SHATTER! Clink clink clink clink.

Alex froze, right hand half way to her sword. The glass of the windows of the restaurant shattered and fell to the ground in a sound akin to a glass harp. She looked around to see glass in front of its previous home, be it door or window or lamp, piled on the ground. She shook her left arm, desperiately trying to get it to regain feeling. She could move everything from her fingers up to her shoulder, but it felt as if there wasn't anything there.

She cursed under her breath and looked around again. What would cause all the glass in the district it seemed to just shatter like that? Whatever it was, it was not going to be friendly.

[Hefin]

{The blades don't lead to war, it's the soldier}

[Traverse Town : First District]

"I believe I'll get myself a steak. There are few better meals than a slab of cow," he said to his dinner company. He twisted his seat sideways so he could sit down without unslinging his hammer. "But what's this 'sashooey' you're talking about? Doesn't sound half ba-" He was cut off by the sudden cacophony of all nearby glass objects spontaneously exploding. He lept up from his seat and looked around for what could have possibly done that, when se saw the toxic fog start to descend upon them.

All colour drained from his face; he was always prepared to fight Heartless, but fog had no physical form to it. His hands instinctively retrieved his hammer from his back, as he normally would when he was in danger. He looked from the head of his hammer and back to the fog, then suddenly got an idea.

"Sory, if we want to, you know, not die, I'm going to need you to make sure I can build up some steam without being attacked. Think you can do that?"

[[Masenko-Ma]]

"If at first you don't succeed..."

___[Castle Oblivion .:. Kitchen]

Masenko stumbled into the kitchen, still half asleep and yawning as he crashed into the fridge. Bags were under his eyes and he looked as though he hadn't shaven in a few days either. The Unseen Daemon reached in the fridge and pulled out a bottle of Tabasco sauce, chugging the entire bottle straight before looking at Vereor and Haruko. He stared for a minute, still half asleep. "That's some hot stuff, man. I mean, look:" Masenko snapped his fingers, conjuring a small cloud of gas before burping out it. The cloud ignited into fire, causing Masenko to jump back in pseudo-surprise, laughing loudly. "Man, that was crazy!"

"... Then you were taught by losers."

{A heart shed for power is the only heart of worth.}

[Castle Oblivion : Kitchen]

