I'm not entirely familiar with that era. Its considered New Republic?
The Dark Empire

They were based off of Byss, and were the last core following of Emperor Palpatine, following his first death. He ends up getting clones and killed several times, but he managed to unite the Empire one final time.

Following this, what's left of the Empire is in warlord-mode, attacking each other for more territory and ships.
So I read, this does seem to fit in quite well with our plans. Though I cant see why a Warlord would be very hesitant to atempt to occupy an undeclared sector, even with the New Republic on its doorstep. Makes him either smart or a p***y.

Yep

Plus, if we span it there, it gives us more Jedi, some Dark Jedi, enough warlords for those of us aspiring to get what we want, the outlaws are making a comeback.

The Republic has some new ships (E and K wings), the Empire has new hardware, everyone wins.

what do you mean by that? You asked if merc squads were available. all i did was say yes, and one of the most commonly needed out there.

@ elvis: If you work for me, you can smuggle my weapons with K.
Sounds good to me. And if I make a second character, he'll probably be a sector ranger...

Sector Rangers go totally under appreciated in Star wars.
I mean, seriously! Space Cops! Thats pretty cool, right?

Also, the Sector Rangers can cross political boundaries in pursuit of criminals, one of the few groups who can do so freely without drawing attention from the New Republic or Empire.

Dark Empire? I personally really dislike that era. Massive droid armies being fielded, the appearance of the largest classes of Imperial starships, the empire getting a superweapon every week.

I don't think it really that coincides with the "quiet sector" being set alight by terrorism type plot. Plus, by Dark Empire I don't think there are many neutral worlds left for either side to try and pull in. Either we set it several years after that or before that, because Dark Empire is the one era in the New Republic of a Total War being waged by each side.

Valid point. It does kinda sound more like a Clone Wars-era setting.

Just because it's an era doesn't mean it has to set the tone though.

The sector just wasn't the main focus of the rest of the galaxy. Even if it does have a clone wars feeling to it, it's not /the/ clone wars. Although, if you wish to consider any potential new recruits, it might be just familiar enough to be fun, yet foreign enough to keep us interested.

I like the idea of using the Dark Empire time line for the rp, and not just because I have the comics as well as the RPG book.
Palps shenanigans at the deep core world of Byss has drawn in the majority of the Heroes of Yavin so we wont have to deal with any interaction with those main characters.

We could easily place the sector you all built in the Outer Rim and not have to deal with the super weapon a week thing or anything else major that going on.

I love how people keep ignoring what it is that I'm saying over here about what time I want this set while arguing over things I've already thought out about a proper time and place.

Just ******** lovely.

"It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas."

Workin' on it.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
