Emma Rae Summers Never say never. It might be the last thing you do. Emma drove back home, she ended up being about thirty minutes late. When she walked in the door her parents were sitting in the living room, staring blankly at the television.
"You're late. Its a school night." "Yeah, sorry." Her mom cut in, "No explaination?" "No, mother. I don't have a freaking explaination okay? Now, I'm tired and going to bed." The blonde started towards the stairs when her arm was caught between her dads firm grip. "Who have you been sneaking off to see all the time the past few months?" He whipped her around to face him. "I've been getting out of teh house dad. Like you bitched about me doing for ******** months, okay? And you still yell. What do you want from me?! I get good grades, I keep my s**t clean, I stay out of the house and I don't bother you guys. I keep my head down and act like the perfect freaking daughter, okay? What more do you want?"
Her dad stood there, unsure at first of what to say. But her mother chimed in. "Don't avoid the question. Who have you been out with?" She sniffed, "I can smell the ******** cigarette on you. I'm not an idiot." "And you know I don't smoke." She yanked her arm from her fathers hand. "Just friends. I can't control what they smoke and what they don't. Okay?" She trampled up the stairs and slammed her door.
Normally, her instant reaction would be to call Marco, but this time... "Diego?" The phone was at her ear and she was sitting on her bed, legs crossed, already in her pajamas.

d i e g o |x|x|a l e j a n d r o|x|x| s a n c h e z I won't do your drugs darlin'. I am your drug. Diego stayed in the driver's seat and finished his cigarette, flicking the end of it out of his fingers and onto the dirt ground. He climbed out of his seat and moved to the back of his truck, grabbing a worn cushion from behind one of the seats on the way and placing it on the floor of the truck. Lying down, he decided he wouldn't go home tonight, there'd be no point, he had an early shift at the scrapyard in the morning.
It wasn't like Diego's father would care he didn't come home. He didn't consider the guy his family, not like his extended family, like Marco and everyone. His dad was a drunk. A solitary man who rarely went out of the house, constantly feeling sorry for himself about his dead wife.
Diego didn't get it. Why couldn't he get over it and just talk. He was a kid and he even saw it happen, and he was fine. That's what he told himself anyway. Everyone in the village knew who they were, and what happened, which in a way is why they tolerated Diego's brash behaviour growing up. Made a joke out of it, accepted him as their surrogate son, and loved him to make up for it.
His phone started vibrating loudly on the metal floor of the truck. Diego lifted his head and grabbed at his phone. "..Emma?"

Emma Rae Summers Never say never. It might be the last thing you do. "Diego, I know its late, I'm sorry.. I just.. yeah, its Emma. Sorry." Emma had gotten herself together enough to call him, but once she started talking she started crying again.
"I came home and my parents were all over my case.. they obviously don't know about me and Marco and so I have to lie constantly and... and they were freaking out and I just can't ******** take it anymore." She was standing up now, tears streaming down her face.
"I hate them for what they're doing to me. They make me sick, I'm never enough. Hell, why do they think that I was ever ******** anorexic in the first place?!" She clamped her hand over her mouth instantly, forgetting that Diego and everyone else in Marco's family didn't know about her little issue.
Only Marco had known, and anytime she would pass up food or pick around at it, he'd be on her case about it. But Diego, Diego didn't know her problems. "I mean.. I have to go." She clicked the phone shut and leaned against her wall. <********> What the hell was she thinking? Letting out her secrets like that? To Diego of all people!

d i e g o |x|x|a l e j a n d r o|x|x| s a n c h e z I won't do your drugs darlin'. I am your drug. Diego didn't say anything as she began an immediate upset rant about her parents.
Damn. He didn't realise her life was so shitty. He raised his eyebrow at the last part of her outburst. Anorexic?
Diego looked down at his screen after she hurriedly clicked off, and bit the inside of his lip as he tried to decide on what to do. He climbed back into the drivers seat and turned on the engine then started driving into the city.
He probably wasn't thinking straight. Okay, scratch that, he definitely wasn't thinking straight, but when did he ever?
Diego dialed her number, but it went straight to the answering machine, typically. He had seen Marco drive her home a couple of times and heard him describing where she lived to his aunt, and figured from that information he pretty much knew the way to her street or near-abouts, he thought, but that was it.
Slightly on the stalker side, but what did he care.
It didn't take him long to find the street he thought it was, and he drove around to the road directly behind the houses, and slowed down to a crawling pace as he tried to look out for Emma's car. He came to a quiet and slow stop as he recognized a car, half sure it was hers, half not. He stopped opposite it and looked up at the house it was in front of.
Diego dialed her number again and climbed out to the back of his truck and stood up, trying to peer into windows, though as discreetly as one could. It went straight to the answer message again, but this time he spoke. "Uh, Go to your window for a bit, por favor?" he said, looking up at the windows of a house, wondering if he'd get anything.

