I suppose the first order of business is the big gun. The Double Heavy Ion Cannon, Aka, 'The Club'.

But before we choose what the ship is going to lose, whose its owner? This person has obviously either be hired as the team leader, or is Captain under a team Adviser.

Also, providing a character skeleton, feel free to alter it EK.

I leave it to the discretion of whoever created the ship to edit it

The ship wouldn't be owned by us; it's owned by our employer, whomever that turns out to be.

Call it a company vehicle. A very expensive one

Also edited the profile form. I'm now content with it

Owned by the employer...? I cant see that happening...

We need a captain proud of their ship and bonded to it, not just thrown onto a random vessel and told to get the feel.

Just because the captain doesn't own it doesn't necesarily mean it's not his

Look at the various militaries. Technically, the GA owns all those star destroyers, fighter,s and other ships they use in their fleets. But, the CO treats it like his own ship. Same principal

I said it needed less armament. It just looks a little beefy is the biggest thing out there generally is going to be a mildly armed corvette.

Also, I like whomever said corporation as opposed to government. I think working for a private company presents us with more opportunities and challenges. That way, we can only pretty much rely on ourselves and if we need stuff, we won't have to hesitate perhaps taking it from some lightly guarded gov't base.

So did we decide GA era or Republic/Empire era? Cause if we go with the earlier, this Light Corvette that Nelo posted is a sexy beast. It can dock with other ships after we grind them to a pulp and that is just badass.

I dislike the way the Light Corvette looks

I suggested we could work for the CSA. they're near the outer rims, and they always have need of more people to enslave or worlds to stripmine. I can easily see them sending a ship out to scout and claim resources

Right now, the year is pinned about 35 ABY. If we push it up to 43 ABY or so, then we could be employed to go out and find out how Jacen Solo fell to the dark side, and if there's enemies beyond the galaxy proper that we don't know about. Almost like a mix between Revan's mission and Outbound Flight

Personally, I don't care what time frame we play. So long as it's something everyones happy with. I just want a good, involved roleplay. I'm an easy customer.

This is just me, but I suggest stripping the akula of all guns save for maybe two or three anti-fighter turrets, and probably reducing it's shield capacity. We're a civilian ship, not the starship enterprise on a "scouting" mission.

On the issue of the captain, It doesn't even have to be a true 'captain' feel, as on these things, the 'captain' can easily be the head researcher or scientist. In such a case, it's merely the person who's in charge of the logistical nature of the ship, rather than someone who's got the brass balls and takes on military-esque feel. I mean, look at a freighter captain, it's not that he particularily enjoys the ship, but rather that he merely is the one who organizes the crew. Sure, you could make it a person who's got a raging hardon for the metal he commands, but that's merely a secondary interest than a primary function. Captains are traded from ship to ship even in civilian fleets. And if we're going with a corporate employer, it'd probably make the most sense that he's not exactly loyal to the ship, but rather the more logical choice: the guy who's the most trusted in the corporation, possibly making him the meanest, backstabbing guy of the crew, and not very well liked. I'm still suggesting czerka, simply because working for an arms corporation gives us plenty access to weaponry in the future.

I have no idea what kinda role I'd be going for in this.

For that matter, what all crew positions would be needed? If it's a civilian-based deal and funded by a big corporation, would it be reasonable to assume there could be a few uncommon positions?

Like, near the kitchen there could be a small bar, with someone manning the thing as bartender, etc. Also depending on the corporation, maybe someone whose sole purpose is to constantly patrol the ship like a watchdog and start raising Hell at the slightest hint of slacking off instead of doing what they're being payed for.

The captain could just be an NPC or the GM's character.

Is Czerka still in biz around that time frame?

They're in biz by the time of the empire, so what's a few more years in something alive for over a thousand?

If we do it post Vong there's a major effort by the GFFA to find new planets for settlement from the refugees of the war. That could be a motivating factor.

Then we'd have a 40+ year old vessel, nothing like making it a junker to give it character.
