With one glance, it was blatantly obvious why Kishuna had ensured Amelia wouldn't see this crime scene. Sprayed across the room was a splatter of blood; this was not from the corpse, however. This was animal blood; the source of which was also obvious. In the middle of the blood-splattered room was the body of a woman; the woman had been placed on her hands and knees, nails driven through the wrists and kneecaps to ensure she stayed in place. Like the previous two, she had been split open from just above the groin up her chest; but it seemed this wasn't exactly necessary. The organs that had previously been inside her body were now draped around the room; the intestines almost resembled crepe used for streamers at celebratioons. This seemed to be held up by more wire, wrapped around each portion and held to the ceiling by needles. But, this was not the worst part.

In front of the woman's face dangled her heart. Theoretically, this was to indicate that she could see it; the only problem with this theory was that the young woman had no eyes anymore. They had been plucked from their sockets and were nowhere to be found; this seemed to be what the killer had taken with him this time, perhaps as a souveneir. But the last fact was the worst - this would be the main reason Kishuna had said no woman should see it. The woman, on her knees, had her skirt up above her waist; behind her, a dog had been placed, its body ripped to shreds, in an extremely obscene posture, as if it were violating her body. In its mouth was clenched what seemed to be the next note; however, this one was in an envelope. The one who picked up the envelope would read the following words; "Do not open this yet. Turn around first."

Where ever I wander, where ever I roam,
There's only one place I'll ever call 'home'

The Magic Swordman Master Lord, Roy

User Image

Roy was close enough to catch bits and pieces of the conversation, and it seemed they had discovered someone close to one of the Watch Members involved with the murders. The others had hurried in. Something about...behind the night owl. He glanced up at the logo on the tavern. It wasn't just a tavern: it was a brothel as well. He sighed, then waited for the Watch to go in before following.

He took a step forward, then paused. A chill had run down his spine earlier as he followed the Watch, and it had done so again just now. Someone was following them. He ducked back into the shadows once he went inside. The follower would most likely come in after him, and he could catch them by surprise. As long as he knew where the Watch was headed, he could afford to stall for a few minutes to catch the stalker.

The young lord waited for Mel to come through.

Melethia saw the Watch go into the back. That must had been where Tura did his lastest kill. She needed to get the red-haired lord out of her way. She didn't want to Elfire him though. It would draw focus to her. So she went after Roy and had a book in her hand. If Melethia had to resort to a book being a weapon, so be it. She was ready to hit Roy in the face with it, besides she was wanting to hit Roy with a book anyway for almost losing the Watch a few times.

The goriest, most intense murders of the old days that had been... grotesquely recreated in black and white photographs to be shown to those of officer rank in the Watch so they wouldn't be spooked of them. They were shown things that no civilian, no low-rank should ever even think about... no... they were things that no man should think about.

But it didn't stop officers from being human. (Nor fearing nightmares that showed faces of those they loved in those situations), and it didn't stop officers from feeling the human emotions of disgust towards the one twisted enough to pull things off in such a way (the fear of this gore was what they were trained to brave through), to do this to a woman and man's best friend, inexcusable! Unforgivable!

"Says t' turn 'round... wha' for..." Leon was not scared, he wasn't anxious either... but being cautious never hurt anyone. While turning around, he had his hand instinctively on his poleaxe's handle, ready to draw it forward if necessary.

It was good Anri was left outside again (like he'd fit!), or the war horse's instincts for battle would have most definitely been charged after seeing this dastardly act.

Quite obviously, there was nobody present behind the Watch members. That would be far too easy. In fact, it looked like there was nothing there at all; why had the note even said that? But if one looked closer, the blood smeared on the back of the door was different from the rest. It seemed to have a pattern to it; though from this angle it was a bit hard to see what it was. One would have to close the door just a bit, or go around it to see the words written there. But, once one did, there were written only three simple words, though ones that would strike a chill into the spine were the meaning realized.

"You missed one."

And at that very moment, a horrendous scream echoed down the streets, coming from the other side of town; the side that had been mostly emptied of Watch who had followed to see what had happened.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 17, 2009 9:03 pm

Javert just stared blankly around the room, taking it all in. Horror, horror everywhere. Complete... depravity as far as the eye could see. It was... well, quite a sudden shock. Not only had they completely missed the boat, they'd been LED here. This felt like... the worst practical joke Javert had ever experienced in his life. This was a slap in the face to the Watch, saying, "Ha ha, you can't catch me and I can kill at will". This was just... so utterly WRONG tha--

But before Javert could find bile rising in his throat...