Emma Rae Summers Never say never. It might be the last thing you do. When Diego had called back she instantly hit the ignore button. Which would send him to her voicemail, but he called back soon after that.
Emma hadn't moved from her spot on the floor by her window, which was the only light on in the house, towards the back of the house that is.
But he called back and she sent it right back the voicemail. Why did he keep calling? Then it buzzed again and she was ready to turn the damn thing off when she saw that it was a voicemail. God dammit. She wanted to erase it instantly but she ended up listening to it. He wanted her to go to her window?
Uhhh.. Emma slowly stood up, her blonde hair tied in a messy bun on top of her head, she poked it between her curtains and looked around. She saw nothing, because Diego was in the front yard, granted she didn't know this.
She typed out a message, knowing she couldn't keep her voice from sounding like she had been crying. Why?

d i e g o |x|x|a l e j a n d r o|x|x| s a n c h e z I won't do your drugs darlin'. I am your drug. Diego read the text and groaned, deciding that this was in fact a terrible idea.
Because I can't tell whether I'm outside the right house or not. Why else.
He texted back, his blunt tone oh-so-clearly translated through the message. "Ugh." Diego muttered to himself. Giving up, and climbing back into the front seat.
Forget it. He told himself. He didn't even know what he would say anyway.
Stupid impulses.
Diego gave another quick look around before turning the key in the ignition, he cursed at the engine as it revved promisingly then gave in. He tried again, betting this was karma chewing up his a**.

Emma Rae Summers Never say never. It might be the last thing you do. Emma recieved the text and before she could reply she heard an engine revving outside. Ah, s**t. Really? He was at her house?! The neighboors would have a field day with this one. s**t s**t s**t. Was he crazy?!
Stupid question.
Emma grabbed a small jacket and wrapped it around her red-tank top clad body before tip toeing through the house and turning off the alarm to get out the front door. She ran over to his car and banged on the window. "Are you ******** crazy?!" She whisper-yelled. Her eyes were probably shining in the moonlight, her tear streaked cheeks red as ever.
"You're going to get me in so much trouble!"

d i e g o |x|x|a l e j a n d r o|x|x| s a n c h e z I won't do your drugs darlin'. I am your drug. Diego gave up and let go of the key, deciding to let the engine cool, he was making enough noise as it was.
He grabbed a stick of gum from his pocket and threw it into his mouth. As the engine came to a silence there was a bang at his window. He rolled it down at looked at Emma, half surprised to see her there, but with his usual cocked eyebrow look taking over.
His eyes ran over her, wearing pyjamas and a jacket over the top. He looked at her, then at the house behind her. So this was her prison. Diego looked back at her, and shrugged.
"Then go back inside. I'm waiting for it to cool." he said bluntly, nodding towards the engine and breaking their eye contact.

Emma Rae Summers Never say never. It might be the last thing you do. Emma folded her arms between her chest and stomach and sighed as he rolled the window down, telling her to go back inside. "Right." She shook her head, shivering a bit in her shorts.
See, she had gained back a good chunk of her weight, especially with eating at Marco's so much, but she was still pretty tiny and got cold rather easily, even in this nice weather.
Emma walked around and climbed into his car, sliding in the passengers seat. "Why'd you come here?" Around Diego, she felt as though she was on top of the world. Like, being with him made her that much more confident and she wasn't afraid anymore- Of anything.

d i e g o |x|x|a l e j a n d r o|x|x| s a n c h e z I won't do your drugs darlin'. I am your drug. Diego rolled his eyes at her persistence and watched as she walked around the car and got in the passengers seat.
"I don't know." He leant one arm on the top of his open window and stared at the specs of rain that had begun to lightly fall on the windscreen. Diego turned to look at her and gave her something of a sorry frown, or concerned? He didn't know. He usually didn't have another layer.
"Look," he started, noticing her dried tear streaks down her face and her reddened eyes. Diego sighed and looked away for a second, before meeting her stare. "Believe it or not, I don't want you to get into trouble, so go." he said trying to sound as cold as he used to. It was probably better when they had the hate thing going on.

