He thought to Zelda, 'Nothing princess, don't worry. Another kid here doesn't trust me... actually, he just plain out wants to kill me.' Shadow stood up, his hat tied around his bleeding leg, he did not draw his sword or even his shield, he had no intention to fight back. After all he was not being told to, so he had no reason to. He looked at him with a hint of sadness. He thought to Zelda again, 'You're right...I don't have to be loyal to the darkness...I was just told to...' He looked down to the amulet he wore that contained the princesses soul, he frowned in anger and yanked it off his neck. Then he snapped his fingers and Zelda's shell appeared beside him, he placed the amulet around her neck, and chanted something under his breath, and the amulet glowed brightly before cracking and disappearing. Shadow smiled and crouched beside her, he placed his hand on her forehead and chanted again. This time, a faint light could be seen entering her body. Shadow removed his hand and spoke quietly to her, "Princess...can you hear me? I've broken free...and so have you."

Shadow caught a glimpse of Link dashing towards him, he attempted to avoid his attack, but he wasn't quite quick enough. Now pinned on his back, Shadow was unable to draw his sword or shield, even if he had wanted to. He did as much as he could to block the shield attacks, he held his arms out in a position somewhat like that of shield, blocking the attacks. As Link brought his arm back to bash Shadow with his shield again, Shadow kicked him lightly in the stomach, causing Link to fall back onto the ground, off of Shadow, but without actually hurting him. Shadow frowned and stood up, he looked to Link and spoke with a soft tone, "I am not your enemy. I'm aware you're trying to protect the princess, but in hurting me, you only stray farther from that goal." he walked over to Link calmly and held out his hand to help him get up.

Daniel had arrived just in time to see the flash of light of the cursed amulet being broken. And he was confused.
Most Shadows like Dark Link not only didn't have enough power to break a curse as powerful as the one he had felt on that amulet. And also most shadows were mindless puppets or had little intelligence let a lone enough to defy their maker.
Daniel Silently applauded Dark Link from his hiding place in the bush and simply waited.
Daniel needed to wait for him to come close enough for Daniel to sense his origin.

Link stared at the shadow. If you can pass a simple test I'll give you a chance. You must fight me and win. First man injured loses. He stated as he handed Shadow a sword and drew his own sword.

Shadow looked at Link with slight surprise, he though to himself, 'He's challenging me? Hpmh, I accept. However...' Shadow looked at the sword Link handed to him. He had a blank emotion as he looked at it and spoke to him, "You want me...to use this?" he looked back up at him.

Link thought for a moment before unstrapping his own sword and handing it to shadow. "you use this and I'll use the other sword. The one you have now was crafted by biggoron." he said

(( Alright, my name is officially Shadow now, not Dark. ))

Shadow still had a blank emotion, "Why are you giving me a sword to use? I have my own, you know." he had no hint of anger or anything other than a bit of confusion to his voice as he said this. He handed the sword back to Link and drew his own sword.

Shadow dodged Link's attack by rolling and coming up behind him. He then swung his sword at Link's back.