"WHERE IS HE!?"

Javert snapped out of his reverie and turned around to find Jin standing in the doorway. But Jin didn't seem to care for the "decorations", his eyes were livid with rage, and he was scanning the room clearly for someone else, his grip tight on his staff.

"...Where is who?" Javert asked, confused. He didn't like sounding stupid, but between stupid and horrified beyond belief, stupid was by far the lesser of two evils.

"...Nothing," the Priest said, forcing himself to remain calm.

...And then he saw the blood. And the corpses. And the not quite that bloodied envelope.

"He's got to be around here somewhere," the Priest growled, turning for the door.

"HEY. Tura's not here. We've--been duped. Played like chumps, if you will," Javert said, feeling some anger as well at all this. It was one thing to murder someone; but do all THIS? Like it was some sort of TRIUMPH!? Javert for a brief moment felt as though he just wanted to hurt someone. Anyone. Very badly. See how THEY liked it when THEY tried to do something right, and your opponent just made you feel like you were an insignificant little WORM.

...Inwardly, Javert thanked the apparently not-quite-thinking-straight Priest for his appearance; it gave the Halberdier the ability to focus on other things. Plus it would be highly unprofessional to lose his cool now. Where would blind anger get him? Nowhere.

Preferring to look at the ground, Javert gingerly reached a hand out...

"Yerrr aimin' ferr the gel's BUTT, Javert," a more slurred voice said. Ghis' hand reached for the ENVELOPE, and grabbed it from the dead dog's maw. "WATCH! ...Wherre yer aimin'."

A spare flask lying at the back door meant that Ghis had his own way of dealing with what Javert realized in the situation. ...Another one at the front door was just emergency preparations.

"...WORDS!" Ghis barked, a bit more angry than he should be. "Bu' wha' do they mean? Ye got t' wake up PRETTY AIRLY i' th' mornin' t' use WORDS!"

He DID, however, turn around.

So had Javert, but the other man was paying more attention to Jin's outburst than anything else.

Ghis was more into the "looking around" activity.

You missed one.

The words hung over like a taunting jest, poking all the right nerves to make anyone just want to scream in a fit of rage. But now wasn't the time, and nor was it the place.

There was a scream, a cry for help. That didn't mean that they were dead yet, and being mounted, Leon could make it down that length of street in no time flat.

"We dun' have time to be hangin' 'round 'ere, les' follow tha' scream now!" The Lieutenant shouted to this two comrades whom were at the moment doing the same thing as he was, trying to keep their heads on straight. Leon now drew his poleaxe from his belt, in his right hand and fully ready to be swung.

O' Mighty Hero Anri, please dun' let us be too late.

Seconds passed, and Leon was out of the grotesque scene and onto his horse, still armed now. "Anri, forward!" he ordered.

The steed went thundering in the scream's direction.

Amelia startled to her feet as her fellow Watchmen began to shout within the room. Curiosity tugged at her to investigate and see why they were screaming like this--or why Jin seemed so enraged--but before she could look in, there was a piercing scream from across the city. Amelia's blood ran cold, eyes widening.

"No... No!" Amelia shrieked.

She had forgotten her lance; she had dropped it at the entrance to the tavern. She ignored it as she began to sprint. Anri easily caught up to her and passed her on her path towards the scream, but Amelia didn't slow. She just kept sprinting, wearing the panic on her sleeve. Someone's dying someone's dying hang on we're coming! Amelia's thoughts came jostled and frenetic, unable to keep any of them clear, or in full sentences. Panic does that to a person.

"There..... finished." Isadora said as she looked at the table. The table was neatly cleaned with some of the files and paper stacking up. Now all she needed to do was place the files back where it belonged and go to bed. Isadora felt a breeze blew in.

"Oh, dear. I nearly forgot I've left the window opened." Isadora remembered as she went to the window. She didn't want the study room to be cold, despite that it was still summer. The paladin grabbed the handle of the window. But before she could close it, she heard a sudden scream in the city. A chill shiver went down her spine.

Oh, no..... Isadora thought as she backed away from the window. Don't tell me it's Tura's work again.

Isadora grabbed her sword and shield. She sprinted out of the study room and ran down the hallway, never care if she made the running noise of her armor to wake the people in the castle. She would deal with the papers left in the study room and the noise problem later. She had to get to the scene of the crime. She knew that it must be Tura trying to commit another murder. But would she make it in time to save the victim?...

