In the hull, four voices cry out. There's a couple of thuds and some bad language. It doesn't sound like anyone's hurt, though. Just disgruntled. Iri's wings snap back and she falls back on her a**, but she doesn't seem perturbed. At first, it's just a surprised screech, as Iri was preoccupied with monitoring Lina's progress more than she was preparing for a sudden increase in speed. Then, she's laughing as she braces herself with her hands, feet, and rump on the deck. The Radiance is built and designed to be lightweight. The main construction is of lightweight but durable bamboo planks and poles. The wings are nothing but line of crystal and wire and sturdy canvas. The kind of propulsion Lina comes up with is enough for a suddenly punch of power. The Gales downstairs are still picking themselve up. Iri has allowed herself to fall onto her back now, her knee-length ponytail fluttering in the wind and fines feathers flying away from her wings.

"That was awesome! Ahahahaha!"

Lina chuckled a bit as she noticed everyone's reactions. Her giggles returned for Iri's exclamation. "Hmm, best not to use that method unless we're aiming for a sprint over a run. Think that fits the Rai being flashy but short that drunkard sensei said though?" she asked the fury, grinning.

She had opened the tail again and sending out the smallest Rai orbs she could make from whatever line was inactive for the polarization at the moment. The dragon girl was glancing back and forth at the wings, before looking back at the controls that showed the lines. "Hmm, for a Rai user or a fire user seeing temperatures for the Lines would be a good idea yeah?"

Iri had crawled her way over to Lina's position. Now she pops up next to her to look at the control panel.

"That's the kind of feedback I wanted. This vessel was designed by me and constructed by my clan. What you have to understand, is that my clan has isolated itself for hundreds of years. It's how the clan leaders have kept control of us. And it's why I left. Means that the clan has limited resources, especially where technology is concerned. I have no knowledge of gauges and electrical equipment. I only know a little bit about construction. What you see here is the best I could come up with. If I could have more heat resistant materials, Rai and Ho would be better suited to this vessel. And it would definitely be nice to know if energy or some other source of heat is overheating the wings and rudder. Same thing with the extra lines that trail from the ship. Those are used for moving obstacles, moving cargo, even armed combat and performing the occasional jutsu on a gigantic scale. It would be nice to know how to monitor these things."

"Hmm, ah so that's what those lines were for" Lina said, now taking in how she had managed without them into her assessment.
"A Rai user probably would want a few more lines in the back dedicated to higher electrical current, maybe even just a single lightning rod? Hmm... no that'd be a horrible idea for a storm...." Lina kept mumbling for a while. Her ideas starting to sound strangely bizarre as she kept the wings moving back in the pattern she had used to imitate a dragon's gliding.

The goggles Lina was wearing were showing plenty of colorful little lights through their tint that likely would catch the fury's attention at least to wonder how Lina could be seeing anything, But also give the fury the little piece of information to know the dragon-girl was cheating so to speak on already knowing the temperature of each of the lines somehow...

Iri's expressions turns sheepish at the mention of a lightning rod. "Ahh, considering this one is nothing but bamboo, I think a lightning rod would be a bad idea. And..."

In a fashion similar but not quite as intrusive to the way Lenore examined Lina, Iri examines the dragon's goggles. She moves to stand in front of the control panel and stares at the lenses. Violet eyes widen in curiousity.

"Hey... That's how you're so careful about not burning anything up. Electronics fascinate me. This some sort of miniature computer on your face?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 7:11 pm

"Yeah, not a good idea unless you expected Rai users to be a majority anyway." She said with a sheepish look of her own.

Lina blink blinked a few times and the lights on the goggles vanished. "Yeah, sort-of... probably shouldn't be using them, but I've never had good luck with test flights or first flights" Lina tugged on the parachute straps once or twice.

Lina glanced left then right then giggled a bit and whispered to Iri. "Half of the time I don't know a thing about whatever complicated electronics I'm looking at till I look at them"

Iri snickers at Lina's comment. Good to know Iri isn't totally clueless compared to the dragon girl. If there's one thing Iri hates, it's a feeling of being of inferior intelligence. She doesn't know why, but feeling ignorant or stupid irks her.

"At least you have more of a knack for figuring these things out. So, why shouldn't you be using the goggles? I would think it's best to use whatever tools you have at hand."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 7:50 pm

"Uhhm, because in theory whoever made them hasn't yet?" she shrugged. "Though aside from the parasites and other's who apparently time traveled I haven't seen any signs of the ones who'd care what I do with what I have... Still I should follow their rules" she shrugged. "Aside from unusual circumstances" she said with a laugh.

"As for my knack, it's not so much a knack as having it beaten into my head so many different ways that eventually you can just choose one way it could work and assume you're right.... I think in terms of training time I'd have about 224 'different' collage level diploma's under my belt from everything I've had to re-learn over the years and differences." Lina shrugged before quickly adding some power to polarize the right wing while attempting to use her emotional suppression technique to cool off the control lines. Iri would feel a chill coming from the dragon girl, but the dragon girl didn't know how much it would effect the ship.

"Ohh..."

Iri looks down at the control panel as she leans against the box a little. She isn't actually studying it. She's just using it as a point for her eyes to focus as she thinks.

"I thought my existance was confusing. Didn't even know what I was, and now that I know, and have accepted it, my body doesn't really know what to do. Kind of like it's trying to find a halfway point between a solid mortal thing and an ethereal eternal being."

The Fury shakes her. She's ranting. Her own inner conflicts are catching up to her again, but she doesn't want to think about that right now. Not when she's not even sure what to think of it.

