Gavin's mouth slowly formed a small 'o' shape. "Ohhhhh. That's how I know his name." When Adrian mentioned that Kat had saved Vate's life, his eyebrows shot up. "No wonder he hates her..." he murmured.
Kat nearly cringed. She was actually taken aback, and slightly hurt, by Vate's sarcasm. After all, she had saved his life - right? He'd never once seemed grateful for it. Instead of sending a biting comment his way, she just turned away and went back into the gym.
Gavin frowned at Vate's sarcasm, but said nothing until his sister was well out of earshot. "Owch. That hurt," he murmured - meaning Kat's reaction to Vate's bow.

Thali led Vate to the soccer field, occassionally turning to smile at him. "I'm sorry about that." She said sincerely. "I didn't know she'd react to you like that. I thought I'd told her that you'd changed.. Guess she didn't believe me." The elf shrugged. "I waited for you to come back a long time." She muttered. "Why didn't you?"
Adrian shrugged. "I don't know--being saved by someone wouldn't make me hate them. Might make me grateful to them--I think it's more the other way around. That Kat hates Vate--and you know.. Maybe Vate doesn't like her much because of the trouble with getting Thali to Lynwood." He shrugged, and went to put an arm around Kat. "He's always like that." He muttered. "Don't let him get to you."

Brandy ✖ Jean ❝Vate paused for a moment, feeling slightly ashamed for not being there to help Thali at all. "I have been back at Lynwood." he finally replied. "Trying to convince your father, at least, to let the past events go. He wasn't very happy with us leaving."
He fidgeted a bit. "No one knows where you have been." Grinning, finding it a bit humorous, he said, "It's hard to come back and see you when one doesn't know where you are."❞

Thali frowned slightly. "I've written to father, though.. and he's returned my letters. Of course--I never put my address on them." She said, looking at him. "I've missed you." She muttered. "You've been gone for years--I waited.. When you didn't come back.." She paused, and sighed. "Well.. I gave up--adopted Joshua eight months ago." She said.
"Thought you'd always know where I was, though." She muttered.

Brandy ✖ Jean ❝Vate wasn't surprised by Thali's reaction, he knew she was just that type of person. She simply wanted to move on, and he didn't arrive in time.
"I understand." he replied, and then turned to head back to the school. "Excuse me Thali, but I have a class to prepare for." He entered back in the school, feeling a bit sullen. ❞

Gavin smirked. He had a feeling that he and Vate had been similar as teens. "Some guys would freak if a girl they didn't like saved their life. Like...be embarrassed." When Adrian expressed that Kat hated Vate, Gavin's right eyebrow raised. Kat didn't seem to hate the elf. She wasn't one to truly hate anyone. Speaking of Kat - the elf Gavin had been speaking to suddenly disappeared into the gym. He blinked, then leaned against the wall. They had to come back out this way, right? He might as well wait.
Kat gasped in surprise at the arm that suddenly wrapped around her. She'd been headed towards the locker room to change into something a bit less casual before they went to lunch; the last thing she was expecting was for someone to follow her in. And she was so absorbed in her own thoughts that she hadn't even heard his footsteps; or maybe that was because he was elvish and walked quietly. She sighed softly, then shook the whirlwind of thoughts from her head and gave Adrian a small smile. "Thanks. I - just wasn't expecting to see him anytime soon..."

Still holding her Shakespeare book and being careful not to drop it, Jessica scoured the school's halls, looking for the teacher that helped her earlier. Trying with all her might not to forget the teacher's name, she hurried throughout the school. She had already checked the teacher's classroom, so she had no idea where to turn. She was almost ready to give up when she spotted Thali; Wasn't that her name," Jessica thought; out on the soccer field with another person that Jessica deemed must be one of the other teachers.
Running across the hall and doing her best to dodge several students, Jessica hurried to the soccer field to seek Thali's guidance. After all, Thali did tell her to come and see her if she needed assistance, and right now, she did. Jessica fumbled and searched for her much needed inhaler while simultaneously hung on to her book for dear life, clutched her lungs in agony, and sprinted out onto the field. After what seemed to be an eternity of running, she finally caught up to Thali and her companion, very out of breath. "I... I'm sorry if I... interrupted you but... I... was wondering if I could... ask you... a question."

Thali sighed, and followed Vate. "Wait up!" She said, catching up to him. "I'll help you find the class room, all right?" She offered. "What I said earlier--about giving up. I'm sorry. It doesn't mean I don't care about you--I do! You know I do. I wouldn't have made you godfather to Joshua if I didn't!" Hesitantly, she took Vate's hand.
"I wouldn't have invited you here if I didn't want to see you." She said finally.
Thali paused in her apology to look at Jessica. "Nice to see you again, Jessica." She said with a smile. "Enjoying your lunch?" She asked politely. "Oh, what's your question?"

Brandy ✖ Jean ❝"We'll talk more later." Vate murmured to Thali, and kept walking down the hallway.
As much as Vate wanted to prepare for his class, there was a problem: he didn't know where the classroom was. He looked left, then right, and had no idea how the school labeled one classroom from another. ❞

Gavin was still pressed against the wall outside the gym, waiting. When he saw Vate coming back up the hall, he immediately recognized the look of confusion on his face. Once the elf got close enough, he piped up. "Not sure where your class is?"

Brandy ✖ Jean ❝Vate nodded. "Yes." he replied. "I can't find room 148." He didn't appear that way, but he was grateful for the help. But since he's male, an they have a bit of issues when it comes to pride and figuring things out, he tried not to reveal how he felt about the whole situation.❞

Adrian rolled his eyes slightly, before giving her a small smile. "You know--my sister did care for him, when she ran away. I think she still does--yeah, I know she's married--but really. I think that's why he's here--not to annoy you!" He said, with a light tone. "They used to be best friends--getting into trouble, playing games in the library--no one expected her to get upset about it." He sighed. "They thought she'd be happy."
He paused, and remembered that they were supposed to be going to lunch. "Want to go now?" He asked.

Gavin smirked. Vate wasn't a bad guy. What could his sister possibly be thinking? Now to actually help the guy find 148. He frowned slightly as he recalled the direction his chem class had been in. "Well, it should be near 145 - which is the chemistry room. It's right around the corner there - just go to the left." He pointed to indicate which direction Vate should go in.

Brandy ✖ Jean ❝Vate figured out where his class room was, and nodded. "Thank you." He said, and headed down the hall.
He unlocked his classroom, once he found it, and opened the door. He froze at the doorway, finding row after row of computers in front of chairs. Hesitantly, he turned on the light, and stepped inside. His stare was fixed on one of the computers, and he poked the mouse. ❞

Kat snickered. "I know that, silly. He didn't have a clue I was going to be here anyway." She almost said something about how he'd been a jerk when she met him, but decided not to as her stomach growled loudly. "Ah - yes. Good idea." She grinned sheepishly. "Just let me change really fast." In a second, she'd disappeared into the girls' locker room. Less than a minute later, she reappeared, wearing a black blouse with matching flats and jeans. "Ok, ready!"
