Sal

She had to admit that Vas' reaction to her advances had surprised her greatly. The 'arm candy' remark had hurt but she dismissed it quickly, allowing herself to pulled towards the stairs. When he stopped at the bottom and took off his mask, she did a double take but it was not for the reasons that he was thinking if he had noticed.

Her back found the wall as she leaned back, watching him. "That's one hell of a pair of eyes you got there, Vas," she said, keeping eye contact, "Are you okay though?" Of course, she had noticed the scarring but what if he did not want to talk about it? Sal shook herself and walked up a few steps. "Do you have any meds for it?" Her tone was actually that of a concerned person. Nami was contagious.

Vassili smiled at her gratefully. Most people recoiled in fear. His eyes were probably the most frightening aspect. The scarring coming a close second.

"I told your sister. She seemed skeptical." He started up the stairs.

"Come on." He motioned for her to follow him up.

"Back in the Cold War the USSR bluffed against the USA. Saying they had made as many nukes as the USA. Well they didn't. You know how in the movies they create super soldiers. Well Let's just say The Russians did it and not all of them stood up perfectly to what they were supposed to do. Survive a nuclear holocaust. Chernobyl was not a accident. It was deliberate to test these creations." Vassili looked down, having only walked up three steps.

"That's all I'll say about that. To protect you." He chuckled darkly.

"And yes I have medicine. Herbs and what not. Experimental drugs, illegal drugs. Stuff your sister won't know about, but keeps the cancer from spreading to my organs." Vassili always altered his stories. To keep everyone off the same page. He continued up the stairs, rolling back the right sleeve to access the implanted screen.

Sal

"Who said that I needed your protection?" she said, making a point of passing him on the stairs so that she was on the landing, waiting. His story was fantastical, to say the least. Obviously, he was one of the "super soldiers". Sal rolled her eyes as though she was becoming bored.

"Cancer," she whispered quizzically and spotted the screen revealed by his rolled up sleeve. "What type of cancer? Do you need any help with the medication? It sounds like a lot." Her body shook for a second with aniticipation. She wanted to know more about the party.

Vassili opened the door and stepped past her.

"Oh no I wouldn't be protecting you. I would be dead by that time." His chuckle was darker and he headed to the bar where his wireless turntables sat. He turned the system on with a touch to the imbedded LCD and then turned the music low so he wouldn't have to shout at her.

"It is a very aggressive mutated form of skin cancer. Works sorta like a STAFF infection, but slower, more painful and isn't contagious. I was given three days to live. That was nearly forty years ago." He knew his face looked no older than twenty. He didn't care at the moment. No one would believe anyone he told this stuff to. They sounded like conspiracy theorists.

"Any who, we have a ten thousand watt system in place. Wirelessly synced to a mainframe in Naples. The bar is set up to serve soda, water, exotic juice. Your sister doesn't want alcohol yet. Oh well." He took up the flask under the bar and took a swig.

"The real booth is over there and I will be here pulling double duty. For now." Vassili began the turn cycle on the electronic tables. Then began scratching out something easy.

"I'll be wearing my mask with the black lenses in. I think there are black lights along with strobes and other things." He turned to her now.

"So you in or out. I don't mean to refer to you as a piece of meat. You are quiet attractive and will pull people in easily. Like I said. A good DJ needs a girl moving to the beat." He was going to ask Naomi. They were nearly the same build. Or near enough. Sal was just not shy about it.

((SLEEPY TIME! See you mañana.))

Sal

She liked this banter that they had going. Sal entered the hall as Vas dealt with the music levels and told her about his cancer. Again, he presented something that should have sparked a million questions in her to say out loud. Instead though, she took the information as it came. Everybody had a past and it did not feel right to dig into his own any deeper. She nodded and allowed the subject change.

"Nami doesn't drink anymore," she answered him, stealing the flask from his hands, "However, I still do." Sal glanced over at the music booth. He must have some sort of electronic help. After knowing him for such a few minutes, she would not put it passed him. Her head bobbed a little to his scratching but her face pretended to be a mask of hurt and sorrow at his decision to wear his own mask with black lenses. "Aw and hide those beauties from the girls? What a tease you are."

