He burst forward, pounding his wings hard and fast, feet tucked tightly under him and neck bent to minimize wind resistance. "As you wish..."

As soon as he could no longer see her, she dropped like a stone. She lost altitude until her tail was wholly submerged to the base. then her wings pumped harder then ever, and her tail pushed her through the water, turning what was dead weight in the air, into extra, pardon the pun here, horse power. She gave a cry of delight as she powered ahead, the wind taking her hair and dancing it behind her like a flag. Now *THIS* was fun. Winning would just be the kelp on the cake. And she did so love Kelp.

He struggled to keep up, falling behind miserably. When he could no longer see her, he dove down lower to the water and chanted a spell to call the wind. He could take a small break and catch his breath while gliding toward the land.

When the shore was in sight, she grunted. The was always the hard part. She forced her wings to pump three times extra hard, while she brought her tail up to her body. She grunted as she cleared the water then maneuvered, Landing on land was still not a skill she had mastered. Her left leg buckled sending her tumbling, rolling about until she was half back in the water, her nose and one leg submerged, her wings under her as she lay on her back, tail off to the side, other leg bent against her. She made an indicate snort of irritation and embarrassment.

Nightfire came to her side as quickly as he could, helping her up. "Ah. Now it seems you are now in need of my aid..."

She lifted her head from the water and tried, without success, to untangle herself from her wings. "I hate landings," she muttered.

"Allow me. Leviticis!" He waved his hoof and raised her off of the ground.

"O...oh. Right." she worked on righting herself, suspended in the air, as she was. It was an odd sensation.

She trembled slightly until she felt the beach under her again. She tested the leg she landed on gingerly. Sore, but it would hold. "Thanks," she said, flushing darkly.

"Your leg is sore?" He gathered some herbs that he had had nearby and made a poultice, "For your leg, to take the swelling down and the soreness out."

"It's nothing." He began to apply liberal amounts of poultice to her leg. "And to think you are blushing so and I have not even begun to thank you as I wished to..."
