Ok, so I feel like I've asked this before... but I don't think I have, so it's probably just my brain being mush from school-overload. I apologize profusely if I've already asked this ;;;

Someone (Maru? I think it was Maru) brought up that it'd be really cool if the Dream Team could train in the dreamworld. Helios conjures a dream, 'links' them in, and then the arena so to speak would be manipulated by Helios (or if it were one of the other's dreams, they would,) which would create a safe environment for them to train in and manipulate different scenarios. Would this be plausible?

If it's not, is it plausible for them to have meetings in their dreams? It would make for an easier time getting them together, without the risk of exposure, and no time is lost, since they'd be dreaming/sleeping anyway...

Thanks <3

Shazari: You can totally go for it -- certainly a great way Helios can contribute to their team. One thing worth noting is that Danger Room scenarios where Helios is conjuring the enemy or they're otherwise dream-training with each other would be Regular stories as opposed to Battle ones. Fights in the Danger Room aren't real battles and may not perfectly simulate the physics and logistics of real combat -- as to avoid the DBZ Time Room scenario or Neo learning kung fu by plugging into the matrix and then being able to use it the same way outside the matrix -- their minds will remember what they did in the dream, but their bodies won't have any sense memory of having done it. (Otherwise it'd be too unfair to all the other senshi and Negaversers!) But on whole, this is a great way for the Dream Team to build their teamwork and learn to work together, so go for it. <3

Do the Parallel Senshi have to have weapons similar to the ones of their corresponding Moon Court Senshi?

For example: Aphrodite has Heartseeker, which corresponds to the Venus Love-Me Chain.

Shazari: No, they don't have to. <3

Other Similar Question: What about Sailor Cronus and Sailor Hades? Their corresponding Senshi do, in fact, have official weapons outside of attacks.

Shazari: Cronus and Hades aren't required to have polearms. <3

It's been said that a general idea of the timeline of the Silver Millenium is before the age of gunpowder. Would a Negaverse member be allowed to have an explosive weapon? Also, the new Sailor Cebalrai's sphere is fireworks; so is a less modern version of something allowed?

Many real-world characteristics have been brought into the world of ITNOTM, such as websites. What's the limit on this?

Edit: One of Linarite's hobbies is World of Warcraft, which is a RL website. I was wondering how far the allowances on bringing actual things in went-if a character likes a meme from Earth; would the same thing exist in Destiny City?
codalion: Explain what you mean? The world of ITNOTM is, technically, the "real world" -- a fictional American city on the Eastern Seaboard in 2010.

Oh, I see! Yes, it would, characters are constantly making pop culture and internet culture references, including my characters.

With the Meadowview uniform, would a female student be allowed to wear leggings underneath a skirt? For example; would one be allowed to wear hot pink knee-length leggings, or would she have to take those off? What's the limit on this?

codalion: As far as I know, some of the current MV student images have leggings, so the answer would appear to be yes! However, we'll be getting some more codified school writeups up for you guys pretty shortly so hopefully that'll help in general.

SHP seems to have very traditional uniforms. Exactly what are the female uniforms made out of, and are you allowed to wear shorts/leggings/tights under them?

rosemilk: SHP has a pants option for girls, so I imagine it's preferred that if you want a leggings option you wear the pants. It'll be made out of nothing fancy -- rayon polyester blends, cotton blend shirts, etc.

Also, Destiny City has many natural crazy hair colors; are there any hair/eye colors that would be considered unnatural? (As in not born with them?)

rosemilk: We tend to prefer colours be solidchromes -- naturally rainbow hair with naturally rainbow eyes is probably not going to fly, and nor will "I have iridescent hair with peacock spots".

Is it still kosher for Lieutenants to go to Senshi?

Logically, in my POV, with Vivianite's arrival, we've established that once you're a senshi, awakened or not, you'll be known to be a senshi once they touch your starseed. I think Vivianite was originally meant to be corrupted to a Negaverse Lieutenant, but once she was found and corrupted by the Negaverse, she's corrupted Senshi, and not a Lieutenant.

So, yeah, we're a bit unsure about this; clarification please?

Shazari: Sorry I'm a bit obtuse at the moment -- could you rephrase your question a little? I'm not sure I follow and I don't want to answer the wrong question. <3

Alright, the question was, can Lieutenants go to Senshi? This was asked by a newbie in thread. I thought it might go against what we saw from Vivianite; what MK said in thread:
A negaverser is a human who is corrupted (which is why they don't have magic).
A senshi is destined to be a senshi and is why a human is awakened.
A corrupted person who is destined to be a senshi cannot have their starseed corrupted and be a lieutenant. They would be a corrupted senshi.

