Black Duvet

"Lana -" she started, but cringed when she saw the look in her eyes. Pregnant or no, she was still a fa'e and could defend herself right now; she'd probably just end up getting in the way in her condition. She nodded glibly and, seeing the furry cat-man retrieve her sister, hurried off after the group through the empty fireplace, clutching her wound.

Slavering over the blood on its weapon, the knife-armed table that had been attacking Amaris considered the problem of its retreating prey as it licked the weapon clean, leaving a sheen of black drool over the weapon. Not matter; there were others yet. It swiveled to find a new target, and locked on the blue winged Fa'e. Charging forward, the creature lunged again with its knife.

Kumoru would do well to remember in the future that fire needed air as much as anything to live. The wind lifted the flames temporarily, but the second that the spell faded, they were burning more horribly than ever, and the wooden creature was trying to rearragne itself to wrap fully around the magic-user; much as it had incorporated the knife into its being, it was now trying to encapsulate Kumoru, to make his very body a part of its own.

The two tables continued their assault on the vampire. Every hit seemed to do nothing more than to force it to rearrange itself again; it reattached each scrap that fell off, constantly coming to a new form and renewing its attack. It was the irresistable force of Kochi's attacks meeting the unmovable object of the monsters' adaptability, and there was no saying who could hope to win.

Okay, so maybe first instincts were not the best idea. Kumoru would have time to curse his lack of practical combat training later, though, if he was lucky. For now, seeing that neither his spell nor his kicking had had the desired effects, he tried to curl up to protect his face at least from the fire, and shrieked for good measure.

The calmness, the composure in whatever situation no matter what, was now gone as the flames licked at Kumoru's clothing and burned his skin where it was exposed. He tried screaming, but drawing the breath to do so burned his mouth and throat.

He was going to die.

The necromancer failed to notice right away when Nima drenched the fire. His skin still burned painfully. And then he realized the door was still trying to engulf him, even if it was on longer on fire. Drawing a ragged breath, he started to beat on it with his fists, and kick for all he was worth. Moving hurt like hell, but Kumoru figured it would be far better than dying.

Aylana watches as the others run before her eyes settle on the door with the knife. s**t it had a weapon and she didn't, this was not good. Taking a few steps backwards she tries to think quickly. She needed something to protect herself. This wasn't right, she didn't know how to stop this monster and now she was in serious trouble.

"Damn it if I get out of this place alive I'm never coming back here again." keeping her wings around her body to protect her stomach as best as she picks up anything she grabs throwing it at the door. She hopes she would slow it down even for a moment.

Nima scrambled over to Kumoru and grasped onto the door with both hands. Probably not the smartest thing she's done in her life... She yanked back on it, trying to pry if off the necromancer. "Get - off - of - him!" she said through gritted teeth, kicking it with each word.

"Du kannst mir den Buckel runterrutschen!" Kochi howled out as she tore at the plank with her teeth, although she seemed dissappointed with the results. These things, they weren't dieing! Although she was used to beating on things and them not going away, this was different. The woman grabbed both of the planks with her hands, digging her claws into them and holding them immobile and staring at both of them quite befuddled. "Ich bin doch nicht von gestern, Aber, Ich bin mit meinem Latein am Ende." She thought back, and considered this. The woman was slow, and this was no exception. They would obviously just keep on reforming, so it was pointless to tear them up. Once something like this happened and she just buried each of the guys limbs underground in seperate countries, but she doubted she had the time for this.

So Kochi resolved to do the next best thing. With a firm grip she let out a grunt of exertion as she pulled one arm up before throwing it down and attempting to ram the panel into the ground itself, hoping to wedge it down and keep it from attacking anyone.

The flaming door, being beaten on by two different creatures, began to crumble and shatter. The strain being turned to ash was too much for it to compensate for, even with its reassembling abilities; though it had managed to do much damage before the fire consumed it too much, it began to succumb to the flames. Between Kumo and Nima's attempts, it flung apart at last; the pieces burned and were unable to draw themselves together again before burning to small shambles.

Throwings things at the door-monsters, unfortunately, had very little effect. The item bounced immediately off of the door and barely slowed it, leaving it free to take a slash at Aylana.

Pinning one of the door-monsters seemed to work, at least insofar as slowing it; the creature, however, was already reassembling under Kochi's grasp to better attack her from beneath. And the second monster was attacking her unhindered from behind while she kept the first pinned, using wooden claws and teeth to rip into the vampire's back.

Coughing, Kumoru kicked the last of the door apart and closed his eyes, then rubbed them ever so gently with his burnt hands. The skin was peeling off of several of his fingers, though, so he immediately gave up on that.

He tightened the muscles in his stomach in an attempt to sit up, but he was too sore all over to get very far. With a sigh and another cough, the necromancer flopped lightly back down prone on the floor.

Everything was dark already, so Kumoru had no way of seeing that his vision was going dark compared to everything else. His whole body relaxed, and then he passed out.