"So, there are people who regulate use of future items in past places? That's interesting. I guess I can see how it would be dangerous. And all of the knowledge you've gained. I would think I wouldn't want to live so long, that eventually, I would want to let myself be laid to rest. Then again, it's hard to pass up all of that knowledge I could have attained had I lived longer. Guess a short life and a centuries long life are both double-edged swords." Iri quirks her head again, noticing the temperature change. It's cold up here, as high as the Radiance is flying, but Iri's affiliation with the air still leaves her sensitive to temperature changes. There's no change to the ship, just in Iri's curiousity. "Why is cold radiating from you?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 8:13 pm

Lina closed her eyes, pulling her goggles off and handing them to Iri. "Yeah, things out of time are usually strictly regulated, but I think something happened to the people who do that. I suppose all that's out there are the parasites that always come to feed on the paradoxes now... So feel free to see the world through my eyes, so to speak, if you want"

"I want to be laid to rest. I've seen many of my family die then ended up watching them live again knowing how their time would eventually come, at least as I know if there's no paradoxes or tricks... Honestly I only am waiting for my brother's death, but he can't die till the end so I've got a long wait ahead." the girl replied, never opening her eyes, but keeping the ship moving at the same levels as she had before, she seemed to shake slightly more on the air currents she had no control over now, but mostly was keeping the ship stable.

"Emotional suppression technique" she said with a small shiver. "Use it a lot when I don't want to loose concentration on what I'm doing." she continued. "Figured it'd send cold ki into the crystals as well, guess not though?"

"The crystals react well to heat, but cool, not so much. I think a Mizu nin would have a hard time with this thing, unless they create a stream in the air or go for existing bodies of water."

The violet eyes widen and Iri accepts the goggles. She looks them over first. They don't look any different from any aviation goggles she's ever seen. Maybe they're supposed to look like that, though? Both wings shrug, and Iri slips them on. She can't help but grin. Iri knows she looks ridiculous wearing them. Aviation goggles are a tool she's tried before, but gave up after a few too many people teased her for it. The Fury definitely has a vain streak in her.

"I suppose time travel isn't my cup of tea, then. A longer life, maybe. What happens after your brother's death, though? Can you not stop time traveling and just move on to a new chapter in your life?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 8:39 pm

((Sort of how I picture what one side would display http://i54.tinypic.com/wrj405.jpg ))

"Ah, that makes sense then" Lina said with a shrug, before letting up on her suppression technique some. "I suppose most pure ki techniques I know aren't going to do much to help, well unless against a ship with a hot aura or cold aura I guess."

The goggles had a lot of text Iri's dominant eye alone would see most of the important details, some circles which if Iri looked at them enough would change and display solar cycle, lunar cycle, and rotational cycle respectively. There was a three dimensional tunnel pointing towards their destination and showing Lina was off course slightly, but it also moved around so it showed course corrections based on the air conditions. The temperature gauges reverted to good or warning respectively (though in their weird English characters) unless looked at directly.

"I've got it all planned out, my brother's life is tied to a demon, he can't die and it can't die till he does. I figure at the end of things I'll make sure he gets to escape and me and the demon go out together" Lina just grinned "A heroic death is what I'm waiting for, and I'll wipe my brother's copy of my memories so he can't bring me back" Lina pumped her fist into the air at this exclamation. Quickly after that she put her hands back onto the controls. "But that's not till the end of the universe, got a long way to go before that comes up... I think. Never can tell when the time travel incidents will decide to pop up, you have no idea how many times I was right in the middle of something when boom, falling down into some random backwoods place." It seemed somehow the dragon girl thought she could divert the conversation from her plans for her heroic death by going on to the other subject in a rush.

Iri is amazed by the eyepiece. It's like nothing she's ever seen. Fantastic! It's telling her things she already knows about wind conditions, course, and even the temperatures of the wings. These things, she can roughly determine through Kaze methods. But solar, lunar, and rotational cycles are beyond her. And the directional tunnel is much more accurate then her Kaze methods. It's just so fascinating. When she's done experimenting, Iri takes off the goggles and hands them back to Lina.

"Not until the end of the universe? I'm not sure I understand. You'll finish the demon and yourself when this universe ends? So you want your brother to go on after the end, with no memories of you, so he can't bring you back... I'm sorry, but, none of that makes sense to me. The universe part, especially. I guess you mean there are other universes, meaning you don't just travel through time. But why when this universe ends?"

The Fury's brow is furrowed a little in confusion and concentration. Aside from that, she's leaving her expression carefully blank.

Lina accepted her goggles back before putting them back on. Blinking a few times as she adjusted their course before rapidly decreasing the energy to the tail of the ship upon seeing the warnings.

"If our universe ends like the one before this one is said to have, then it's simply that a new universe will overwrite this one. Some people theorize that time travel works by freezing you in place until you reach your destination in not a parallel universe, but the one that's after the universe you came from" Lina just shrugged. "Honestly I'm just going to foist my time travel trick off on my brother and let him go and live his life with no memories of my memories I guess is the better option to say. If he remembers me he can just pull out some of his endless life reserves and make another body for me... but he won't do it unless he knows that me has all my memories and not ones made up by him." Lina just scratched her head for a few moments. "I want him to be able to live the life that was taken away from him, and all it'll take me is a death I've been putting off for too long, see?"

Lina shrugged her shoulders. "Well even if you don't, it's just my crazy hair brained plan. I mean nobody's given me any better ideas for managing to somehow leave the demon at the end of the universe with me and my brother both escaping."

"So, there could be another way?"

Iri looks down at her hands, her expression one of deep thought. Her eyes are darting from side to side. It's like she's reading something in her head. The Fury is going through her own personal store of techniques, considering each one as she goes through them.

"You say the demon will only reanimate if killed? He's kind of like you, right? What will binding him do? If you put him into a state in which he cannot move or use his energy, in which he can't get out or suicide in order to reanimate, will he be able to come back?"
