Its not my fault you’re such a moron

Derrin,
Major Grouch

Just leave me alone

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wonder man? Clara must have confused him for someone else, still his heart leapt at her words. Disengaging from the hug, Derrin offered his arm to her as he expected was supposed to be done (He really has no knowledge of these things) he tilted his head towards her and.... wait.... was Derrin actually smiling?!

"Here I have a bit of money, why don't I take you shopping? You can replace anything those oafs took from you on me, and please, don't worry about the cost. Treating a woman of your caliber is enough reward for me."

Hoping she'd take his arm Derrin began walking through the streets, a few people who had heard the thunders looked sideways at Derrin who instinctively held Clara a little closer while glaring at anyone who’s eyes lingered to long.

Oh look there was Derrin's anger, he just was directing it at different sources, I.E anyone who might hurt Clara in some way.

The mage could tell she'd been through a hardship, and dammned if he'd let anyone else ever hurt her again. He loved her, strange to think about someone you just met but that didn’t change how he felt.

Clara took her arm around his. She saw a smile on his face. She smiled back

"Here I have a bit of money, why don't I take you shopping? You can replace anything those oafs took from you on me, and please, don't worry about the cost. Treating a woman of your caliber is enough reward for me." Her eyes widened. Derrin was going to pay for the stuff. That made her smile even more. She really did want to get Helen, Rajin, and Tibarn a gift. Though before she got hit with the arrow she really want to make sure she had a gift for Rajin.

Clara and Derrin had walked a bit and something caught her eye. She stopped walking and since her arm was around Derrin's, he was going to stop too.

"Oh look Derrin." She said, "Lets go in here I think there might be something in her that Miss Helen will like." She pulled on his arm and she went into the store.

She was smiling at him now! He almost turned to mush at that, hard to think that just a few minutes earlier Derrin would have growled at anyone looking as lovey-dovey like the way he was looking at Clara right now.

Then something crossed his mind, "What if that gift was for another man!" Derrin's heart suddenly seemed to drop to his feet, but then she smiled again and a shaky smile met hers. (Two smiles now?! If Jaren found out he'd drop dead of a heart attack) She was so beautiful.... if there was someone else he'd just take a backseat, she had to be happy. That was all he cared about now of course he didn’t want to get stuck as just friends, that would only frustrate him… he’d ask her later if there was anyone that she had but for now he just wanted to enjoy this bliss. And as she pointed at a store he tried to remember how much he had on him.

Not much, Derrin basically had what was left of his and Jaren's money on him which only amounted to enough to get her the gifts she wanted, and something nice for her. But he could go without eating for a bit, he'd do a bit of side work. A lot of jobs could be found for a mage and despite the fact that it was degrading of his abilities and his craft, he would have to make do.

Besides it wasn't like Jaren was around to spend all their money in some stupid manner, of course Derrin never even thought that this way of spending might be classified as stupid.

Letting himself be led into the store Derrin looked around, it appeared to be your standard jewelry store, trinkets of all kinds decorated the shelves and walls with a special glass covered case for the really expensive stuff.

((Is not double post..... shut up your crazy and Isadora.... when I see you in the blast we are going to have a nice chat about scarring people irreversibly))

Just as Joshua felt a pair of arms wrap around him and screw up his jump he knew it was game over, once again finding himself being rolled over by someone twice his mass he wasn’t very surprised when he felt himself falling landing with a soft thump in a wagon. Joshua was surprised though when he found himself on a bed of roses.

"Who the ********, carts roses like this?!" He questioned, Joshua wasn’t one to cuss but he figured swearing wouldn't matter at this point... with all he'd been through he deserved it.

Oh crap, while distracted by the fact that they had just fallen into a bed of roses which was perhaps one of the most unlikely things someone would be carting around " Seriously WHY?" Rajin quickly mounted him, twining his leg around Joshua's to prevent the swordmaster from kicking.

"R-Rajin! Snap out of it!" Joshua had one option left, reaching up he grabbed the tigers neck and pulled himself up with all his might, it didn't really work out. In fact now it looked like he was hugging the man, there was no option left. Hearing that a cat's ears were sensitive Joshua began rubbing them softly, he had a plan now... alls he needed was an opening.

If that meant rubbing a kitty's ears as opposed to what Rajin was planning, then he'd rub a kitty's ears.

Clara had gone into the store and saw some things that she thinks that Helen might like. She saw a little charm with a building on it. Maybe she would like the little charm.

"Hey Derrin," She said pointing to the charm. "I want to get this for Miss Helen. It's not really expensive. I think she would like it because she is the owner of the Duke's Head." She looked at Derrin and saw that his smile was forced. "Is something the matter?" She asked. She was a little worried that she was doing something wrong.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It's nice," Derrin said looking at the charm, “But I think it would look better on you.” Well, Miss Helen didn’t sound like a man’s name so he was clear on that front. But he seemed to have worried her somehow and that startled him as much as the time in Estarcia when his magic failed him.