Without hesitation, Vereor lifted his Dragoon-Knight piece and formed an L, going closer toward the center though still a distance from any nearby piece. He gave no 'farewell' to Aria or Olum, merely focusing (or so it seemed) on the game.

~~~
A few minutes had passed, and so far it seemed that, while Haruko had captured the most pieces- 7 to be precise-, they were all pawns (Dusks) whereas Vereor had only captured 6, but most were powerful pieces: both of her rooks (Darkballs), a Bishop (Angel Star), and even her queen (Darkside), the other 3 were pawns (Neoshadows). Vereor still had all of his key pieces left, and one pawn to go.
It was at that moment that Masenko decided to awake, strolling lazily into the kitchen and putting on a show- which earned himm no response from Vereor besides, "You missed tea."
{Ignorance is bliss... until reality throws a Heartless siege at you.}
[Traverse Town : First District]
Soryuju was about to agree- steak was truly divine sometimes, but a little out of his traveler's budget- when the sudden shattering of glass brought him up from the table, immediately tensed. He looked out toward the center courtyard of the First District, and all he saw was a dusky green fog slowly creeping in their direction. His eyes immediately narrowed before he grabbed his spear off the wall.
"Consider it done, Hef," Soryuju replied, dashing to the front of the man and trying to think of a Heartless that could do this- he could think of none. With a scowl, he began to inhale deeply, focusing energy into his vocal chords- just in case.
Solaris
{Sorry, I'll be taking my leave now.}
[Traverse Town : First District]
Sol just shook his head as he watched Enyb the chocobo walk off. Glancing at Nalo, he said softly, "Sorry, I'll be taking my leave now." Walking away, he only made it several feet before he heard the shattering of glass. Looking up, he saw a rather large shard of glass heading towards him. "Reflect." Sol said, holding his staff just above his head. Instantly, a reflective orb surrounded him, causing the shards to harmlessly bounce away. When they had safely fallen, Sol lowered the staff and the spell disappeared. Some people might consider it a waste of magic, but he had high enough reserves to use simple spells easily. Besides, it was either that or dodge out of the way. And if Sol was forced to do the latter, he most likely would have gotten hit. Physical exercise was not his forte.
Curious as to what had caused the glass to break everywhere, Sol started to walk around, trying to find the cause. What he stumbled upon was a strange fog covering the area. What is this? Could this be the source of the glass breaking? No, how could glass break because of fog? Well, regardless, it's creeping me out. Let's see if I can get rid of it. Sol thought to himself. Deciding that he rather disliked the creeping fog, Sol waved his staff at the fog and said, "Aero." With that, a blast of air, much more powerful than what he had used to catch Enyb with, was sent forth, blasting away what he could of the fog.
[Ölüm]
(Unfortunately, there is not a fleck of remorse within me.)
[Traverse Town : First District]
...fool
Ölüm had stopped spewing out the poisonous substance until it was a giant cube covering the square in First District. The cube rose high above the ground and could be seen from all points of the town. The substance was green and opaque which allowed for very little visibility and was dangerously poisonous if inhaled. At the center of it, dancing around in the fluid, was Ölüm without a care in the world.
The aero attack that occurred made ripples upon the cloud of gas, but didn't do much more as the poison had a mind of its own. It fought back to stay in place and did so with most success. Some of the gas was blown off of the cube but then reattached easily at a different point when the aero died down.
From inside the cloud, the man's voice was heard loud and clear.
"We begin!"
The sound of a whip cracking on the ground was heard, and the gassy substance exploded from its place and filled as much of Traverse Town as possible with a thin translucent layer of poisonous gas. Ölüm made it so there was much less visibility in the square than the rest of the world just for battle purposes.
Fog. No, green gas. Alex frowned at the gas cloaking the district. Someone behind her cast Aero, but it seemed to have no affect on the cube. Suddenly, a voice rang out clear and true. Alex pulled her sword from its scabbard as the cube exploded and covered the district. She looked around into the gas, trying to see if anyone was there.
"Something's going down..." she said to herself, sliding into a more fluid stance, and gripping her sword with both hands, the left arm having fully returned to normal. Whatever it was, it was gonna be big.
{You look like you fell down a tree and hit every possible branch on the way down.}
[Traverse Town :: First District]
"Seriously?" Suzu asked, exasperated as the glass shattered around her. She was really looking forward to dinner and now they were going to have to push it back again. Though the annoyance only lasted a split second for as soon as she saw the creeping poison she felt a little more worried. Suzu reached for her scythe, watching as the aero spell did virtually nothing but push the gas to a different location. So, trying to blow it away wasn't going to work but she knew that they needed a constant source of fresh air. Hopefully she could supply that, after all even with all the gas that was now encompassing the area it couldn't beat all the air in the sky.
"Tsukai: Wind Slash!" Suzu brought her scythe down in a circular motion, bringing in the air from atmosphere to blow around her small group. The geomancer looked to her twin to make sure he was still standing and in one piece before her violet eyes returned, trying to look for the source of the voice. "Maru, are you okay?"
[ Enyb ]
{Kweh...[Oh my...]}
[Traverse Town: First District]
"War?[Eh?]" The chocobo stopped, hearing some odd noise, before running around in a small circle, wings flapping wildly as he cried out. Oh, it hurt his ears a bit, but it scared him, too. It was so...unnatural.
Then glass shattered, and the noise seemed to stop. The chocobo relaxed for a minute, before noticing the gas cloud. More like catching wiffs of it.
It's not good for me, that much I can tell...Oh no! It's coming!
The chocobo ran around the side of the cafe, to where there were a LOT of humans, trying desperately to avoid the gas, and seeming to fail. So he did the next best thing. He started flapping his wings as he ran, sending small little gusts of wind around him to keep the gas at bay as he made for what seemed to be an air pocket created for the people of the eating place.
[Fal'Navi]
"...The shadows beckon."
[Wonderland::Queen of Heart's Courtyard]
Fal'navi continued walking along the concrete path, staring oddly at the hedges that made up the place. "...What a travesty of nature...Forcing these plants to be shaped. They should grow freely." He let out a scoff, then continued on his way deeper into the courtyard.
The Wrathful Dragon stopped suddenly, as an odd looking soldier stood in front of him. The soldier was flat as a piece of paper, was covered in hearts, and was wearing a heart shaped helmet.
"...Things are about to become much more interesting, I believe." Fal'navi chuckled, pulling the spear from his back very carefully.
[You aren't good enough for her... drop dead buddy]
[Traverse Town : First District]
They had just finished beating down on heartless just a bit ago, and when it was time to relax all the glass in the district broke. Kuu pushed back his chair in a quick response and called for his twin blades. While summoning the blades out, a giant cube of gas formed and soon exploded. He didn't trust it so he held his breath out until his sister gave them some air. He started to cough a bit for holding his breath, but he was feeling okay.
"I'm fine Suzu! Don't worry about me, worry about the enemies before us..." Kuu was not a very happy boy, especially when he didn't get his food because he actually had quite a huge appetite. "These aren't just your normal enemies, so be careful Suzu."
["..."]
[Castle Oblivion: Kitchen]
The masked man listened on to Vereor for the missions and he was assigned none. He was also not chosen to accompany either, so he just continued to sit there. He had nothing better to do anyways, but it was quite unfortunate for him not being able to go to worlds of without sunlight. He even began to wonder why such worlds would even exist, but maybe they were there for a reason. It mattered not to him, but what could he actually do in the castle. He really didn't like any of the other members, in fact he really only respected a few within the organization. He just continued to sit there and think about things until he had something else to do.
[Hefin]
{The blades don't lead to war, it's the soldier}
[Traverse Town : First District]
"Let's do this." Hefin slid his hands to the center of the hammer's handle, where it bulged out somewhat. He twisted each hand and then slid them to the opposite end of the handle; the bulge had unlocked and slid with his hands, revealing a pressure gauge that slowly started rising. A hissing sound could be heard from the head of the hammer as it started generating steam. His hands had to stay in this position to keep the boiler going, so he had to remain on the defensive.
He nearly lost it when he suddenly saw a bright green chocobo run towards them. It looked similar to the birds used for transporation on his homeworld, but he had never seen one in a colour other than yellow. He was even more startled to see that it seemed to be actively trying to help them by fanning the fog away. "Er, thanks?" he said to the chocobo, then focused back on getting his hammer charged. He was gonna need all the steam he could get.
