The male appeared to be tired too, his own yawn escaping his maw. The black pup trudged closer to the female, plopping down on the ground beside her. After another yawn, John laid his head down on Jane's back, his wings fanning out slightly to cover her in a protective way.

Warmed by John's presence, the female brought her maw to the ground, settling in for slumber. "Goodnight John.." she muttered, slowly shutting her eyes.

John's own eyes shut, the pup snuggling into his mate a bit before falling asleep.

Jane's conciousness slowly slipped from her as well. She would stay in a state of light sleep for most the night, a measure of protection from her enemies should they try to attack her while she slept.

"The world is nothing but a lie Cypher...merely an illusion..."
The words echoed in the pup's mind, the meaning lost. Earlier, the pup had a dream...a dream that confused and disturbed him. Someone was trying to contact him, get him to come to the "real world", and leave this illusion far behind.
What he didn't understand was, if this world was indeed an illusion...why would anyone want to leave it for the supposed "real world"? This place seemed fine...it had everything a Tala would need to live in comfort for their whole life. Why leave that behind for the unknown?
His wings twitched in agitation, the pup trying to shake the thoughts out of his mind so he could go through the rest of the day in peace. The odd markings on his wings and hair seemed to move....though that had to just be caused by the twitching, right?
Cypher came to a stop, eyeing the scene in front of him. Ahead he spotted a tree, with two Tala pups dozing beneath it. Curious, he slinked a bit closer for a better look.
Meanwhile, John was still fast asleep. He apparently wasn't as worried as his mate, and slept heavily rather than lightly.

At the sound of the newcomers pawfalls, Jane's ears pricked up of their own accord, listening. Slowly, the pup herself roused. She lifted her head, searching for a sign of what had woken her.

John snuggled her a bit, still sleeping.
Cypher stopped his advance, the pup standing nearby and watching Jane carefully. While she didn't look like much of a threat...he still had to be ready to run, just in case.

Jane's tired eyes scanned the meadow, finally falling upon Cypher. The pup bolted to her feet, instantly alert. "Who are you?" she growled, ears back.

The sleeping form of John whimpered slightly, the pup curling up more in an attempt to regain the warmth Jane took with her.
Cypher tilted his head slightly, watching the female pup with interest.
"The name's Cypher sweetheart....bit jumpy aren't you?"

Jane ignored her mate for now, focusing her full attention on the newcomer. "You have to be when the meadow that surronds you is filled with enemies. What is your business here?"

"Enemies? I don't even know you, how could I be an enemy?"
The pup smirked, a cool, confident smirk.
"And I don't really have any business, I was just traveling through."

"Then I suggest you continue on your way," the female growled lowly.

Cypher didn't look ready to go. The pup took a moment to smooth out his clothing before addressing her further.
"I'll go when I'm good and ready to, sweetheart."

"You'll go when I tell you or you'll lose more than your way!" the female snapped, her body rigid and wings flared slightly.

At this the other pup finally stirred, the male whining a bit before opening his eyes sleepily.
"W...what's going on?..."
Cypher merely smirked, watching the two. The agitated female didn't seem to phase him.
