"And do what?!" Riot snapped at the butler uncaringly. " Stay awake in there?" He asked bluntly, where ever he was going to go-he was going to to be just as restless there.

His mind was troubled, where was Nicodemus at? Riot didn't know what to do, and his brother was gone-he should have been home by now-he would know what to do.

"Be far from me. Now!" The young master demanded in a growl to Jarvis.

Standing at the balcony he over looked the entrance where he expected to she his oldest brother at any time. The longer he had to wait the more anxious and unknowing he became. Thoughts pledged his mind of 'why he wasn't there...Maybe he took this oppertuinty to leave for good, but to leave him? No ..Nic wouldn't do that...

Jarvis said nothing to protest the young master's decision. He had been through a lot and the last thing he needed was someone nagging on him. It would only cause more distress.

"As you wish young master." He spoke respectfully before turning about and heading back up to Mr. Whitebane's room to attend to his condition.

There would be no sign of Nicodemus' arrival. If he had know he would have immediately dropped whatever experiment they were conducting, but the head scientists knew this and still kept word of his mother's death from him. They even halted any out-going mail to insure focus.

Mr. Whitebane remained in his chair looking over the gardens. The soup sitting on a small table next to him had already cooled and became inedible with the passing of time. Jarvis had been unsuccessful in getting Mr. Whitebane to do anything, muchless talk.

"Gah!" Riot tightly unfolded his arms and knocked the bowl of soup off the balcony, that jarvis had left him. Turning sharply, a growl left him where he took a step-then turn again. Feeling like a caged lion till....

"YOUR SUPPOSE TO BE HERE!"
The Young Whitebane roared out to the night, deep down hoping Nicodemus would hear him. But knowing that it was impossible. His fist clinched at his sides as his twenty yearold frame tensed.

"NICODEMUS GODDAMNIT! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!?"
Riot yelled out all the louder, tears burned his blazing eyes. Growing he was angry at his own tears, His hand raised and grasped at nothing, his eyes turned and darted around for something. Till he saw it, a piece of decor by the door-with out a thought. Bare callous hands grabbed it and he threw it over the balcony. As if to do something with his anger-he had to do something, the few items he scooped up off the ground and flung those two. A cig dish, a empty carton to go with the table that the items rested on.

He had to have some kind of control in the situation-and at the moment he felt so helpless. His chest heaved with breaths of anger as it all exploded at once. Looking over the ledge, his hands gripped the banister. His knuckles turned white as he looked to them-the blaze in his eyes matched the rage the fired in him and beat strongly within his heart.

helpless...he felt completely helpless. Like a child.

"Your suppose to be here..."
Left Rudolf's lips so faintly as if his breath had been take away. Proof it had, slipped from his eyes as he took in a hiccuped breath, as dots of moisture printed the shelf where his hands lay.

Any and all form of message was purposefully blocked before it had reached the Fox labs. The Dr. had specifically asked that he not be distracted from his tests, his experiments. And because of this Nicodemus was none the wiser about what had befell his family, that he was severely needed at home. Instead he focused on his training and occasionally thought of which base he should request to be moved to. One that Riot would enjoy his first years in the military.
----

Jarvis rushed through the mansion halls upon hearing Riot's determined scream. The faithful butler had been between caring for Riot's father, Riot where he could and sending more letters for Nicodemus' return. He must have sent more than twenty by now. Unknowing that they had been burned soon after leaving the home.

"Young master!" He called as he tapped on the door to the room. "Young master, please... Might I suggest that you take a moment of your time to visit Mr. Whitebane." He offered with a hesitated tone.

Since loosing his wife Mr. Whitebane had deteriorated considerably. He had yet to remove himself from his balcony where he continued to stare out over the gardens and refuse any form of sustenance. Jarvis had done everything he could with no success to pull the heart-broken man out of his depressive state.

Hearing the tapping on the door, fallowed by Jarvis' words. Riot's finger tips gripped on the stone railing tighter anger caused him to shake slightly as he thought about his father. It was his fault....and a combination of even his own actions in retailing-which started the fight.

"Why should I?" Riot growled over his shoulder partly. After all he wasn't even considered a 'son' or let alone a 'Whitebane'. The butler didn't even referrer to him as the father of the younger Whitebane. His head turned back to the bannister and his eyes narrowed.