So when a Negaverse agent is cleansed, they cannot be a senshi, correct? I HOPE I AM MAKING THIS CLEAR

Shazari: You're correct. <3

Twin Senshi are totally allowed but not twin senshi on the same cert, right?

Shazari: I would avoid twin/sibling senshi -- but for reference, no, the only two-character cert you can expect to see is Sailors Gemini I and II.

Just sort of a clarifying question 'cause I'm kinda slow--why would you avoid sibling senshi? Twins I get, there's like a "LOOK HOW SPECIAL WE ARE" vibe going there. For regular old siblings, is it just something you want kept on the downlow, as in "this is not very common let's not have it be too common", or something that should be avoided at all costs?

Asking because this might affect one of my slots, is all :O

Shazari: Definitely not an "avoid at all costs" -- just that we don't want a ton of these, or it starts to look statistically fishy. <3

rosemilk: As senshidom in this case here is not genetic.

QUESTION TIME. I sort of asked coda this already, but I thought it might be relevant for other interested folks.

It is relevant to this previous answer:

Random Artist
Negaverse emit dark energy and senshi emit positive energy right? I was wondering how obvious this energy might be or if it is able to be concealed to some extent? Like regular negaverse agents concealing it, not corrupted senshi?

Cuter: All Negaverse agents emit some form of energy, and that energy grows stronger/more powerful as the character goes up in rank. Tig actually made an example of this for me a while back, showing the difference between a Lieutenant, a corrupted senshi and Queen Beryl. As you can see, the corrupted senshi has a MUCH bigger energy aura than a regular lieutenant does, while the ruling head of the Negaverse has the largest. As far as concealing it goes, Charonite had to use the bracelets to hide the senshi's energy, so I'm led to assume that at least the less powerful ranks (+ corrupted senshi) do not have the ability at this time to conceal their energy. More poweful characters, like Charonite and Beryl, are capable of dampening their energy aura and/or concealing it entirely. As far as distance goes, I imagine the distance grows with power, so a nearby senshi may sense a lieutenant, while they could probably sense a corrupted senshi a few blocks away or even further for someone like Beryl or Charonite (if they wanted their presence known).

Gonna leave the senshi ones up to the senshi gals, but I imagine it works similar to them?

(Not like corrupted senshi, with their bracelet to "turn off their energy" but I was also wondering if the corrupted senshi emit that in like MASSES or something? I recall it was mentioned that they're like negaverse tanks? XDD)

UNO -- Can Senshi/Negas/Cavalier sense henshin'd characters when they are not henshin'd? AS IN -- Linarite cannot sense that Fallon is a senshi even if she is looking the civilian!Fallon right in the face. But would Fallon be able to sense that there was a powered-up Nega in the vicinity if she was NOT in her own fuku?

Shazari: I'm gonna go with no on this -- other admins feel free to disagree.

codalion: I second this answer!

rosemilk: Thirded.

DOS -- Senshi and Negas can sense energy. Can they tell the difference between a Sailor and a Super Sailor? Or a Lt. and a Captain? As in, do they register the difference in energy?

Shazari: Yes, unless the energy's being purposefully masked in some way. <3

TRES -- Do Cavaliers register as something different to their spidey senses? What about Parallels? What about guardian cats?

Shazari: Cavaliers register slightly differently, but only to other cavaliers -- much like Zodiacs would be able to register the familiar energy of their fellow Zodiacs, but other senshi would just see "another senshi." Same goes for the parallels -- who otherwise read with energy that seems to be exactly like the white moon senshi and the white earth cavaliers.

QUATRO -- Is dark/light energy based on whether you have a corrupted starseed or not? As in, a powered-up character could close their eyes and know if the other powered-up character they were looking at was good or bad?

Shazari: Yes, unless the energy's being purposefully masked in some way. <3

MORE QUESTIONS.

Are Great Crystals like starseeds in that anyone can reach into your chest and yank them out? Or are they more like, well, Great Crystals in that only specific people can get them out of someone? In "Your Princess is in Another Castle", Wiseman seems to call the Opal Crystal out of Chronos and put it in his own chest--could Chronos feasibly reach into his chest and grab it back, if she got close enough? (Not recommended, clearly, but.)