.......

Riding down the street, Isadora snapped the reins to make Tuomas ran faster. She clung her legs tightly around her horse's waist, trying to keep herself steady and not falling. The paladin didn't have enough time to saddle her horse. She would have sore legs and bottom later on. The paladin wondered how did people who rode their horses barebacked do this. However, she had no time to think about that. There was a scream and she had to investigate.

Isadora sometime stopped to ask the Watch guards where the location of the scream was heard. In addition, she was sometime stopped by the guards due to the curfew rule. However, she had permission to go through since she was crew member of the FEF guild.

With the direction that the guards informed her where they heard the scream, Isadora rode off. She prayed that the victim was still alive if she or the guards made it.

Ghis frowned, staring up at the bloody words even as the scream pierced the night. Oh, he knew all too well what that meant--someone else was more or less torn apart, usual envelope-type note, blah blah blah. But he'd seen Leon get on a horse--the Lieutenant would reach the scene well before anyone else here did. Even Amelia (High-strung, that gerl) didn't have a prayer of catching up.
He looked around. The alcohol managed to dull the shock enough so that he was still able to stand in the room and look around. Blood and guts as far as the eye could see. Ghis vaguely wondered if it might just be easier to burn the tavern to the ground, rather than attempt to clean this up. This was the sort of murder scene that ghost stories were made of.

The envelope was still in his armored hand, but he couldn't read it. Javert (who was busy throwing up outside now) didn't seem to be in the state of mind to do so. That just left Fireman, who apparently decided that being too angry to care much about the scene the first time meant that he should consider himself lucky and not go back in. Ghis had enough sobriety left in him to understand that much. Trudging up to the Priest, he simply handed Fireman the envelope. "Read".

Jin's reading of the note would be quite useless at this point. For, there was only one word written upon it - "Wait." There would be another note, soon. . . why else would there have been screaming? Once that note was touched, only then would this note show anything; for one note was not worth anything without the other. They were meant to be taken together.

The scene had already gathered a few horrified onlookers; though curfew WAS in effect, when a murder occurs outside your door, and a scream follows, loud enough to hurt your ears, it is quite hard to resist taking a look. And one look was certainly enough for some; they had turned and begun emptying the contents of their stomachs onto the street nearby. This corpse was much simpler than the rest; a young man, nailed to the wall; a nail in each hand, one in each foot, and one through the center of his chest. The limbs, however, were no longer attached to the torso; simply attached with string so they wouldn't swing free. The gap was clearly evident, however. The stomach had been slashed open, once again, and though a loop of intestine draped to the ground, the majority of the guts were notably missing.

Said killer was taking his time; in fact, he wanted to visit someone again before he left. Said person was already on a horse, heading for the second crime scene. The Assassin was waiting, however. As the horse passed by below his spot on the roof, he dropped onto it behind his target - the Lady Isadora, once again. His knife was to her throat in a flash, and his voice was calm and smooth when he spoke. "I'd like to have a conversation with you, milady. Kindly turn off into one of these alleys. I wouldn't especially like to kill you, but I will if I must."

Leon had arrived at the scene, noticing that it had made quite the gathering now. So many people outside, and the one he tried to save was already gone...

The Lieutenant muttered a curse. Another one, snap the fingers, gone. It felt like no matter how elaborate and even... in a twisted way, artistic these scenes turned out to be, they were done quickly and in a way where the criminal left behind no footprints by which to track him. Maybe there was more than one man, or maybe there was one that wasn't a man at all. It was something... that wasn't human. R'member tha' guild's ann'vers'ry now!? Them Heroes, them Morphs, tha' Loki ain't human! Now ya let yer guard down thinkin' this 'sassin be a man, don't kid yerself! 'E's gotta be somethin' more.. so step it up an' find 'im!

With the feeling that he'd grossly underestimated Tura, Leon just couldn't help but feel a tad bit overwhelmed. Since when did the paranormal suddenly decide to keep haunting his homeland? Maybe Loki wasn't gone after all.

No time t' be thinkin' that...

"A'right, ya guys." Leon addressed the small crowd that had gathered, before looking behind him. "First o' all.. no 'un else's 'llowed, ya got it? Good. Second..." he eyed them all, trying to not sound forceful, or he'd be just like those idiot recruits, trying to take on a mob single handedly. He knew by now that since he hadn't heard Ghis or Javert following him that he was indeed doing this solo until the proper back-up arrived. "Who saw it, who 'eard it? I want answers, one o' ya cried out, and it sure ain't that fella, 'e's dead!"

