Alarm filled Arolon's eyes. 'Sibling rivalry does NOT include killing your unhatched siblings! That dragon needs more control!' He thought silently. Now he understood Imposter Gold Egg's concern. It knew how bad the anger between the two really was like. Blinding Red Egg, though brave, might be in danger there. Was the egg that was rolled alright? Would there be a fight? They HAD to be brothers, it was competition driving them.

So an Impression had occurred in the stands, and the Dragon had moved before waiting for others. Leicha found this all interesting, a little different from any of the other - and his thoughts came to a crashing halt as the sounds of screeching blanketed the air. He knew this sound - he'd heard it at an Impression before, and it was nothing good. Nothing good at all.

When he looked over and saw another Candidate slowly moving for the egg, his eyes drew wide with a mixture between concern and anger. He'd be damned if through inaction of any kind he let a fellow get crushed.

"You idiot! Back away from it now!"

His barking voice startled Panata before him, who had been slowly backing against Leicha when the Bronze emerged with an angry roar. The older youth looked down at the smaller and yanked him behind, in case something should happen. Shards!

Gasping Nadia watched as the newly hatched bronze bursted out of his shell with an angry snap, with a sinking felling she watched as he knocked the Sunset egg towards the males and berly avoided crushing the blinding red egg. Jerking forward she watched knowing that there was nothing her or anyone could do to stop what was already in motion.

Woah, woah…so angry! Mishaal started forward rather than backwards, taking a step towards the dragonet despite being quite far from him. His split second reaction thought was to go try to calm down the enraged bronze somehow, fix this. Anyone who’d been near those eggs knew that the Seaside and Sunset had some serious tension between them. But what exactly would he do to soothe a dragonet? Walking up to it’d be asking to be mauled…maybe it’d calm down once it started looking at the candidates rather than focusing on it’s fellows.

Mishaal watched and kept on his toes, thinking it must be rather disorienting to be either the Sunset or the Blinding Red right now. Sent tumbling while still a’shell. Surely they'd be alright this close to hatching themselves, not hurt.

Yes, yes, you're a beautiful bonze beast, fierce and proud, now settle down and look for Yours. The two hatched bronzes couldn't be more different! The faster this dragonet found His the better.

Shards and shells and everything Between! Jaylin stumbled backwards in surprise as the Sunset egg's former occupant announced himself and immediately turned upon his... foe? Enemy? Sibling? He knew first-hand that "sibling rivalry" could come to blows but this... Seeing it happen to someone else was somewhat refreshing, but Jaylin was taken aback by how brutal it was.

Sure, he had been knocked around himself... but this? "Now that was uncalled for!" He snapped, "I don't know what went on, but there's no victory when your opponent can't fight back!" Victory was all about your opponents seeing the triumph on your face when you get the upper hand on them, after all.

...Except now he could foresee some of his fellow weyrbrats taking that as a hint to come get revenge for all those "accidents" in crafting class while they still can. Oops.

That egg now -- he glanced at it, then back at the dragon. To him, the dragon was a lot more important on his self-preservation list. He didn't fancy getting mauled today, thanks.

Wait! His eyes widened further. Sunrise Bronze was out there! "RUN! FIND YOURS!" He shouted a warning to the blue eyed timid one. If he didn't get out of there his brother may fight him! He trembled badly, thinking of every bad outcome there may be. He wanted to move, to help, to protect, ANYTHING! He couldn't, but Oh! He wanted, needed to move. He hoped his warning was heard.

Kamihan shot a sharp, defiant glare over his shoulder at the boy who had addressed him, though only for a split second -- he hardly dared to take his eyes off the raging bronze dragonet. It wasn't as if he was running for the egg, for Faranth's sake! He stayed where he was, though, not trying to move any closer.

It was one thing if a Candidate was injured. That was part of the danger of hatchings, it was something they'd signed up for just by being here. Not the same for the unhatched creatures in front of him, Pern's saviors. They were supposed to be safe. He wasn't about to let any of the dragonets get hurt because everyone was too cowardly to do anything.

"Shells!" Zia exclaimed, such a ferocious little guy. She shook fearing for the egg that was rolling toward the male candidates.

