"Then sleep while riding," Rayel muttered impatiently, not moving her eyes from her horse. It was much easier to be patient when surrounded by priests in an isolated monastery. Satisfied that there were no hoof problems, she moved on to the ears and mouth.

This was well within Pyro's abilities, but she didn't want Rayel knowing this. "I tend to fall off and if I don't I get... um... sick. Yes, sick." She made up excuses and watched the knight for a reaction.

"Want me to tie you on?" Rayel snapped, her eyes flashing beneath her helmet.
Taken aback by her own vehemence, the knight paused and took a deep breath. Once she had been publicly commended for her patience, this wasn't like her. Rayel studied Pyro carefully, trying to eradicate her prejudices. This couldn't just be because the woman was a thief; she had dealt with such criminals before with much more mercy.
For whatever the reason, her behavior was unacceptable. She was a knight of the Merciful God, and it was not her place to judge. Even if Pyro was being purposefully difficult there was no need to treat her, or any other being, in this manner.
"I apologize," she said quietly, "that was unnecessary. If you need to rest then I am willing to wait. Indeed, it would be best to face these dangers at our full capacity, rather than to hastily rush off unprepared." Rayel looked to Meri, "Pending your approval. This is your mission. But if we rest, let me have the honor of holding first watch."

"Well then, we can ride." Pyro appeared to concede, but she ran her tongue across her incisors in delight that she had gotten under Rayel's armor. She turned to Meri. "We'll be going it seems."

Meri nodded. "Ye need not worry that ye'll fall of ye horsie." He smiled faintly. "If'n either of ye get that tired, I'll be catchin' ye, ye need not worry." He took a few steps and turned back to the pair.
"I suggest ye hold yer horses fer a second. I'll be making me travel easier on me feat n' me methods might spook t' horses."

Wordlessly Rayel turned her horse, holding his nose in her hands. "Easy now," she said quietly, more to herself than to Cheiron. "Good boy. Everything's fine. Everything is going to be fine. Good boy," she said, her voice dropping into a murmur.
The horse nudged her gently, knowing who was comforting who.

Pyro flicked a glance at Bale. "You don't move any other time, don't make a habit of it now." She put a firm hold on his reins.

((Appologies for not posting. Lack of internet lately))
Meri sighed as he took a few steps from the horses and their riders. He started a low, slow song as his back began to bulge and warp, but kept him in the exact same position.
The bard turned to face his companions so that they could not see the pair of light blue dragon wings emerging from his back. It wasn't too bad to look at, it just un-nerved people some times.
He stretched and unfurled his dragon wings. "Ah, that'll be easier on me poor, tired feat." He smiled faintly and then remembered something.
"Ah, Pyro. I have something to explain to you as we travel. It has a lot to do with why we are traveling and what will happen if we don't find answers and quickly."
((Mekaama and Dema, is it just my imagination or are you stalking me in a few different guilds... biggrin ))

Pyro hardly bothered Meri's wings a second glance. "Well, do explain." She prodded him to go on.
((Mekaama: *decays into squealing fan girl* itz cuz ur jus so great panthie! [insert obscene amount of heart s here] *suddenly snaps out of it, back to her serious, normal self* Just kidding. It's the dragons, what can I say...))

((I gathered as much. Whay can you say? Dragons rule.))
Meri gave a tired looking smile, one a grandfather might give a favoured grandchild. For conviniance sake he dropped his accent. He also signaled to the horses to start walking.
"When the dragons attacked the town earlier, they were affected by the rage." He smiled faintly. "I'm pretty sure that you saw me in my natural form of song dragon. And yes, this rage that's affecting all the dragons affects me too." He shook his head. "If you see my disposition change in anyway, try to do something to calm me. Otherwise, I might transform into my natural form and attack you, and that's something I really don't wish to do." He sighed and started walking with the horses, keeping his wings flat against his back. "Let's get some distance towards the monastry."

Pyro was momentarily confounded by his sudden accent drop, but shook it off. She then nodded. "Yeah, I saw you. I've seen wierder things. But then Bale took off." She threw an annoyed glare at the horse beneath her, which he received with a lazy flick of the ear. "And I'll keep the whole if you start to look pissed thing in mind."

Meri bowed to Pyro. "Thank ye fer understandin'. Now, let us be moovin' our buts." He grinned broadly at the pair and unfurled his wings. He jumped off the ground and flapped his wings a couple of times. He dropped a little and hovered behind the horses, where they couldn't see him and slapped their rumps, spurring them into a short lived run.

Bale slowed to a trot as soon as he could, snorting in annoyance. Pyro managed to keep him at this gait, however, and finally they began to make progress.

< *deliberately waits two days before posting (I seriously saw that an hour after you posted, it was hysterical)*
... maybe...
Hey, you invited me to half the guilds I'm in. It's your own fault I be stalking you. Not that I am... *turns off Panthie tracking device*>
Rayel deliberately kept her eyes off the wings of Meri, not wanting to seem backward and inexperienced. She also tried to keep from making eye contact with Pyro, not wanting to spur another petty argument. With a limited range of available looking space, the knight concentrated on the scenery, marveling at the approaching mountains.
Lost in thought, the woman spent the first hours of the journey in contemplative silence.

After a couple of hours, Meri started singing, lighting the area around him. It was a pleasant and bouncing song, one that didn't need words to provide merriment.
After a while he dropped to the ground and started trotting along with the horses, keeping pace with them.
"If'n either of ye need t' sleep, go ahead n' sleep. I'll catch ye if'n ye decide t' fall off."
