Lorelei leaned in and kissed the girl on the cheek, then stood up, shifting her load in her arms again to steady it. She turned to Voltaire. "I believe we're good." Her gaze drifted to her feet. "... Thank you. For everything."
Vanna chirped and bumped her head against Annjette's, then took off, flying in a circle around the girl.

He shook his head raising his hands up a bit, "I did what was right, Lorelei. You needed a roof over your while you took the time to find yourself. I do believe you are starting to blossom quite nicely." Voltaire stepped toward her, "You are always welcome to my wagon whenever you have need of our company."
Annjette giggled softly watching Vanna seeming to enjoy the time they have together for the moment. The swan-girl seemed much more cheerful now that Lorelei had soothed her fears and anxeity of seperation.

"Thank you, again," Lorelei murmured, glancing up at him. "I'll keep that in mind. And know that you can come to me, as well - though I'm not quite sure I can do much besides darning Annjette's clothing!" She laughed.

Voltaire laughed and shook his head, "You needn't do anything, but be a friend. You are good at that," he shrugged, "You will learn how to do other things slowly but surely. It is but a matter of picking things you desire to do and practicing."
He glanced upward a moment, "Ahh, but I am keeping you. You need to go get settled in." Voltaire glanced over at Annjette before looking back at Lorelei, "Thank you for being good to 'Jette. I think it is part of why she adores you so."

"Yes, I should start getting settled. And you're welcome - I care for her deeply. She's free to come and ride with me and Vanna whenever he wants." Lorelei dropped an awkward curtsy, then called to Vanna, who flew over.
"Good-bye for the time being, Annjette! I'll see you tomorrow, I should think!"

Voltaire nodded and bowed a bit while stepping aside to give Lorelei room to a most direct route toward her own wagon, "The offer will be kept in mind. Be safe, Lorelei."
Then he went and gathered Annjette toussling her bangs a bit, "Feel better?" He said softly to the girl as she waved at Lorelei's retreating form.
Annjette looked over at him and nodded ever so slightly. It would have to be all better. There was no way to put things back as they where.
"Papa, I am hungry and sleepies." Annjette said in a mournful tone of a child that had a very long day indeed.
Voltaire smiled a bit and nodded turning to retreat into the confines of his wagon to ready Annjette's afternoon meal.

The young rabbit girl sat on the floor of the wagon, painting some goose eggs. Once they were dry and she was content with their appearance, she placed them in white cloth bags that her mother made. Opening the door, she snuck out into the night and secretly delivered each egg. drawn and colored by kojiro <3

Hand me that tool, please? Fixing the Wagon Tongue... [40 Couplet Favor] It was a little after the Ordering ceremony, and there was just enough light outside to work on a little repair project he had planned. The half-elf had much earlier noted a crack in the tongue of Valelldia's wagon and had wanted to fix it as thanks to her for allowing him to take care of Annjette and letting him into the "family" in general.
He carried Annjette in one arm as he stopped by the wagon and bent to retrieve something from a small looking underside compartment. What he took out from the compartment was nothing more than a humble tool kit, good enough to fix cracks and perhaps improve the over-all quality of the wood.
Annjette giggled a little as he bent to retrieve something as the sensation felt somewhat dizzying being held momentarily upside down.
As he straightened Voltaire grinned at Annjette, "Let's go see if we can fix that nasty wound on Miss Valelldia's wagon," he said to her as he started to move toward the front of the caravan to Valelldia's wagon.
He didn't have to move his wagon very far to adjust for the new arrangement, and that suited him just fine. It gave him time to go about fixing an issue he noticed on Valelldia's wagon.
Now that he was at the wagon the crack in the Wagon's tongue seemed to have grown over the short period time. The rearrangement of wagons probably didn't help one bit. He set Annjette down and his toolbox next to her, "Let's see what we can do. You watch the toolbox, Jette."
Annjette responded with a giggle and then began to stare at the toolbox taking it literally as Voltaire went and knelt near the tongue to observe the damage for a moment before going back and getting tools and various replacement parts to fix it. If he could he'd walk away from Valelldia's wagon in a better condition than he found it in.
It took several hours of combined manual work and a bit of elf-magic that he had inherited and knew from what his birth-father had taught him. He "healed" (after applying a strange looking putty) the wooden parts and replaced the faulty bits that caused it to crack in the first place and in the end ended up making it stronger.
In the end Annjette had abandoned her watching task and crept closer to watch her Papa cast spells in a strange language she rarely heard him speak in. After he had finished Voltaire glanced over at Annjette, "Thought you had a job to do, little one?" he laughed as he picked her up and the few items he used and moved to put them in the toolbox.
Annjette merely shrugged in response to the comment, "Papa, teach me?"
Voltaire paused a moment and then shook his head, "I am afraid I cannot teach you this magic, Duckling. You have your own type to learn..."
The girl let the comment sink in before nodding slowly and letting it drop ... for now.
"Let's go back to the wagon and relax a while it has been a big day." He said after a stretch of silence that enveloped them as he went around picking up items and debris.
Annjette nodded as she asked, "Papa, am I bad?"
The question stunned him enough to stop him in the middle of picking up (and dipping Annjette in the process) the tool box. He bent a bit further and finally picked up the box of tools and slowly responded, "No, no, child. You are not bad if you do not wish to be bad. I do not wish for you to be bad, 'Jette. I want you to live a happy and healthy life..."
"If I can't live happy then?" Annjette persisted with a crease appearing at her brow.
Voltaire frowned and sighed, "I pray that never happens. Now no more questions today, and let's go rest..."
Annjette fell silent and so did Voltaire as they headed back to their own wagon.... The End

Lorelei yawned, knocking on the door to Voltaire's wagon. It had been quite some time, it seemed, since she'd moved out.... when really, it had only been a week or two. Vanna stirred tiredly in her arms, yawning and waking up from her short nap. Vanna peered up at her mother and made a questioning sound, even simple words elluding her for the time being.
"You're going to get to stay with Uncle Voltaire and Cousin Annjette for a day or two," Lorelei explained, stroking the girl's hair. "As a treat!"
She could tell from the slow blinking of Vanna's third eye that the little purple girl didn't believe her for an instant.
"And when you come home, that scary thing will be all gone."

There was a short rustling behind the door and then it creaked open revealing Voltaire and Annjette who was now draped in his arms. He looked pale but whatever it was that had managed to spook him was receeding into memory as soon as he saw Lor and Vanna. He greeted them with a smile, "Hello you two, care to come in?"
Annjette seemed a touch upset with Voltaire as if he had been leading her in a merry chase around the bush which the girl didn't seem to appreciate.
Everytime she asked where he went off to while she slept she'd only get an answer which was half truth and half little white lie, but as soon as she saw Lor and Vanna she too lit up! She wasn't expecting to get a visit from her "cousin" so soon and maybe now they can play!

"I'm a little too close to falling asleep on my feet, sadly, so I'll have to pass. I just wanted to know if you two might want to have Vanna over for an extended sleep over?" She smiled at the two. "I need to take care of the little ghost problem, and I'd rather her be here until everything's all clear."
Vanna looked at her mother, almost smirking as she heard her mother admit the truth. Then she was squirming, reaching out little chubby hands to Annjette, giggling.