The flask found her lips and she threw her head back for a brief moment before resting the flask down. It was the burn that she was addicted to more than anything else. Sal eyed Vas and slipped off the stool to stand by him behind the bar. "What a silly question. Of course, I'm in. I came here to work, didn't I? Hmm," she paused, "a piece of meat. Well, I would like to think that I'm more...delectable than a piece of meat, don't you?"

Her brown eyes flashed at him. "So basically, you need a dancer? That one person to get the crowd moving especially if we end up with a bunch of shy ones? Meh, I can do that." She had ignored responding to the remark on her beauty. Compliments like that were just the facts to her. Now, the woman leaned against the counter, not exactly paying attention to the proximity between herself and the man, and closed her eyes, tapping one of her boots against the floor cupboards to the beat. "When does the party start? I have to plan."

((Okay, have a good sleep!))

Vassili eyed the girl. He was no stranger to a flirt. She wasn't she just did. It was a little intoxicating. He took his flask back.

"Delectable. Yeah that sounds better. Lived in forest for ten years. You tend to forget things." He took another swig of the flask and set it on the counter.

"I don't know. Naomi didn't say. I would think just after lunch. That's when I would start." He looked at the LCD on his wrist. It was just after ten. How did time move so quickly.

"What planning? What to wear, how provocatively to dance? What substances to abuse?" He chuckled as he pulled a cigarette case out. There wasn't cigarettes in it, just pills. He swallowed one and washed it back with water. No ever questioned what it was. He never told.

"Music. What music do you want? I have access to every piece on the planet. Comes with owning a piece of every record label known to man." He choose two new pieces. Bach and Jay-Z. He began to mix and then added a third and fourth. The digital layout of the turntables changing to accommodate the now six different mixing songs.

"And some that most don't know about." The last song was an independent piece. Pulled from an artist in the city. Pulled without him knowing. Well when you just put your computer out there it was easy for Vassili to pull anything.

Sal

A small smile tugged at her lips but Sal kept her face as neutral as possible, eyes still closed. His voice was something to listen to without the interference of the mask. Her left eye opened to watch him, the smile getting its fifteen seconds of fame.

"What were you doing in the forest for so long?" She took another sip at his flask. Her head was not even buzzing as yet. Sal nodded in agreement to the proposed time for the party. "I'll tell Naomi soon and as for what I'm planning," she pushed herself off the counter and drew even closer to Vas, tugging slightly on his outermost jacket, "you will find that out later."

The cigarette pan had caught her interest until he opened it to reveal tablets. She just figured that it was his meds. Pulling back now and releasing his clothes, Sal concentrated on his last question. Alternative rock was her drug but it was not exactly dancing music. When she finally looked up at him, her face was solemn with not even a twinkle of flirt to display. "The best type of dancing music that I can suggest would be the oldies but that is only because I grew up with that. Techno is another one but personally, I hate it. What were you planning on playing?"

Her hands went straight to the collar of her shirt, her eyes still on him - staring. "If you have so much musical access, why does it matter what I want to be played?" His mixing skills were ridiculous and even with the classical and R&B compilation, her hips swayed a bit but nothing noticeable.

"Why shouldn't I ask the first person who'll be dancing. Oldies." Vassili swiped his finger across the board and the new mis shuffled up even as the old one began to fade. He choose two songs. A classic nineteen fifties song. And then the other pulled in a punk classic, Blink 182's Little Things.

"Something like that?" He looked at her with a smile on his face reading her dislike of techno as evident as her sisters.

Sal

Her feet were already pushing her off the floor. She returned Vas' smile, saying, "I love this song!" Sal forgot herself and pulled the man by the hand to dance with her, singing along to the lyrics. "Na, na, na, na, na." She felt like a child again, jumping from foot to foot and bumping Vas ever so often. "I guess that makes sense. I just thought that you would have a better idea than I but gosh, Blink 182 is just awesome. I want this, please. The different types of music patterns compliment each other well. Please?"