"No everything’s fine." He answered back as he paid for the small charm. While he was handed back the charm something else caught his eye; in the glass case was a beautiful necklace. It seemed to be made out of gold and had a small sword on the end with a diamond set in its tiny hilt, shining prettily in the light it captivated Derrin with its beauty much like Clara had.

"Diamonds! Derrin! Every girl loves diamonds! This is why we should build a diamond mine! It’s genius!"

If he remembered Jaren had once told him that, and Derrin, who had never bothered to get this close to anyone before decided to take his advice, well not the second half. As strange as it sounded for anyone to take advice from that fool he really had nothing else to go on and he wanted her to feel the same way about him as he did for her.
".... How much is that?" He asked pointing at the necklace, and when the store owner quoted the price he found it just within his range.

"I'll take it." He said simply as he dropped enough gold on the counter and was handed the necklace. Once Clara and the mage had left the store and walked a little bit in some random direction he stopped suddenly and showed her what else he’d bought (As if she hadn’t seen him buy it), "I think you'd look really nice if you wore this." He said while looking away to hide the fact of how red he was. "I won't take no for an answer." With one hand he pressed the charm for Helen into her palm, and then he looked back before leaning down slightly to her eye level.

Reaching both hands around her neck holding an end of the simple gold chain in each, he pushed aside her ponytail and he clasped the necklace around her neck, letting the ponytail fall back onto her neck over top of his hands, his face lingered close to her's as he was stunned for a moment, then without thinking about it the grouchy mage pulled her in close for a kiss. His heart started racing, and seemed to stop at the same time as he leaned towards her.

So it was nothing he said. Well Clara shrugged it off and let Derrin go pay for the charm. It looked like he was getting something else. Maybe something for her? She would find out.

After the had left the store and they went quite a distance, Derrin stopped. What was he doing.

"I think you'd look really nice if you wore this." He turned away. Clara was confused as to why he would turn away. "I won't take no for an answer." He put the charm for Helen in one of her hands, and then he look back at her, leaning down to where he was at her eye level. He had put something around her neck. She saw it was a charm in the shape of a sword. She was surprised that he would buy something like this for her. She was even more surprised when he came in for a kiss. Her heart started to race. She was unsure of what to do and before she could think of anything, Derrin was kissing her. She was blushing like crazy. She decided that since he was already kissing her she might as well enjoy it.

Once they pulled apart, Clara was still blushing like crazy. "Oh my gosh." She said, "I'm....I'm...oh my...I'm kinda excited." Then her stomach growled. "And I guess I'm hungry too." She laughed a little. "Do you mind going to the Duke's Head?"

Melethia saw the man apologize for what he was doing, after he got up from being rolled over by the barrels. He wasn't doing a good job of keeping eye contact with her. She got quite bored with him. She then saw Roy running like crazy. She blinked for a bit then shoved the man out of her way and ran after Roy.

As she ran she heard Roy's loud no yell. Instincts told her Roy was in trouble, so she ran as fast as she could following Roy's scent. She had made it to the Hostess Club where Roy was standing there looking shocked. What was he so shocked about? She turned her head to where Roy was looking at. She saw Ganon had proposed to a woman. That woman looked familiar. Wait wasn't she Roy's mother. It all came together. That's why Roy yelled so loudly.

"Um, Roy," She said trying to get his attention, "Roy?" She waved a hand in front of his face. "Roy, can you hear me?"

As he came upon the scene, his draw dropped quite literally to the ground. Ninian was accepting a proposal to some guy, even though she was Roy's Mom and had a husband. With the same shocked expression that Roy had. "Ro-Roy," He asked in a weirded out voice. "What is going on?"

Rei only stared, his eyes getting gradually wider, as Nils had shushed him. If he couldn't think of an actual reply, it had to have been nothing more than spur of the moment pants-controlling-the-mind. And that's just bad, especially for a person who looks like they're maybe 13, but is really over a millennium old.

Or course, the bard going in to kiss him again was absolutely baffling. Rei, in response, only gasped (as well as he could) and shoved Nils away once more. "Jeez, Nils, if your boyfriend wasn't meeting your standards, you could have just said so." Rei sneered, shooting him a dirty glare as his hands turned into clenched fists. "I mean, look where you work. Not like you'd have any trouble replacing him..."

Rei took a small breath, keeping his hands still in fists. If he got any closer, Rei would most likely turn to violence. Nothing too drastic, just a punch, but still. "And I mean, I know I'm smart, and attractive, but I'm not that amazing, Nils. You can do so much better."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As they kissed Derin's head felt like it exploded, reassembled, and then floated back down to earth as if it was still the most natural thing in the world.

