What came next, was brutal. The clone's quick slash dug deep into the huge man's side, only stopping when the clone was shattered into thousands of pieces by the huge club, sending rocks flying out to the side. But before anyone could comprehend the genin turning to stones, another explosion rocked the camp right in front of the man. There was no warning this time, no way he could have known. What chunks of the clone hadn't been blasted away already, that mainly being the head and shoulders, were flung by the blast straight into the man's incredible gut, sinking further even than the sword already had and mangling a few important bits.
Flung by the explosion, an impressive feat even for the ten feet it threw him, the man landed on his back, steaming from the water being flash dried off of him, bleeding from multiple gaping holes in his front, and with a now obviously made of stone sword still sticking out of him, surprisingly still intact. The man wasn't dead, not yet. Eyes unseeing, he stared upwards, gasping for air to fill a useless lung. He wouldn't be getting up again.
And the others? They weren't quite so relaxed anymore. A second explosion, and an actual death among their numbers. This was nothing to laugh about, and they still didn't know where the actual enemy was. All weapons were now drawn, and motion had resumed in the remaining tent as it seemed the last member of the group was getting ready to come out after all. The large hole in his tent from one of the flying rocks may have helped that decision along.
The men outside formed a circle of sorts, not moving from their positions, but turning so that they could see in every direction. Whoever he came out in front of would call out, and they would deal with him then.

Feeling the man landing away, Akura moved his hand to the side, the second clone nodded. Loud chuckling came from behind a tree and the second clone stepped out into the clearing. The real Akura had scanned over the men and noticed that they didn't have long ranged weapons so he had nothing to worry about. " I'm afraid that the ones that shouldn't have come here where you." The clone taunted the men, his arms crossed, just waiting for the men to do something, maybe charge at him so Akura could unleash the explosion barrage, or his wide spread jutsu to do as most damage as he could; he just needed the men to do something.

As the new clone spoke, all the men turned back to face it. Before any of them could act though, to charge like he wanted, or even speak, something flew from the now open flap of the remaining tent. An arrow, steel tipped and moving at an incredible speed, was on a beeline course for the clone's head. In the door of the tent could be seen a large compound bow, vibrating still from releasing the arrow.
Whether the arrow hit or not, the archer stepped out of the tent, revealing them to be a tall woman with long black hair, and a scowl on her face as she looked between the near corpse on the ground, and the boy she had shot. She stood about five feet eight inches tall, and was strongly built. For clothes she wore green pants and shirt, and leather boots. Besides that, she had a leather strap across her chest holding a quiver to her back, containing many more of the steel tipped arrows. Another arrow was already in her hand, notched to the bowstring before she had even come out of the tent.

Akura felt shifting on the side, but he couldn't see anything, just a tent on the side. Akura kept his gaze set there and saw a glimmer blasting out from there, the reflexion of the sun hitting on a metal and following the movement ' s**t s**t s**t. ' Akura thought making handseals, slamming his hands on the ground. Meanwhile the clone was oblivious to what was going on, though he moved his right arm at his face level, about to address the bandits, a movement that would end him the boy pointing at them. With his hand movement the boy took an arrow to the forearm, not going through completely because he was made of stone; and just as the arrow hit the real Akura's jutsu came into activation, Ram Head, creating a stone wall on the clone's flank to protect him from in coming jutsu.
With all of the distractions that where going on, Akura would begin to sneak his way toward another palm tree that would be behind the tent, using the ram head as a cover from the other bandit's line of sight. In the long run, the arrow would play to his advantage by allowing him to move around without being seen. And due to the fact that the newest attacker was still tangled inside the tent odds where she couldn't see him moving in the background. By the time he had made it to the palm tree he took his blade out and crawled his way to the tent, remaining hidden from any thing, or anyone that wasn't behind the tent, and by the time he'd get to where he could feel the woman moving he'd grip the already drawn blade and stab it upward, in hopes to grab the woman's heart, lung or neck with that one stab.