Her face flashed a puppy dog look at him as she continued to play around to the song, acting and dancing simultaneously. For the slow parts, her hands pretended to play the piano or to drum. Eventually, she found herself singing the song to Vas but it was all in good fun with a wiggle here and there.

Vassili went along with the exuberant girl. Finally when she just sung along he made his way back to the board, worked it for a second as he made a new mix using another Blink song and now adding in another alt rock. He choose quickly and found it came out perfect. Always and American Idiot. This would require more work though. He made the first Blink mix a ring tone and other things then using his trickery sent all the files to her cell over the active bluetooth.

"Check your phone for that last song. I think I named it aptly." He took another swing from the flask and began adding his own creations to the playing mix making it more complex and better. Maybe to alt rock wasn't the best, but it was easy.

Sal

Sal had continued dancing depspite the change in songs. How did he know that she liked Alternative Rock as well? She shrugged it off and pulled out her phone to check it like he had asked. Her fingers found the song easily and made it her ringtone. Sal smiled at him and shouted over the music, "Hey, thanks for that." She glanced at her watch and shifted. "Anyway, I should get back downstairs to tell Naomi what we're doing. I'll be right back." She stuck out her tongue at him in a most childish but cute manner before heading for the door, still humming along to the tunes.

((I apologize about this late response. How are you?))

Vassili watched the exuberant girl dance along and the let her leave. Odd one that one is. No matter, as long as I can please someone tonight I will be satisfied. He had always found that the problem. Just before his voluntary hermitage he had been on a mission. This is what brought him into the world of mixing. He had infiltrated the mansion by neutralizing the real one and then wining it, and it had succeeded. Mostly. Most of the people loved him, but there was a few angry ones, saying he played to much of this and that and the other. He was sure tonight would go the same way. With a flick the whole set-up died and he looked to the ceiling. There were lights and now he had to finish. He grabbed a ladder, soldering gun and some wire and set to work.

((I'm good. I think I'm gonna make another person. Still searching for a job and now enrolled at Kaplan.))

Sal

Naomi was at the sink with an overload of dirty dishes when she found her. Still moving to the traces of the songs left in her head, Sal bounced over to her sister and tapped her shoulder.

"Hey Nami, I was just upstairs with Vas. We have sorted out the music for tonight but I'm still wondering about the starting time. He had suggested a little after lunch. Is that okay?"

She looked up at the other woman and found that it was a genuine display of shyness and not like the flirtacious crap that she had just played out on Vas. Looking up at the ceiling, she wondered what he was up to. The ridiculously good hearing skills that Nami and she shared told her that something had just been dragged across the floor.

Naomi

The manager finished the plate that she was working on and faced her sister. Naomi had heard the scraping as well but after just a day of Vas, it seemed almost normal. Facing Sal, she leaned against the counter.

"What type of music is it? Is it the kind that you listen to?" She knew Sal well enough that she could charm any man to go her way, even the enigmatic ones. "If it is, fine, we'll play it. As for time, the flyer was supposed to say an all-day party but if he wants to start it after lunch, I have no problem with that as well. And Sal," she said, drawing closer to her younger sister, "be careful. He has a darker past than both of us could imagine. Don't hurt him like the others."

With that, Naomi patted the girl's shoulder and returned to the washing. Word of the weekly party had gotten around quickly. A lot of people were appearing but not ordering, just waiting for the party to start. Noting this, Naomi added, "Also, if he wants to start sooner than that, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks."

((If you are, send it to me please for approval unless Cuppy comes back by then. Anyway, what are you planning to do at Kaplan? Good luck with the job hunting, by the way.))

Vassili was precariously placed at the top of a ten foot ladder, boldly standing on the top step that warned not to. He was confident that any fall from this height wouldn't even leave a scratch. He then pulled himself up on the support beam and began laying the wires. After a few minutes they were draped across the beams and already dangling down to his booth. Being lazy for a second he just dropped to the left of the equipment. The thud was loud and he was off kilter for just a moment.