Once they broke though it was a different matter, "She's excited? She enjoyed it?" doubts and other thoughts ran through the usual thunderstorm of a mind that was Derrin. "I'd like that; we can... get to know each other better."

"What are you doing Derrin? Hi there! Just me your inner voice... here to remind you that you're dying! Oh what? You actually forgot for a blissful minute? Well guess what I'm baaaack, and here to give you a nice big helping of something I like to call reality, how did you get a girl like that in the first place huh? A guy with anger problems like you? What a joke! Look at her! She's unaware of how you really are. Isn't that just the cutest thing you ever saw! Even if it would have worked out... don't forget the doctors told you that you probably wouldn't see the next year huh? Oh hey guess what! You’re about to cough up blood! Better not let her see!"

And cough up blood is what Derrin did. Turning his face away as he pulled out a handkerchief and coughed into it heavily, quickly stuffing it back into his pocket so Clara wouldn't see. He didn't need to look at it to know what was there, thick, black, blood.

Once he was sure he wouldn't cough up a lung, the mage turned back to the younger myrmidon and said, "You'll have to lead, I'm not sure where the Duke's Head is." Once again though Derrin offered his arm. Damn the truth, damn his inner voice, damn the whole world. He was going to be selfish; he wouldn't tell her that he was dying. No woman would want to love a man who probably wouldn't live long enough to make her happy.

While she was waiting for her answer from Derrin, he turned around a coughed quite a bit. Was his sick? If he was, why would he be out here in the cold? Then a faint scent hit her nose. Was it blood? Why would she smell blood? Clara was very confused at this point. When Derrin turned back around she tried to hide the fact that she was confused.

"You'll have to lead, I'm not sure where the Duke's Head is." He told her.

"I know where it is." She said as she took his arm. As she walked she wondered what was with that coughing. "Derrin," She asked, "Are you ok? You were coughing quite a lot back there."

It looked like he hadn't done enough to cover it, she had noticed the coughing.

"No it’s probably just a cold, I get them when the seasons are about to change sometimes."

"Liar"

"So, where are you from?" He asked to change the subject, anything to steer her away from his coughing, which was something he didn't want to have to explain just yet. He would tell her in time, just... not right now.

As for the Duke's Head that sounded like a pub, Derrin wasn't a big fan of pubs and it wasn't only for the fact that anytime he went to one Jaren always caused a fight somehow and got them both a night in jail. He didn't like crowds or loud places, so why did a sweet girl like Clara want to go there? He was willing to take her almost anywhere! The moon probably if she asked it, right now his pocket was very light though and paying for a cheap lunch was most likely all he could manage, so he didn’t bother arguing about going to the Duke's Head.

Maybe it would be a nice change of pace? Better then spending another night modifying a tome for his personal style of fighting, what a turn around! Last night he had done exactly that, and today he was walking around with the most amazing woman in the world.

If he ever found out about Psyche... he'd probably kiss her.

Down the streets of Eyris, Abel walked cautiously. Today was a special day, and he wanted to get something special, for Alihi. He was no good at the romance thing. He could only hope that he had enough coin on him to buy something nice for her. After all, that's what people did on this day, right? They bought something for the one they loved? Abel didn't really understand, but if he didn't get Alihi anything, it might hurt her feelings.

But as the boy got further into the city, he could see people glaring at him. ...They still harbored ill feelings toward him. He couldn't blame them. If one of his loved ones had been killed by some psycho, he would hate the person forever, until justice was served. In fact, he knew all too well what that was like. He would have to come to grips that nobody wanted him around here, anymore.

"Hey! You!" A voice rang out suddenly. Abel looked over and saw that several men were coming over to him. The women followed closely behind, wearing vengeful expressions of their own. "You've got some nerve coming around here, kid! Remember last time?!" Abel thought back to the harvest festival, when he was nearly beat up and had to run all the way to the castle, for the party. The citizens were trying to pummel him. Things were getting a little too uncomfortable now, too. Abel took a step back, as the mob came closer. "We'll make sure you learn your lesson, brat!"

Abel gulped once, knowing that this would probably not end well.

Derrin said it was a cold. Clara thought that was weird seeing as who she really thought she smelled blood. Then Derrin asked where she was from, so she shrugged off her concern.

"I'm from Leara," She answered, "It's in the far north. It's quite cold. I am glad I'm some place that is warmer. I have Miss Helen to thank for letting me stay at the Duke's head. When I first came here, none of the other places had an open room. The Duke's head was the only place that was open. Back then it wasn't as in as great of shape as it is now. The food is also great there. Oh, look, there is it." Clara ran to the Duke's head, but since her arm was still around Derrin's, she was dragging him along with her. She opened the door.

"Miss Helen, I'm back!" She yelled with excitement, "and I come with a gift!"