As the wall went up, the hammer wielding bandit took it as a sign that this was the real target and began to move forward, only to be halted as the woman called out. "Stay away from him! He's a fake." In the split second between the arrow hitting the clone and the wall going up, she had noticed something wrong. A couple things actually. One, there was no sound of pain. Two, ninja usually used their hands to create jutsu like that. And three, there was no blood. But the real one had to be nearby. A technique like that was only used in close range, so he had probably been directly behind the clone. And so her eyes were rapidly flicking through the trees around the barrier, searching for anything to tell her where the target was. And then she saw it. he was trying to hide, darting between the trees and trying to flank around the camp. And he didn't have an arrow in his arm.
In an instant, two more arrows were flying towards the real Akura. One positioned to hit the tree before he could get to it, and one to his heart an instant later. If he cared to notice while he was either bleeding to death or dodging, these arrows were slightly slower than the last. If the last was at A ranked speed, these were B.
The others, who hadn't picked up on the real Akura yet, were watching the rock wall warily. If that was another fake hiding behind it, odds were he would explode too, right? The armored bandit quickly found himself at the head of the group as the others subtly moved behind him. With a scowl at his "allies", the man simply raised his shield, watching the barrier closely.

While Akura was fighting, David quickly found himself growing bored. He had to be here, yes. But he wasn't supposed to interfere, and watching Akura fight was rather boring. So, having already somewhat sized up the opponents in their initial actions, David determined to only interfere once he heard screaming, and turned instead to the satchel lying beside him. Pulling his giant scroll of sand jutsu out, he rolled it open and began studying it.
Rolling the scroll out, he skipped to a section further than he'd ever actually read in the scroll. He'd skimmed up to B rank before, but he decided now, to check out the A ranks. He'd heard there were useful clone techniques at that rank, that had unique powers that would have kept him from having to babysit Akura on this mission had he known them. Sure enough, a very short perusal of the rank revealed just such a technique. Labeled as the “Sabaku Bunshin”, it had the ability to transfer memories to it's creator. [1/8]
Reading the jutsu over again more slowly, David examined it's different points. It had the same strength as the suna bunshin, which he already knew, but could change color, and didn't regenerate. Regenerate? David paused, reading that line again and blinking. He... Hadn't known about that. Shaking it off and making a note to study the clone he already knew further in future, the boy moved on. The difference between the jutsu was apparently the formation of chakra pathways in this one, mimicking human chakra systems. [2/8]
The formation of chakra paths would allow the clone to channel jutsu of it's own, making it far more dangerous to the enemy than a typical clone. This was good. David smiled, moving on from the description to the instructions. The first portion of the jutsu was to create a simple suna bunshin. That was easy enough. But then he had to flood it with chakra. The only time he'd used more chakra than these instructions required, was when he blocked the Cloverfield monster's final attack on Suna... [3/8]
The extra chakra apparently went directly into creating the pathways, literally carving them into the sand. It had to be enough to create a system of constantly moving chakra within artificial coils of solid chakra. The instructions included a diagram that he had to guess was the basic shape of the human chakra system, and it had to be copied near perfectly into the clone. Well, David wasn't considered, at least by some, a genius for nothing. The next while was spent not only ignoring explosions from the oasis below, but memorizing the intricate paths of chakra in the image before him. [4/8]
Now, it was time to practice. First, David put his memorization to work. Holding out his hands, he let chakra trail out of his fingertips, trailing through the air in a way he'd never tried before. Sand flew from the ground, encircling the chakra strands, and David smiled. It was instinctual, unintended really, but the sand attaching itself to the chakra actually made this much easier. Thinning the now sand made strings, he twisted them around before him, trying to recreate the chakra system shown in the diagrams. [5/8]
Once he had the basic shape of the system down, he began fine tuning it. Twisting a piece here, straightening one there, adding all the tiny needle like threads that would make up the replica's tenketsu. And then, when he felt he had the shape right, he began circulating it. Adding a bit more chakra, he let it flow through the strings, represented in his sand recreation by tiny lumps traveling through the lines. [6/8]
As the chakra circulated, he reached deep into his own, pumping his into circulation as well and feeling how it moved, only to copy the motion over into the floating system in front of him. Soon, the chakra flowing through the replica system was identical to his own. At that point, he added more chakra, making the system larger, thicker coils much like his own, and a small supply right where he felt his own to be. [7/8]
It was perfect now. The system, he felt, would continue pumping itself even if he were to remove his control over it now. And so it was time to add the final touch. Sand rose from the ground, surrounding the replica system. First feet, then legs, the sand rose upwards, building the body as it went until finally there stood a perfect sand replica of himself. And as a final touch, the sandy color faded away, skin matching his own, clothes and hair perfect replications. [8/8]
And finally it was done. He cheated he supposed, by building it around the system, but there was the result. The clone was standing before him, moving it's own limbs and examining them, as if utterly fascinated by himself. David half wanted to dismiss the clone just to retrieve the memories it would hold, and truly see if it had worked. But the cost really was high, and he didn't feel any great urge to try spending it again, even if a good portion would come back to him. A waste was a waste, and he wasn't one to waste anything.
So, turning away from the clone for a moment, David rolled up his scroll, stuffing it back into the satchel. Picking up the bag and standing aside, he waved to the seat. ”Watch the boy for me.” he ordered the clone, as if he even had to speak aloud. The clone simply nodded, moving over to his seat and sitting down. ”Yes sir.” the sand replica said back, a lopsided grin on his face for a moment, before it turned back to normal. David raised one eyebrow at that. Less at the humor shown, as he didn't care about that, but more due to the fact the clone spoke at all. His normal sand clones never showed any inclination towards speech, to where he believed they must be incapable. So this one truly was superior, if expensive.
Handing the clone the mission slip and turning away, David walked away with a smile. He had a valuable new trick in his hands, and didn't need to stay anymore. That clone would be plenty to deal with the bandits below if needed. Akura likely wouldn't even notice the difference one the fight was over. He could use this new technique to deal with other people, and finally get back to his training. So it was with an unusually good mood that he headed back towards Suna.