When Amelia finally arrived, Leon was shouting at the people surrounding the corpse of the murdered, nailed against the wall. Amelia tried to draw in a deep lungful of air, but as soon as her eyes truly took in the murder scene, she found herself unable to breathe. Her stomach flipped over, her face paled and tinged green, and she doubled over to heave on the cobblestones.

"H-Hells bells..." Amelia mumbled, hands shaking as she rubbed her mouth. She used her other hand to push her hair off of her face. Leon was still attempting crowd control; she could hear women shrieking and crying, men shouting and screaming out their disgust. She could feel her hands shaking--Kishuna's appearance, the two murders, and finding all of these people at the murder site wasn't doing a lot for her to stay calm--as she walked over to Leon. She turned her eyes up to him, then at the crowd.

Her voice was a little shaky as she shouted, but Amelia stood next to Leon and attempted to help him by adding in her own two cents. "Hey! I'm pretty sure that a standing Watch officer just asked you all something, so calm down! If you didn't see anything and came after the fact, disperse! Get back to your homes! We are under curfew, after all! Go on, go on! We're going to handle things!" Amelia offered a small smile and put her hands on her hips. She didn't want to seem rude, but... sometimes hysterics deserved it. "If you saw anything concerning the act being committed, we'd like to speak to you, or if you know anything of the deceased that we can use to track down the killer or determine his motive, please!"

Leon had to admit that he was pleasantly surprised on how quickly Amelia was able to get in the mindset to say the all the necessary requests (and brave ones at that) towards a crowd of panicking civilians. His subordinate had learned well, as he had taught her well... it was just one of the many qualities that made Dan's Lieutenant proud of her.

He did notice that already, the crowd was dispersing. It was a relief that they at least wouldn't turn to violence, like those under question often did, but... to again be left clueless was starting to get irritating at best. Sleepless, clueless, restless. That's all this scene had left Leon, but at least he was with a friend he'd come to know.

"Tha's pretty quick work, 'Melia." He praised, a small smile on his face that would have never otherwise formed had he been alone. "I di'n't have 'ny clue ya were followin' me neither, for a sec, I though' I be doin' this crazy job o' quellin' 'em on m' own. An' them words o' yers... strong. Gettin' th' hang o' this, aren't ya?"

Shortly after speaking, the smile was gone as his head turned to the corpse nailed on the wall. "They all be so quick, 'Melia... either they 'ad it planned since f'ever, or he ain't human... this 'un."

The thundering hooves were pounding against the cobblestoned streets as Isadora rushed through to get to the scene of the next crime. She saw some citizens opened their windows and doors, curious of whether there was another murder. The paladin had no time to give orders to the citizens to go back what they were doing. The Watch guards would do it for her. Right now, she had to see what Tura had done.

Isadora was few blocks away from the scene. What gory scene and clues did he leave behind? The paladin prayed that the victim had not died. However, she knew in the pit of her stomach that the victim was already killed. What good would that do for carrying false hope?

Before she could get to the scene, she felt a weight landed behind her on top of Tuomas. Isadora stopped her horse. Before she could turn around and draw her sword, a knife was placed near her throat.

"Tura!" Isadora cried. She figured it was the crazed assassin. Who else would try to surprise her from behind when there was a murder committed? But why would he come to her? Didn't the assassin know that the Watch and herself were looking for him after committing few crimes?

The paladin had her answer. Tura wanted to talk to her. But what was there to talk about? They both knew that he was the murderer and it was hers and the Watch's job to stop him. However, there are some questions that Isadora needed to know. She needed to know what was Tura's motives. She needed to know why she was needed in this investigation. What would he do to her afterwards?

Tura said he wouldn't kill her unless he was forced to. So it seemed that she would be spared if she did what he told her. Anger formed inside her. Isadora would have Tuomas buckled Tura off his back and she would try to stop him. However, with no saddle to secure her sit and a knife under her chin, the paladin had no choice.

I guess I have to see the crime scene later on. Isadora thought bitterly as she urged her steed to ride into the long, narrow, and dark alley. If she had missed the scene, she would ask the Watch what had happened. She knew that the Watch would be there on the crime scene.

As they reached in the center of the alley, Isadora stopped her horse. She wanted to turn around and looked straight at Tura with her loathed look. But with the knife near her neck, she didn't dare move. Not letting Tura start the conversation and headed straight to the point, Isadora spoke in her stern tone. "Why are you doing this?"