"Vut?" A purple brow raised and the wings on her head twitched as she glanced behind herself. Stupid fricken door thing was coming at her from behind! But it did nothing more to her then just tear up the back of her band t-shirt (Thift Store!). It was hopeless to try and puncture her flesh, it just resulted in her getting annoyed. Quite frusterated she scoffed at the door behind her, grabbing it with claws and throwing it down beside the other one. Crouched down on the floor looking rather like a kid and an anthill, the vampire had had just about enough of this. Not only that, the smell of smoke and fire near her was begining to freak her out.

For she only had one fear. And that was fire. And it seemed that was the only way to kill these things. And she had that son thing, and he was probably shaking in his metaphorical boots right now. She didn't have time to play with these harmless wooden panels. Kochi noted to herself that she had had more frightening shits then these little pieces of animated wood. There had to be something better in this building, something she could dig her teeth into that wouldn't give her uncomfortable splinters. Maybe even something she could get a good mouthful of blood out of.

So she abandoned the doors, flinging them against the wall one last time and giving a little hiss before she bolted for the doors. Why hadn't she come here earlier with her son? This was so much fun!

Feeling the knife cut through the fabric of her shirt then skim the skin of her stomach was enough for her. Unfolding her wings she grabs the door with one hand as she rips the knife away from it with the other sending it flying towards the door that leads towards the inner hallway.

Narrowing her eyes on the door she grabs it with her other hand ripping it right down the middle before she folds it in half hearing it crack before she gives a smile to the door as she throws a few pieces into her mouth chewing on it as she broke each piece of the door by halfing it.

Breaking the last few pieces of the door apart she pops them into her mouth. Covering her mouth she swallows the last bit before she plops down on the floor.

Out of all the crazy things she has eaten, the door had to be the worse.

"Don't fall asleep!" Nima said, kneeling next to Kumoru. "Dammit..." She didn't want to stay in this room, but she couldn't just leave the poor man lying there helpless. The mage hovered over him protectively. At least she could swat the doors away, right?

Upon recovering from the vampire's latest onslaught, the two creatures followed Kochi a few paces- she was out the doors before they could reach her for another attack, however. Milling about a few moments to search out a new target, the two split up- one for Aylana, the other for where Nima looked after Kumoru.

Aylana, in the meantime, was in quite a bit of trouble. Her insides were churning, trying to turn themselves inside out and outside in all at once. Eating possessed wood, it would seem, is a bad idea. Especially when you are pregnant and have just put a source of great danger near your unborn children. Simply swallowing the door-monster was not enough to disarm it.

Wincing Aylana places her hands over her stomach feeling the monster turn within her body. Yea that wasn't a good idea at all. Shaking her head she mental kicks herself for doing that. She needed a way to protect the babies withn her.

Forming a shield around the babies within her womb she does the only thing she knows to rid of them. Although she hated showing weakness hse rather not have this in her body anymore.

Allowing it to come back up she doesn't really give the monster a chance to get her as she moves as fast as her legs can carry her toward the Inner hallway. She had enough of this room and just wanted out of it.

The Common Room as it looks now. There is no one in here.

The HQ has changed, at least from the inside. It's like it's fallen into a state of absolute disrepair, warped to a point of questionable stability. The lines of the ceiling and walls are no longer straight, but sagging, barely scraping over the heads of the taller adults; something seems to be crawling along the walls, hiding under pieces of torn wallpaper and making small screeting noises as they moved about. The floor and walls seem slick and wet, with God only knew what. The air is thick with something horrible, an organic stench that most would not recognize or particularly want to recognize, given the situation.

The couches are all torn up, as if attacked by some rabid animal; sharp slices of metal jag out where the frames had been bent and twisted. There is something hanging down from the along the walls over the darkened fireplace, almost like a dark, thick strands of something that grow straight out of the ceiling corners. Things, the size of infants, seem to be tangled up in their midst, barely illuminated by the inadequate lighting.

Most chilling, though, is the front door. Its frame bled where it met the wall- literally bled, a slow sappy ooze that ran into the wooden floor and sunk beneath the cracks. The front door itself is splintered into pieces, revealing nothing but impenetrable darkness behind it. There is wood scattered all over the floor, some parts burned, and to the door that leads to the inner hallway -- no longer guarded by Calcifer -- lies a small stiletto.

"I swear to all the gods...even Raven and Coyote...that if I ever seen another rain cloud, it'll be too soon," grumbled a positively drenched, walking ball of fur that approached the deceptively normal-looking HQ. From between stringy, slick strands of white hair, Yani attempted to nagivate his way to the door, but the onslaught of rain and the general nastiness of the weather wasn't helping. Even the wind seemed to wantt o keep him from his one chance at shelter for the meantime.

Normally a rainstorm didn't phase the deer fa'e, but when one gets bucked off their previously trusty steed and left to sit in the rapidly muddying grass....moods can change easily. The fa'e ignored the caked mud down one leg and side for now. It'd either get washed off by the rain or when he got inside.

After negotiating through the slippery grass, the fa'e reached out gratefully for the HQ doorknob....

and suddenly he found himself staring at a room that DEFINATELY didn't look like the HQ he remembered. He blinked dumbly, feeling a little disoriented.

"Er.....funny trick, guys," Yani muttered in annoyance, ears flicking back and forth a bit to remove a bit of moisture from their sensitive edges. This had to be some sort of pre-Halloween joke.