~ [Chakra: 64/90] [Sand: 240lb] [Mission Points: 60] [D-0][C-3][B-1][A-0][S-1] Sorry Akura, but it had to be done. If I knew you'd be back to finish this up right away it'd be one thing, but it's been a week now and I want to keep David moving. You do however have a fully capable David Clone, so no worries! You'll only die if you screw up enough to get him killed! Quote: Sabaku Bunshin [Desert Clone] Rank: A Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Element: Sand Prerequisites: Suna Bunshin Description: An advanced form of the Suna Bunshin, this clone has the same physical stats as the Suna Bunshin. However, this clone does not have the regeneration ability of that technique. Instead, this technique focuses on creating chakra pathways within the clone's body. With these pathways, the clones are able to utilize ninjutsu to a limited degree. Any sand jutsu known to the user below A rank can be used by the clones, and they can even use their own body as a source. If the clone uses it's body as a jutsu source, it is destroyed immediately. These jutsu are usable through a store of chakra given to them upon creation. The size of the store is decidable by the user, to a maximum of twenty points. The Sabaku Bunshin, unlike the Suna Bunshin, takes on the coloration of it's creator. Upon being destroyed or dismissed, any chakra remaining in the clone returns to the creator along with it's memories. Note: Only one Sabaku Bunshin may be created in a single post, and only two may be active at a time.

