparently. Was this place meant to have the same stuff in it every time he came through?
"STORRRRR--"
"Yeah igottit," West interrupted. "Lessee..."
The wrath demon launched into a tale his father had told him once, a tale all about a pair of twin brothers who spent nine years experiencing the brothels of Halloweentown, except instead of demons, he made the protagonists boulder men. The rock thing didn't seem to have a verbal response, but it moved aside for West and his pet anyway.

Secretly doubting his ability to get away from the giant mean beast while also holding a small animal, West just began to run when he heard the thing this time instead of taunting it. He might have been embarrassed, but hey, no one was around to see him.

This was it. His chance to throw this stupid purple cat back into the bin it had came from. But what was this? Some huge horsey ghost b*****d was waiting for him!
"Hey, y'drop'd this," he tried to say as he ran past, the slathering beast from earlier hot on his trail.
The horse thing growled and lunged, and in his surprise, West jumped back, dropping the purple scareon. The nerve!
Rather than hissing or running and hiding, the little scareon reared up on its back paws and scratched at the air, thoroughly distracting the horse ghost long enough for West to escape.
Hmmph. Wasn't that something? A useful pet. If that thing made it out alive, West was going to have to let it stick around or something.

Amrita decided to give this a shot; learning about other Creatures would be helpful, especially if she wanted to make herself better at this...thing! This living thing. So into the maze she went, looking around and trying her best to stay standing. Whoa, this was rather neat! She'd never seen a class like this before! Before long she came across an imp though, one that appeared injured! Oh no, the poor thing! If it was one thing she'd learned already, it was that her usual 'don't talk to anything but zombies unless spoken to first' never really counted when there was something that was hurt.
"Ah! That doesn't look nice at all! Here, let me, um, help!" The imp managed to stay still long enough for her to find the source of the problem - a splinter. "Aah...this might sting..." She warned the creature before managing to get a grip on the end with her nails (after taking a couple tries to get it and nearly pushing it in deeper), and tugged it out.
"There you go." She said quietly, keeping the splinter instead of throwing it away in case it stepped on it again. The creature ran off, and the Vetala continued on.

Feeling mightly pleased with herself at a job well done, Amrita wandered along the path, too busy being proud of herself to hear the weird noises...right up until she nearly walked into something blocking her path. Something...that looked remarkably like an unmoving boulder! With a little cry she scampered back, tripping over her toes and hitting the ground on her bottom.
Wait...it was demanding a story?! Oh! Oh this she could do! The Famous Baital, the Vetala from the old stories, was a master at them! She knew these stories off by heart...well, mostly. She had to make it up at some points due to lapse of memory.
"---And that's how Baital defeated the ugly old Human King, and went back to his tree!" She finished loudly, proud and eager with the story. It seemed passable, for the boulder moved and she continued on....after getting back to her feet.

She didn't get very far before she realized she was being watched. before long s rather intimidating creature caught her off guard; she considered continuing forward, right up until she saw a head poke through the bushes. With a surprised cry she turned and fled, the creature right on her toes, until she was out of the maze and back to safety.

Oh Jack she was late! She was so late! Junko hurried to the class, having been delayed because her pesky scareon had been fighting with her poor little pygmy foxes. There was no way Junko could let herself leave the room while her babies were being antagonized. Luckily when she got there it seemed she...wasn't going to be getting in trouble? She blinked, staring at the maze before her. This was their class? Well...alright then, she'd give it a try.
"I don't think this is such a good idea." She said warily, but Junko merely shrugged.
"Why would a professor set up something unsafe for us?" Junko paused. "Don't answer that." And then she continued on her way, cautiously beginning to trek through the maze.

"Owwwwww! Owowowowowwwww!" Came a tiny cry, startling Junko and looking around. What was that?! The whine was heard again and she spotted where it was coming from. An imp? How strange, why wasn't it trying to do any impish things? That's what imps did, imp things. But why was it sitting on the ground holding its foot? She frowned, getting closer to see what was the matter. Aww! It had a splinter? How sad! Those things really hurt, huh? The imp whimpered and looked up at Junko with big, sad, pleading eyes. "Helphelpheeeeeeelp?"
Junko frowned and got down on one knee beside the imp. "Let me see it." The imp stuck its gross foot out for Junko to see and she made a slight face, gingerly holding it by the ankle and turning the foot so she could see the splinter. Yeugh. It was really in there! "Here, I'll um...do my best to get it out." Junko reached into her sleeve for a moment and dug around until she found what she was looking for; her pincushion. Never leave home without a needle in thread in case of an emergency! "You'll want to close your eyes..." She warned it, waiting for it to do just that before she picked out a needle and used it to try and break the skin without making it bleed. She managed it after an agonizingly long moment, trying so hard not to hurt it. After that she coaxed the splinter out, nodding to the imp's thanks and watching it run off.
After putting the needle and cushion away Junko stood and continued further into the maze.

This wasn't so bad! Junko hummed happily to herself as she walked with a little skip in her step...until she reached the boulder. Oh dear, this thing was in her way. Junko looked around for a way to get past it. Maybe she should climb over it? Apparently not, because the moment she touched it the boulder demanded she tell it a story or riddle. Wait, what? "B...but I don't know any off the top of my head!" Not under this kind of pressure! She knew stories but not like this!
Apparently this displeased the boulder, because before Junko could plead for it to get out of her way she heard a loud screech and the rustling of something coming her way. Fast. She gasped, turning on her heel and bolting back to the beginning.
...Jack damnit!

So it was time to play this game again. At least this.. class, if it could even be called it, was consistant and often enough. Riley still didn't think she was actually learning anything from it, though.
Off she went into the maze anyway, determined not to give up so easily this time.

Riley found herself face to face with.. the same exact little imp she'd met last time. She knew nothing further could be gleened from a conversation with this imp, who seemed to find himself in a habit of walking on splintered surfaces lately. Before he could even say a word, Riley walked over, plucked the piece of wood out of his foot, and pushed him out of her way. She had no time for small talk. And judging by the imp's size, it would be small, indeed.

Finally, something interesting was happening. She had chosen not to turn back around once she saw the rock this time, and she was hearing all sorts of chittering around her. So there were creatures in this spot, good. Something better jump out at her soon, so she could subdue it and learn it's every detail.
And yet, nothing came out. Except, perhaps, the voice from the rock itself. That was unexpected.
The rock was asking her for a story. Did she look like a storyteller? She had no mouth. And she was pretty sure this rock didn't have a brain to send her story to. Nevertheless, she tried.