"Why would it throw another egg like that?" She worried, the Weyr needed all of the dragons possible and the thought of losing one was pretty hard to bare.

Trying to stay focused on the bronze, it would be silly to be in the way if it were to charge into the crowd, every candidate hears stories about maulings by dragonets. She couldn't help but look toward the sunset egg, would the dragonet within be alright?

"Poor dear," Zia rubbed her hands together then jerked hard on her braid, a nervous habit from being worried about her little brothers all of the time. Generally in her nervous state she'd send Bark after the child in question. But, it wouldn't be good to send Bark after an egg that was much larger than him, what good would that do?

When a boy or two moved closer, she gave a disapproving stare and hoped that sense would find them soon, otherwise sharp talons might instead!

Panata listened as Leicha made a 'tsk' sound, his head turning to the side. He thought he heard the older candidate mumble about 'leaving deadglows to their fate', and he frowned as he slowly stepped away from Leicha's side and out towards where Kamihan was moving. He'd help his friend, since he could recall helping him out before, even if it meant that he could get injured. There was nothing to fear if the others were moving...right?

Right?

- -

As the small boy seemed to take his own initiative to move away and go towards the rolling egg, Leicha didn't take the time to reach for his arm or pull him back. There was no point in this anymore, let an angry Bronze and a heavy egg show them all the real horror of an Impression.

They may all have not seen this before, but he had. It was only a matter of time before someone didn't get back up from an encounter.

Kestra wasn’t sure what, if anything, they should do. The bronze was too young to know better about hurting humans, and if he harmed his clutch mates, maybe he was too young to know better about that either. Hatchings were often smattered with the odd accident amongst the candidates – just think of the three greens who hatched over at Telgar recently, where two candidates had been killed – but amongst dragons she didn’t think it was common.

A remarkable clutch, full of surprises. Now they just needed this bronze to settle down, back off from the other eggs and find his boy. Though if any of the boys wanting him right now was something else. Everyone seemed rather concerned and nervous right now and that was no surprise.

The bronze thumped his tail against the ground, screeching again. Some of the more skitish adult dragons even backed up, and many people covered their ears the sound was so horrible. The other two eggs had been disturbed, but had not moved, worrying many, and among those numbers the Weyrwoman. Had...

No, she couldn't think things like that. If there was someone to be worried for, it was the candidates, not the dragons.

Hearing Jaylin, Sakneth turned toward him, hissing viciously. Perhaps he'd have made a move to go after the boy, if not for another catching his eye. What did that one think he was doing?! Screaming for all to hear yet again, the bronze ran right into Panata, dragging his claws up the boys side.

How dare he! How DARE he!

For once Arolon was glad to be in the back. Here came the maulings. He danced on his toes, prepared to avoid an attack or the rush of boys backing up. One had to remain quiet, and alert in these instances. Green Paradise was smart not to hatch yet, same for Blinding Red. Then again, this bronze's rival had better hatch soon lest he come back to destroy the egg his brother nestled in.

The screaming was horrible, this fierce creature was proud, competitive, angry. He demanded respect even from birth and lashed out at those he deemed unworthy. The rider of this dragon had better be strong, for this was a strong dragon.

WHERE was the timid bronze?

Oh SHARDS.

"Everyone, GET BACK."

Aiyisha couldn't help herself now, running forward to try and pry the attacked individual away from the angry bronze or to try and keep others back. Her judgment clouded with fear that someone might really die here. Ayi splayed her hands and waved away anyone who might rush to handle the bronze.

"If you value your lives or limbs, GET BACK." Her tone was not nice but she didn't care. This was DANGEROUS and no one else needed to be wounded today.

She herself was trying to stay as far from the dragon as she could, but also still trying to extricate the poor soul from such a wrathful hatchling.

"Shards!" Gyl barked in his faint voice, jerking back as Panata was raked with the angry Bronze's claws. What should he do? Should he go and help him and risk the Bronze's rage, or should he stay still like his father had? That had done well for him, but it might not bode well for Gyl! Glancing back at the still-unhatched eggs and the Bronze that was still comfortable in his shell, Gylren wondered if there were any other angry dragonets just waiting to burst from their shells in there.