It wasn't long after David left, that the clone did in fact hear screaming. Looking up from it's hand, which it had still been rather interestedly examining, it peered through the viewing port David had made, searching the oasis below for Akura. Soon enough, he spotted him. Behind a tree, the boy was lying on the ground clutching his arm, where there appeared to be an arrow embedded. Back with the bandits, he could see the archer who had done it notching another arrow, and the rest of the group were advancing. If Akura didn't recover soon, his life would likely be ended by the bandits.
Sighing to itself, the clone stood to it's feet, resigned to the fact that it'd have to save the boy. A pity, David had been looking forward to having more higher ranking shinobi around the village he could shove stuff off on. Jumping over the sand barrier, it ran to the end of the dune and slid down, moving into the oasis proper as fast as it could go moving through the thick sand, as it seemed David's unusual ability to walk on sand as if it were rock had not been passed down.
Just as the clone reached solid ground, it had to lunge forward into a roll as the archer released her arrow, aiming not at the boy, but at the clone. Turning not to the bandits to fight, nor to Akura to save him, David's clone instead looked to the other clone in the area, which was still hiding behind a stone wall. "Detonate!" he ordered, before turning to Akura, grabbing him, and moving them both behind a tree as the explosion began.
~
On the bandit's side of the field, that was a disaster. Unlike the shinobi, for they had no way of knowing the new arrival was a clone as well, they had nothing to hid behind. Nothing except for their armored ally, who wasn't exactly sure his armor could take the force himself. Not to mention the fact that they couldn't all fit behind him. A split second decision, and the man jumped in front of the only person in the area he actually cared about, the archer, and raised his shield to cover as much of them both as he could manage. As the explosion erupted, rocks from both the wall and the clone itself flew across the oasis, most, from the wall, straight towards the bandits. David's clone and Akura were far enough away to be safe from the clone's rocks, but the bandits weren't so lucky. Stones from the wall tore through the defenseless hammer and sword wielding bandits, and the small one wearing claws dove behind the now very dead corpse of the brute, barely escaping the barrage.
As the rocks stopped flying, and both sides were able to see the destruction, the armored man grit his teeth in anger. He'd never cared much for these outlaws, but still, seeing them all die so... Pathetically, was an outrage. He would have loved to walk over there and finish the brat who had attacked them himself, but there was this new enemy to worry about now. If one had done this much damage, and the other had been hiding this whole time, it was likely that he was a much stronger opponent. "Cut and run!" he yelled, turning around just enough to give the woman behind him a shove in the other direction. She looked ready to argue for a moment, and really, she had the right. This was her group, not his. But after surveying the damage for another moment, she relented, turning away. The claw wielder had long since fled, running as soon as the rocks had stopped, and so, the armored man turned himself, joining them in the run down the path away from the oasis.
~
David's clone watched the bandits leave, truly wanting to finish them, chase them down and execute them as David had the market thieves so long ago now, but he had something David hadn't back then. A genin blacked out from blood loss, with an arrow sunk into the bone of his right arm. Carefully grasping the arrow with his right hand, he held it tightly in place as he snapped the shaft with his left. He didn't dare pull it out now, for fear of the extra damage it would do, and the added blood loss that would result. With the arrow taken care of, for now, the clone picked the boy up, and began to run as fast as it dared back towards the village. This mission was a failure. He wasn't sure where it had gone wrong exactly, but it had.

David nodded at Enro's answer. So he was indeed in a position of leadership. Good. As they neared the water of the oasis, David pulled his cart to a stop. With a flick of his wrist, twin bands of sand leapt up from the ground, pulling the pins the held the oxen to the carts. The moment they were free, the beasts moved off on their own, wandering over to Lloyd, the Ox that had taken up residence here so long ago. It was a mystery to most how he survived, but the beast not only survived, but thrived on the scarce vegetation of the oasis.
"This mission may be important, but it's not desperate." David spoke, watching the beasts walk away and stretching his muscles to relieve any traveling cramps. "We can take our time here."
"How many chakra exercises do you know?" the teen suddenly asked a few seconds later, even as he gestured for the older man to begin unloading the barrels from both wagons. "It's best to avoid getting any dirt or sand in the water, which almost always happens if you fill from the edge. I could try hanging the barrels in with my sand, but it would erode and drop the barrel quite quickly. The best method is to use water walking and fill from the center of the pool." he explained his reason for the query, jumping off the cart and stretching his legs. After walking a short distance, he returned to the cart, dipping his hand in his satchel and pulling out a scroll, which he unrolled and leaned against the cart as he began to read, one eye still on Enro, both watching him work, and waiting for his response.

Tenrousei Enro || Genin || Sealing|| Yohei|| Enro watched the oxen move off on their own, released from their bonds by sandy appendages conjured by the Kazekage. There was something spectacular about his non-nonchalant dominance of the landscape that was enough to almost make the soldier forget he was working alongside a young man harboring a beast of supernatural forces within his body. He stepped down from the wagon and unhitched the oxen manually as David talked.
He lifted a single barrel from the back of the wagon, the process made awkward only due to the cumbersome size of the barrel. Enro was plenty strong enough to carry it and held it before him, striding towards the edge of the water. He raised the Kazekage's eyebrows at his experience with chakra exercises and the knowledge that water walking would be the best way to fill up the barrels.
"If you are wondering if I know the water walking exercise, the answer is no,"
He allowed the barrel to impact the sand. He could have just jumped into the water itself but he wasn't sure the Kazekage would take well to the act. Regardless he had a feeling the Kazekage would want to have him learn the technique although it wasn't exactly vital for ninja in the Wind Country. "Perhaps you could craft some sort of platform and I could drop the barrel in and pull it out?"