I feel like I should know this. Not, like, because of any involvement in the metaplot, but because of watching the first season which was the one with the Crystals, wasn't it? Sorry, former wording was sort of douchey.

codalion: Great Crystals have a particular bond to their rightful owners and, as a result, not just anyone can reach in and yank them out at any time: see the Cora dream solo But One Little Girl Got Away for how he stole Nehelenia's Crystal as well, i.e. by tricking her into going Princess. However, Wiseman isn't their rightful owner, is he?

Okay, question. If I want to make a cat quest, but someone already has a cat quest for the same breed or the breed is already a made character, can I still use it? Or does every cat have to have a unique breed?

[edit]
Also, is there an age limit for cats? Age range? |D; How young/old can they be?

rosemilk: Cats do not have to be a unique breed at all. We can double up on breeds. Quoting the age question as we've been asked before --

Quote:
Guardian cats also don't really have an 'age' -- but you can have one in the range from 'young' to 'old'.

The skirts for SHP appear to be very pencil-ish and tight; is this true?

Shazari: They look like it to me!

On the topic of guardian cats, are you permitted to have a crossbreed? Most of the ones so far are recognizable breeds...

Shazari: I can't see why not. <3

So if a senshi dresses up in a non-powered costume of themselves for Halloween, will that break the magical glamour and allow people to know who you are when you are actually powered up?

Cuter: Going on the assumption that you're talking about them as civilians running around and not senshi dressing up in a costume over their fuku - no, it would not break the glamour. The fun part about glamour is that you're unrecognizable. As a civilian, you may look "similar" to your senshi counterpart (as in canon, people recognized Usagi's hairstyle to be 'similar' to that of Sailor Moon, but nobody made any connections), but putting on a costume outfit that looks like your magical fuku won't reveal your senshi identity.

Though Astraea or any of the other Guardians, I am sure, wouldn't see the humor in dressing up like a senshi for Halloween.

Hello!

Couldn't find this question asked, and I had been wondering:

What stages do the Sailor Soldiers of the Black Moon Court go through? Is it Soldier->Super->Eternal->Possible 4th Stage like regular, or do they follow a different course?

Shazari: Soldier->Super->Eternal->Possible 4th Stage. <3

Also, is it possible for a soul to be exorcised out of a character?

Cuter: Anything is possible in the world of Sailor Moon! biggrin

Do all senshi have tiaras? I've noticed that the Senshi of Wealth does not sport one.

Natsube: They should. I tend to forget-- I also tend to forget to put stars on the cats too sometimes, oops. JUST PRETEND SHE HAS A TIARA.

LOL, Natsu.
Okay then, I shall pretend. xDD

HI, FRIENDS.

So. Questions.

1 - If a senshi/nega reveals their identity to someone of their same faction (or at least alignment), does that need GM approval? (Erm. Already revealed Taranis to Alexandros so WHOOPS. But for other people who might wonder!)

Shazari: Nope!

2 - If a senshi/nega reveals their identity to a civilian, does that need GM approval?

Shazari: This is a bit iffy. It's probably a good idea to ask us about this, but the answer's going to be pretty much the same across the board: keep in mind the 'is this likely to get someone killed that I don't want to get killed' rule. If you're outing your character's identity to a character that will likely always keep that secret (for example, if, say, Elzo outed himself to his brother Marlo), then it's probably going to be no problem. But if the person you out yourself to might tell someone else, or try to kill you, or otherwise do something that's, well, gonna cause a problem in the long run -- then the answer's likely going to be no. Basically, you want to avoid ever digging yourself a plothole that you can't permanently fill, otherwise you'll be left floundering when you're trying to figure out how to make the problem go away. <3

3 - If a senshi/nega reveals their identity to someone of the OPPOSITE faction, does that need GM approval?

Shazari: Second verse, same as the first. Well, third verse same as the second, actually. In this case DEFINITELY run it past us, as again the 'could someone get killed' rule applies, and even if that's not the case -- which is pretty shocking for a Negaverser and a senshi! -- we really want to make sure we understand why that is in advance, and if it would work. <3

4 - A senshi terrorizing a civilian (i.e. Taranis gives Hillworth bullies a sand bath) -- would that need GM approval?

Shazari: Not necessarily. However, this also falls within the guidelines which I wrote out in full on page 5 of this thread, partially quoted here:

Quote:
- your character or your story would be doing something that affects DC or a large chunk of the RP cast as a whole -- for example, if Larissa wanted to burn down the Crystal Academy dorms. Alternately, if Sailor Proxima wanted to share her senshi cellphone with Serandite, revealing the identities of several dozen senshi to a Negaverser. Which also leads into...

