@Icee:
-What do you mean by "and then direct them to a thread with all the ideas and stuff listed from members past"?
-Will all of the rules, guidelines, how things like ageing and owning shops works, etc, be in that announcements sticky or will one of us need to make a thread will all of that?
-Re sorting, if I understand correctly, you're saying that we will always remain in the same house (ie not be resorted). [And that was actually quoting me, not cocosam XD.]

@Stardust Disaster:
-For Housing #1, do you mean that there should be just one thread for all the Hogsmeade shops? Or that Hogsmeade shops in the book should stay in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley shops in the book should stay in Diagon Alley? (I agree with the second one, and I like DgnA for Diagon Alley (DA does make me think Dumbledore's Army biggrin ))
-For housing #2, how do you think the number of shops should be regulated? And what happens if they're all taken? And I think maybe only one shop each (to start with, at least), especially since we will be getting more graduates as time goes on.

@Everyone:
So I think I'm just going to call the ageing thing decided: option A, and we'll go with Sam's idea for housing. Also, we seem to agree that people should have the option of owning a shop from the books if they would like to. (Should we limit this to certain ones only?)

I've just realized that with the age thing, it sort of messes up the timing if Jane is 30 after 1 month, and then ages one year per term. Also, it is messed up if she has a child because the child ages to 11 in one term and then 1 year per term. But what if the child is "born" partway through the term, not at the beginning?

Perhaps we should say that after one term Jane becomes 30, and then ages 1 year per term. After that, at the start of each term, Jane has the option of having a "child". The child will be 11 at the end of the term, and will then also age 1 year per term.

Couple more things, sorry.
@Icee, when do we need to have everything sorted out by? Will the mods be creating threads such as the residential areas, ie ones that will permanently be there?

@Everyone: I think it would be better to have only one St Mungo's Hospital thread. I don't think there'll be enough use to warrant making a thread for each person, ex John's hospital room. It might be better to just have it all in one place, sort of like the residential areas.

*I mean place a link to a thread that will be made by graduates (Ie you).
*That thread will be made by you guys
*Exactly (and sorry for the mix up!)

The mods (unless we're graduates) will only be making one thread the Announcement sticky. The collective graduates (maybe if we get a team together right now, we can start making that sticky as an U/C thing in the main subforum) will make up that "What's Going on Here" sticky. Note: that doesn't have to be the name of it.
Who creates the Residential Areas won't be the mods (but I do have a suggestion that it be one of the first graduates of each House)
I also like the General Residential Areas.

Oh goodie, its all coming together.

I like your idea for the aging Lyra.

I suppose in our common rooms we can also sort of hold a small contest for the introduction to the residentail area, much like we [the ravenclaws] did for our common room introduction.

Residential
For the residential ares, Alutian, Juni, and Rayne are graduates, right? And Kitty will be at the end of this term if she decides to graduate this time around, so that would be one from each house. They could either create the thread in its entirety or just make the first post and then let one or two people in their house do the rest (intro, etc) if they didn't want to. I think Sam and I would gladly do so for Ravenclaw (though I shouldn't really speak for Sam).

"What's Going on Here" sticky
Do we need to find a couple graduates to work on the "What's Going on Here" sticky and fill them in on everything, or would Sam and I be allowed to at least help with that? After all, I'll likely be a graduate at the end of this term, and you (Icee), Sam, and I seem to know what's going on the best. I understand if I'm not allowed to help though, since I'm not quite a graduate yet.

Creating threads
Who will create things like the St Mungo's Hospital thread?
And a thread to submit applications for owning/creating a shop?

@Sam:
Yes, it's all coming together. Slowly, but we're getting there.
And I like your idea for the residential area descriptions.

Other

Should perhaps the residential areas and the thread for shop applications be stickies? And then the shops themselves just normal threads? That'll separate them. "What's Going on Here" thread should maybe be an announcement (if possible)?

Residential:

I like all those candidates. And I'd be glad to finish it up if we had to with Lyra

I'd also glady help with the 'What's Going Here"

Hm. I think we should leave this up to the mods.
Personally, I think Juni should do St. Mungo's.

I think these should be stickies:

Residential Areas
Application Thread
What's going here [announcement]

I think the rest should be normal, much like the rp forum.

Lyra:
- Hogsmeade shops in the book should stay in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley shops in the book should stay in Diagon Alley. x3

-how do you think the number of shops should be regulated?
Er, i dunno, maybe the person who wants to own a shop has to pay for it, all funds go to the guild... ? i really don't know.

-And what happens if they're all taken?
have a limit of like 2 terms for owning a shop after it gets full i suppose. o 3o
Yeah, one shop sounds good. C:

Where'd all the mods go? We sort of need a few to read the last couple pages and post their responses/opinions/answer questions, if possible...

I'm lovin' how all the ideas are coming together in this thread. It's awesome! It's getting me all excited about seeing the graduate forum in action.

EDIT:Ok. What the mods will probably do as the Announcement sticky is tell what a Graduate/Honorary Member is, what they can do, and then direct them to a thread with all the ideas and stuff listed from members past. The Announcement will also have the rules of the subforum and a FAQ. The subforum is supposed to be your (the graduates) creation, and that's how we'll let it run.

That sounds kind of silly; from my perspective it just seems like it'd be a pain to have an announcement you have to read, only to be directed to ANOTHER even more important announcement type info thread, especially when you consider how many threads are going to eventually go into this subforum anyway. A single thread page can span 15 posts(if you don't delete any); that's alot of leeway for organizing important information into one page load. So why not reference all the important stuff into one major announcement? Though if necessary, I could see an announcement (with graduate info) linking to a Directory thread(s) that will list current shops and whatnot (Shop apps probably would go here).

@Everyone: Are the shops going to be stickied? I'm getting mixed info about that. Urrgh. Too... tired to do more thinking... will get back to this later.

No, shops will NOT be stickied. The 4 residential areas, along with a directory/shop application thread WILL be stickied. (I like your idea about a directory thread with a list of current shops and as a place for shop applications.)

((Back read to the MAX))

Did we discover a name for the Residential area for Slytherin? ( Didn't catch that if we did))
But I find all the ideas great, i'm so excited !

But Juni, I think the residential areas are stickied for less confusion. But shops are not?

No, a name has not been decided upon for Slytherin's residential area. We still need more suggestions and then confirmation of which one is liked by everyone. Est_Monte_de_Dieu (Katie) suggested that Slytherin's RA could be a cave or something underground, and called a "Snake's Hole" or something of that sort.

The shops are NOT stickied. The residential areas ARE.
(This will separate the shops from the residential areas. Also, the residential areas will not change but shops will, so it is easier to make the RAs stickied and the shops not, as opposed to the other way around.)

Um, I've been corresponding with Summer, and I'm not sure if she's going to post it or not, but she likes the idea of the lake. Or maybe we could just compromise, a village under a lake....kinda like the common room!

Every subforum has an announcement and it's usually made by Adonis talking about the specifics of the subforum. I don't see why Adonis can't make an announcement talking about specifics (like a Welcome thread). It isn't silly. GRADUATES aren't the only members who'll be visiting that subforum and for those who aren't graduates they need to know what Honorary Members/Grads are and stuff. The official sticky will be made by the graduates. The announcement is also needed for different updates and improvements that come in the subforum that isn't related to the Graduates roleplays.
OR we can combine some elements from the directory into the Welcome thread. I'm not really particular as long as Adonis makes the Announcement thread.