David raised an eyebrow at Enro's answer, and offered alternative. The man seemed to have picked up on where he was going with the questioning, but was trying to get out of it? "I was actually wondering if you knew the wall walking technique." he replied, ignoring the man's suggestion. "Water walking is in the end, just a more advanced form of it." he added, eyes turning momentarily back to his scroll, before focusing more intently on Enro as the scroll was lowered.
"A lot of Suna nin feel water walking is a useless art, simply because this is the largest body of water in our country." he gestured towards the pool, which even at it's widest point was barely a hundred feet across. "But they forget, or rather ignore, strategies and instances where it could be useful. What if a long range specialist was in the middle of that pool, and you couldn't reach them? Or perhaps, if one of those hideouts you seek has water traps. Few would be prepared for a water based trap in a desert. And even better, what if you take a mission in Water country?"
"I can see many reasons for learning the technique, and few to ignore it. It's why I chose this mission in the first place." With that, David returned his attention to his scroll, lifting it suggestively in the last sentence, indicating that it was in fact, a scroll on the art of water walking. The oasis, being the only significant body of water in the country, was the only place a suna nin could really learn the technique, short of wasting water trying to learn in a bathtub.
~ [Chakra: 108/108] [Sand: 16] [Mission Points: 79] [E-0][D-2][C-3][B-1][A-1][S-1] David actually unhitched both carts. I'd only seen the carts as having one each really, since they had to get through the market and such. Then again I suppose three fifty gallon barrels could get pretty darn heavy.

Tenrousei Enro || Genin || Sealing|| Yohei|| Enro sighed as David listed the merits of the water-walking technique, resigning to the fact that the Kazekage was right on all accounts. It would seem that maintaining the traditionalist training he'd underwent simply didn't match the versatility some jutsu could offer. The teachers in the academy, though awed by his physical prowess, remarked that his lack of faith in the the uses of chakra would seriously limit his abilities in the future. Deaf to their warnings, he only worked his body harder.
"I have heard of both exercises but have never pursued them myself," he finally admitted in defeat, frowning slightly. "You are right in saying they would be valuable skills for a ninja,"

"Ninja!" David scoffed, shaking his head at Enro's comment. "I imagine anyone would find them useful. Imagine a merchant that could travel across the sea without a boat, or up a cliff without a path. He'd soon be the richest man alive."
Chuckling at his own comment, David pocketed his scroll, having finished reading it for now, and advanced on the nearest tree. A typical palm tree, as was common to deserts. This one was curved, the base of the trunk nearly level, and easily walked along, which is just what he did. However, as the trunk soon turned upwards, too steep to walk normally, he continued, walking straight up the tree, before turning around once he'd neared the top, and looking down on Enro.
"Approach your tree," he began, obviously intending for the man to learn the technique before they did anything further, and pointing at a similar tree to his own, directly beside it. "And focus your chakra into your feet as you walk towards it. Focus on making the chakra stick to the surface, and alternate so that only one foot is stuck at a time, unless you intend both feet to be stuck." Finished his explanation unless the man asked further questions, David settled in to watch the results.
He knew most teachers liked to make their pupils run up their first tree, but he found that to be foolish. The student would be too focused on the physical, trying to physically move up the tree rather than taking the time to establish the connection. As a result, anyone learning by that method tended to fall, suffering many bruises, and often worse injuries, while his own method risked nothing, as the student would only reach such a height if they had mastered the technique. Running with it active could come later with practice. To start with it made the student rely upon it, weakening the overall effect of the jutsu.
~ [Chakra: 107/108] [Sand: 16] [Mission Points: 79] [E-0][D-2][C-3][B-1][A-1][S-1] Quote: Kabenobori [Wall Walking] Rank: D Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Description: Wall walking, or the art of walking on walls, is a chakra exercise ninja utilize to stick themselves to surfaces they could not normally stay on. Most notably, walking up a vertical surface as if it were the ground. This technique can be used on any solid surface, with any part of your body. If you really wanted, you could attach your elbows to the ceiling and hang by them. Besides it's basic use of clinging to surfaces, this can be used to pick up and hold objects with parts of your body that could not do so normally, such as the soles of your feet. This is a passive ability, and as such does not require seals nor incantation after it has been learned. Use of the technique costs one point of chakra every post it is active for, doubled if you are carrying another person or object equal to your own size or weight (Per person/object). There is no time limit on this jutsu.

