Lol i'm glad i'm Atheist because all of the BS i've read is getting out of hand. DOWN WITH CONFORMING! >xD
I'm against it personally but not because it's hurting a living being.
I've had miscarriages and they suck.
I wouldn't be able to handle an abortion emotionally and I also wouldn't be able to handle adoption emotionally. When I got pregnant we did consider all of our options. I asked him for his opinion and considered it. We ended up deciding to keep the baby, ended up finding out that there were 3 lol. Then the day after we found out I was having triplets, we lost them.
With that said, there are so many women that have babies and don't deserve them. You may have met one of those women. Hell, you may have seen one of them even. But i'd rather them not have that child if they're going to potentially hurt it.
So, while I wouldn't personally do it, if any other woman want's to do it, thats her personal choice. Same thing goes for adoption. Though with adopting, I find it a little hard to picture a woman carrying a child for 9 months and after feeling that little flutter, be able to give it up in the blink of an eye.
Another thing I want to point out- By age 20 all women(if you've had sex without a condom) has had at LEAST one miscarriage in their life. Why do I say this? ([women only] oh and you don't have to answer, just think to yourself smile ) Have you ever had a really bad period? one with intense abdominal craps, heavy bleeding and heavy clotting?? Well, that was probably a miscarriage. Don't really put much thought into it, it happens all the time =/
I didn't mean to hurt anyones feelings with this post. I just wanted to get in on this, it seems like an interesting topic. smile
Also, yes abortions use vacuums and such to take the fetus out of the uterus but the same thing happens when you have a miscarriage. It's called a D&C. AND there is NO fetal heartbeat until your 7th week of pregnancy. Even then it may be too early to hear the heartbeat. By 8 weeks you're too late to have an abortion.

My personal stand on abortion is complicated by personal experience.
I believe that each woman has the right to make that choice on her own based on her morals. But I personally only think abortion is the answer when the life of the mother is at stake or when violence, rape, or incest are involved. It seems like a matter of personal responsibility to me, if you are mature enough to have sex than you should be mature enough to think of the consequences, which isn't always the case.
It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it matters what the woman involved thinks and feels, it is her guilt and pain, or lack thereof, that counts.
I couldn't do it, I know that for a fact because I was faced with that decision after a violent rape. Because of my own experience I am a firm believer in adoption. From my suffering came a beautiful baby and the overwhelming happiness of a couple who couldn't have a child biologically.
But, it is different for everyone. Who am I to impose my morals on anyone else.

Cute Evil Taco: I think it's inaccurate to say that by age 20 every woman that's had sex without a condom will have experienced at least one miscarriage. I'll be 20 soon, and I've actually never had a bad period. I barely even get cramps. And then there are the women who are infertile and may never have children, and possibly never a miscarriage. Also, our nearby abortion center does abortions up until the due date pretty much, with a doctor's recommendation (ie if it's a really bad pregnancy and may be life threatening). They have it listed as medical abortions until 9 weeks, and only surgical abortions are available after that time. 23 weeks and later require a doctor's recommendation.
Essencecry: I'm proud of you, you're very strong. I couldn't have gone through with it. And I appreciate you not wanting to force your morals on others.

Thank you. It was, without a doubt, the hardest decision I ever made.