- your character or your story could seriously get someone killed (often your character). This is more likely to come up as a Negaverser issue, for example, if Linarite wanted to try and push an unconscious Nealite off a bridge to her plummeting death (even if she didn't succeed). Attacking the avatar of Queen Beryl would most likely get Linarite killed many times. However, it could come up as a senshi issue very easily too -- see my above example with Sailor Proxima. Nice going, Proxima.

Shazari: So if Taranis wants to sandblast some bullies, have at! But if he wants to do this so often that the news catches wind of it and we have another Sailor Nea on our hands, then he's going to have some VERY angry senshi knocking on his door, and if that's the case, then yes, please contact the staff. <3

5 - What about a senshi killing a civilian (either on purpose or by accident)? I assume this one needs GM approval, but just asking for the sake of perfect clarity.

Shazari: See above -- please let us know on this one, but generally you'll be able to guess the answer in advance based on the above guidelines. <3

6 - Would a Nega killing the family member of a senshi/civilian need GM approval?

Shazari: Again, much the same answer. If this is your everyday Negacasualty and both you and the player of the family member are fine with it, go ahead. If it seems like it might be kind of a big deal, or if it seems like it'd affect the player in such a way as to substantively alter their personality from what's on their accepted character profile, then we need the heads-up. <3

These are things that I contemplate while at work and thinking about potential plots.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 22, 2010 11:46 am

So! Question regarding glamor still... Does a senshi inherently know that the glamor exists and is effective (Like, does being henshin'd up give you an overwhelming feeling that no one knows who you are?)

Shazari: They instinctively know -- which is a good thing, because not all the senshi got extensive debriefings when they were awakened!

Because if not, even if Adira is told it exists, she's going to have (many) doubts about it, considering being a senshi could ruin her and her families social standings xD In other words, if the first question is a no, would it be alright for her to don a mask of some sort when out on patrol (just a civilian mask, put on via human methods- breakable and not magical at all)? It would probably only be for a short time until she actually runs into someone she knows, and she realizes that they actually don't recognize her at all.

EDIT: ALSO- does an awakening RP count as a battle? Even though the first portion of it is them in human form?

Shazari: Generally, if a senshi fights a battle using their senshi powers (and it's not a solo story), then yes, else, no.

Q: Will fraction leader souls, (as in, Serenity, Endymion, Venus, Neptune, and Nephrite), be player picked, or will they be staff run?

Shazari: I think you mean Uranus? Uranus is the vice-captain of the White Moon Senshi, not Neptune.

codalion: Err, as far as I know no metacharacter slots have ever been "player picked," as in, we never put it to popular vote whether Nessariah should play Black Lady and we never held a town hall debate on whether Nata should play Helios. If what you mean is "played by non-staff," then see below. However, I'm pretty sure this was addressed a few pages back in this selfsame thread and involved something about us having neither the time nor the inclination to play with our own sockpuppets all the time.

rosemilk: I know you wanted multiple replies on each, but I'd be gilding the lily here. No character slot will ever be 'player picked', I know I've personally talked at length about why I am against playervote slots. See below for more talk regarding that.

Q:Out of the souls I mentioned will any be owned by staff, if so, which ones?

codalion: We don't make a policy of disclosing our plot decisions ahead of time for a number of reasons, and certainly not before we actually decide them -- which, I'm afraid to say, we haven't even started thinking about who's going to play most of those characters. However, we can answer a lot of questions in Q&A, but spoilers are out of the running. You can also attempt to break into our secret hideout for this information, but you may find it disturbingly missing (though you can steal our Clue DVD if you like).

Shazari: You asked for multiple answers, so I'll see what I can add here (this answer combines both your first and second questions). It's interesting you asked specifically about the faction heads, since those are the characters which are most likely to need to be powerplayed by someone sitting on this side of the GM screen, and therefore least likely to reflect our broader goal of not playing a ton of characters ourselves. I mentioned below that there are a lot of factors involved in decisions about characters and who plays them. There are. One of the most pivotal factors is what role the character needs to play in the plot. Sometimes the character in question is one whose plot role is so starkly defined that you can't just hand this character off and say, "go, play what makes you happy!" If we need Luna to be a certain way, then we need her to be a certain way -- sometimes those needs are so restrictive that giving a character to a player and then effectively tying their hands with respect to that character and telling them what to do and when do to it simply isn't feasible or remotely fair to that player. By the nature of their roles, that makes leadership-oriented characters the most likely to need GM intervention, so we cannot promise that it's possible to give out all such characters to non-GMs, if that's not in the best interests of the metaplot.