Tenrousei Enro || Genin || Sealing|| Yohei|| Enro found David's example valid though he imagined the technique used in more militant ways such as scaling the sides of a merchant vessel at night after traversing a lake. If the crew docked at a port for a night they could wake up with their vessel long gone and the crew left aboard dead or missing.
Clearing his head of such thoughts, he observed the Kazekage's display of the technique upon the trunk of a nearby palm tree. He'd seen other shinobi do the same thing and was informed enough to understand the mechanics behind the techniques, he'd just never tried to learn it himself. With no questions in mind Enro approached the palm tree David pointed towards and stopped at its base. He frowned and lifted his right hand to form The Seal of Confrontation, a one-handed half tiger/half-ram seal. It was the first 'hand seal' Enro ever learned and it was used to symbolize ritual confrontation between two ninja. Enro used it to concentrate his chakra into the soles of his feet, lightly stirring the sand as it flowed around his feet. Releasing the seal Enro confidently planted his foot onto the trunk of the tree and smoothly brought his other foot up, sliding down almost half an inch in the process due to a miscalculation on the flow of his chakra. He progressed at a steady speed, occasionally splintering the bark due to excess chakra or sliding downwards by a small degree due to releasing too little chakra.
By the end he was looking at the Kazekage,, crouching upside down on the sloped trunk to look at the Kazekage. His expression was stoic seeking no congratulations and expressing no pride in his success. "Do you shinobi have a technique that can stick people and objects together like this?" he inquired suddenly, already thinking of ways to aggressively modify the technique.
Edit: Just saw your post in the Custom Jutsu thread after posting this...

David nodded in satisfaction as Enro slowly scaled the tree. As he'd expected, the man picked the technique up quickly. It was after all merely a simple application of chakra control, and while the files indicated the man had been reluctant in learning of chakra in the academy, he had done well in the few things they got him to try. It was David's hope that despite the man's advanced age in starting his training, he could advance quickly, and a good grasp of chakra control was really all that was needed for that.
At the man's question, David cocked his head to the side, honestly rather interested in the idea. "I'd have to look it up sometime. I've never heard of it, but I rarely claim to know everything." With that, he cut the flow of chakra to his feet, slowly falling forwards, too slowly to be natural in fact, through a roll to land on his feet, without him moving a single muscle or body part to facilitate the action, as if he had simply relocated. "There are of course other applications of the base technique. Come down here and give me your sword." The words were somewhere between a request and an order, it wasn't a command, but it was expected to be obeyed.
~ [Chakra: 107/108] [Sand: 16] [Mission Points: 79] [E-0][D-2][C-3][B-1][A-1][S-1] Grgh, I got nothing more for this one. And yeah, at some point during/after that post I got to thinking a sticky trap would be pretty cool and wrote that jutsu. I find the idea of a taijutsu user using it to deflect a punch and stick an opponent's hand to the wall hilarious and amazing.

Tenrousei Enro || Genin || Sealing|| Yohei|| As an soldier would Enro responded almost automatically, allowing the flow of chakra to his feet to stop. Gravity immediately took hold of his body, pulling him down without the smooth grace the Kazekage somehow displayed as he fell. Rather he quickly flipped in mid-air, landing with an explosion of sand. He seemed unfazed by the landing despite the fact he didn't even roll to lessen the force on his body.
As he rose his arm rose over his right shoulder to grasp the hilt of the stand-issue blade he purchased within the village. With a single, practiced motion he drew the blade and the sunlight reflected marvelously on the metal. The weapon was in pristine condition under Enro's care it seemed. As he approached the Kazekage he slowly flipped the blade and presented the weapon handle first to the Kazekage. He figured, as this next exercise would be another application of the same technique, that the man would be able to hold the weapon without relinquishing his hold on it.
For some reason he was not suspicious of the request although the man could easily attempt to cut him down if he so chose. It was an unlikely scenario; why train someone only to attack them only moments later. David wasn't his sensei though his reasons for bringing Enro specifically out on the mission was still a mystery.
((Yeah, I'm just using this opportunity to flesh out more of Enro's character. He's not much of a talker as you can tell.
Also sticking someone's sword to a wall or their feet to the ground!))