Emma Rae Summers Never say never. It might be the last thing you do. Emma was not having any of that 'i don't know' s**t. There was a reason dammit and she wanted him to say it. But when she noticed him looking at her face, studying it for a moment she had to look away. She knew she looked like hell, scary without the makeup and the glam. And surely the reddness and puffyness didn't help at all.
"Don't tell me what to do. I turned off the alarm, I have time. And you're going to tell me why the hell you drove out here. Its not as if you had any need to. I spilled my beans and I shouldn't have. But what do you care, right? You're not my boyfriend."

d i e g o |x|x|a l e j a n d r o|x|x| s a n c h e z I won't do your drugs darlin'. I am your drug. Diego grit his teeth at her lack of cooperation.
"Why did you call me?" he threw back at her. She wanted to play it like this? He could do that. None of this chivalry, girl is always right crap, he could be just as damn hard-headed. "I'm not your boyfriend." he added, repeating her own phrase, trying a little to not make it sound too mocking.
"Why do you think I came here?!" he whisper-shouted, almost forgetting that she had to be in stealth mode. Getting frustrated with the situation and her in such close proximity to him, he let out something of an angry quiet groan before getting out of his own car and kicking at the ground. It took a lot not to slam the door. Which is something he almost always did in a rage.
He sighed and shook his head, beginning to pace a little as the rain got heavier. He placed his hand down on the hood of his truck, trying to feel the heat of the engine, hoping there would be none.

Emma Rae Summers Never say never. It might be the last thing you do. Emma was pissed. She hated when guys did this s**t. Of course, Diego was always like this. And it didn't surprise her, it challanged her if anything. "You didn't answer my ******** question so why the hell should I answer yours?"
Her hand was clenching the side of the door as he whisper-shouted back at her. "I don't ******** know why you came here! Thats what I'm trying to ******** figure out!" Of course, her whispering was not very good and she bit down on her lip to remind herself that she had to hush up or she was eternally screwed.
Diego left the car and stepped into the rain, which was nearing pouring at this point. Of course, Emma followed him, stomping around to his side of the car. She stepped in front of him, his hand still on the hood of his car. "Tell me Diego, why did you come here, huh?" Emma had to look up at him since he was at least five plus inches taller than her. The water was falling down all over them, soaking their clothes. And she had to speak up a bit over the crackling sound of nature around them.

d i e g o |x|x|a l e j a n d r o|x|x| s a n c h e z I won't do your drugs darlin'. I am your drug. Diego looked back at the house, searching for any evidence of moment from the inside but decided with the noise of the rain now almost thundering down through the city they were pretty much safe. He turned and Emma was in front of him, once again demanding she give him answers.
What the hell was her problem? Did she need to to be ******** spelt out?
"I care about you Emma, thats why!" he shouted, trying to beat the sound of the rain, not giving a damn who would hear this time. It wasn't his fault if she got into trouble now, he had told her to go back inside.
"Don't you get it?-" He half shouted again, looking down at her, the two of them getting more and more soaked from the rain. His hair was drenched, his thin shirt now soaked straight through and his face cold with droplets of rain dripping down at points.
This was a ridiculous situation.
"I care!-" He carried on. Diego tried to say it in a way that she would just understand, and that would need no further explanation. He didn't want to say what he was feeling just like that. Since, oddly enough, he didn't particularly like offering out his balls to get kicked. Emma Rae Summers Never say never. It might be the last thing you do. Emma stopped dead in her tracks. She stood there, staring at Diego as he shouted at her. The rain and thunder was crashing around them, the wind swished through his hair, ruffling his dark, now wet, locks. "You what?" He continued on, shouting it to the world, he cared about her. He cared.
"You're Diego ******** Sanchez. You don't care. You don't care about anyone but yourself!" He said it again, he cared. Her eyes looked up into his, locking on them. Her heart was soaring and she couldn't stop herself from donig what she did next.
Emma moved forward, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him down to her. She kissed him deeper and with more passion than ever.
The rain was soaking their bodies now as she pressed her back to his car and yanked him to her. She couldn't help it, she felt ... Well, this felt right.