That said, we've stated previously in this thread our intentions WRT some of the shop's most major characters, so that's as much spoiling as I'll do for today, is to refer you to any specifics we've talked about in the past. <3

Cuter: As the need for multiple replies arises, I am here to answer the call! Both of the ladies above me are absolutely correct in their statements. We want the shop and its plots to run as smoothly as possible, so a lot of the time the faction heads will be run by GMs to keep things organized/in order/headed for the direction we're trying to lead the faction into. There are exceptions to that statement already in play; I received the offer to play Beryl months before I received the offer to come on staff and I know Mel does a wonderful job of leading up the Zodiacs with Chronos and she is not on staff. Have no fear - the shop is still young, we're still getting into many of the shop's plots and multiple opportunities for meta characters are still on the horizon.

tl;dr - the gals above me are right on the mark!

Also, to save you time with the Clue DVD: MR. BODDY DIES. ROSEBUD IS THE SLED. SOYLENT GREEN IS MADE OF PEOPLE. SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE. RED RUM IS MURDER BACKWARDS.

Q: How many canon souls/characters may one player have?

Shazari: "Canon souls" is a bit misleading, so I can't speak to that in my answer -- that's not how we base our intentions when giving out characters. There were a lot of characters in canon: it would pretty much suck if someone became ineligible for Serenity because, a year before that, they'd won Oranjiya in a contest and played him. (Oranjiya's from my beloved SuperS movie, for those of you not familiar.) You know? We look at a lot of different things when giving out metacharacters, and certainly one of the things we look at is trying to distribute things in a fair way, but there are quite a few factors we take into account. In the end, the vague rule is "no more than 1 of the lunar court senshi/Endymion." There are different circumstances surrounding what our plot needs are for a lot of the canon characters, so the factors involved in those decisions vary based not only on questions of player worthiness or fairness but also genuine plot needs, which for some characters are pretty specific.

codalion: Pretty much what Shaz just said! Other GMs are welcome to give their second, third, and fourth opinions, but a Oranjiya is not a Serenity is not a Chibimoon is not a Helios. I do hope you're not confusing 'canon character' with 'metaplot character.'

rosemilk: You are not allowed more than one of the Lunar court or Endymion. I kind of feel there's a slight undercurrent here of 'how many of the Lunars are the staff going to take?'. I want you to know that I'm not lambasting you for that question! The staff gravitate towards metaplot characters for a reason (the reason being that metaplot needs to be guided by staff; Serenity and Endymion will not be played by staff.

Q: If we want to take a character 'out of play' during a RL trip, can we just say they are out of Destiny City for summer or something?

Shazari: Certainly! For example, Cora and her family do go to Rehoboth Beach every summer, so she will be out of play for at least a week -- although that's not for OOC reasons or anything, the principle still stands. <3

Q: What are design requirements in a fuku and a uniform? Some have been getting really ornate so I was wondering how that would work as the costumes were supposed to get more ornate as they powered up?

Shazari: That's a very interesting question -- forgive me for answering these questions first, as they're rather cleaner answers than the ones above. My original understanding was that the first stage fuku design was meant to be the simplest and the most strictly adherent to the standard BSSM fuku design, so that's what I designed towards -- with the expectation that later-stage designs would be more complex and divergent. However, word on the street later reached me that people might think I was slacking off, which has really never been my intent -- so I've adjusted my design process to front-load some of the complexity and bling, rather than expand it during the later stages. (Earlier senshi I've done will still become more complex, not to worry, my peeps!) For me, the parallels are a noted exception to this: although their lace details and gold beading are both tiny (which tends to automatically read as complex!), their uniforms are all very standardized -- girls vary in terms of color, shoes, gloves (just like in canon), as well as the shape of their little sigil gems (Circle, Heart, Jar, Flame) and the pattern/placement of their lace, boys similarly have only very minor variations.

When I design a character fuku, I try to maintain the following standard elements:
1) White bodice (parallels aside).
2) Sailor collar (or something very close to it).
3) White gloves -- I'm pretty flexible on armwear, but I think Spica's the only senshi I've done with no armwear whatsoever. Generally I try to do white gloves.
4) Headgear: typically a tiara.
5) Butt sash/buttbow. Something in this ballpark.

I can't speak for Natsube, but those are generally my design intentions/parameters.

PS: If I could get multiple GM answers to the first three questions that would be awesome.