"I wouldn't want to waste his time, but more importantly mine."
The young Whitebane seethed, everything was more important then Rudolf Whitebane. Hell, he didn't even like his name. Straightening, Riot let his arms fold tightly across his chest, taking in a slow breath his chest rose and slowly released. His sharp blue eyes watched the horizon intently as he scaned over his thoughts, but more specifically that of his mother dying in his arms-speaking to him in her last breath.

His pulse quickened.

Oh his own formalities would be his undoing one of these days. Jarvis drew a deep breath and leaned closer to the door.

"Forgive me if I step out of line here Young Master. Your father... I do not believe he will last much longer himself if he should carry on as he does now. I cannot get him to move, to eat.. It would be my recommendation to at least try to talk to him. He does blame himself for the loss of his beloved, I have heard him rambling at night when his body would not allow him to remain awake any longer. Try as I have, he will not listen to a word I have said. I can only hope he will listen to you young Master. He needs you now more than ever."

Jarvis straightened his posture and took a step away from the door. He had said all he could.

The Whitebane felt his jaw tighten to Jarvis' words. Anger still coursed though him as he could only recall his mother-and how his so called father 'needed' him now. And how his mother spoke for him on his behalf.

Hands slid off the banister, his knuckle's where still white from the grip he held on the ledge. Turning slowly his fist clinched as he returned to the door, moving a tense arm he pulled the door open.

He reviled himself to the butler-and not because of his words. but rather for the sake of his mother-but more importantly It's something he Knew Nic would do. And Nic wasn't there, so it was left him.....

Only out of respect for his mother and brother...not for the shell of a man that remained.

Looking back at Jarvis, Riot's bright blue gaze shown themselves cold on him-though held no ill contempt to the man.

Out of duty Jarvis lead the young master to his father's room, but halted at the door. He still had some food to prepare in hopes of getting the father to eat something.

Within the parental's room it was practically untouched. The bed was made as if no one had slept in it in ages while the floors remained spotless. A small breeze blew in from the open balcony door where a single chair sat overlooking their garden. Within the chair was a husk of a man slumped from his own fatigue. The elder whitebane's eyes had remained glazed over from tears that would no longer flow from his eyes. His skin had grown pale and his gaze distant. He remained oblivious to anything and everything as he wallowed in his guilt.

A breath left Riot as he he reluctantly fallowed after Jarvis. Walking down the halls was so surreal, it was like walking down the tunnel of a twisted dream. Blinking he realized he was in his parents room as he pulled his mind from the gray cloud of his thoughts.

He hadn't even noticed that he had fallowed the loyal butler to his father's side. No he was so detached as he realized just how his mother smelt as it was all about the room as the gentle breeze brushed up the smell. He felt his gaze start to glaze over as he realized even the scent would soon fade.

Slowly his head turned to look at the corpse of a man. Riot's heart was so calloused towards the man, he only stared at the other Whitebane.

It was easily to push back the tears as his eyes narrowed at the male, his posture remained tense at the elder.

His jaw tightened as it took every ounce of will to not say anything to the husk before him, out of respect of only his brother. It felt as if time went on forever as he let his gaze bore into the man. Till..

"You...." Seethed out from Riot's Mouth darkly. His tight hand rose to point roughly at the Whitebane. "Selfish Coward of a man." Rudolf cursed to his 'father'.

"Even in her dying breaths she defended you. You b*****d." Riot spoke, the undertone of his voice was in a noticeable growl.

"And all you can do now, is think of yourself and just give up."

A cowards way out. He still had children, to think of. Not just him and his dead love bird. It was Nicodemious and His mother too...and here he was, just letting himself Die.

"I should kill you myself to save you the trouble, grant you a favor-something you never even thought to give me."

Jarvis parted after Riot’s hollow threat of taking his own father’s life. His eyes had widened slightly, but he did well to keep his surprise to a minimum. Nothing could be held against the littlest Whitebane, his mother’s words must have been fresh on his mind still. The family butler resolved himself to keep his mind occupied with preparing the food.

The elder Whitebane looked from the ‘endless’ garden to his son. Though the words were harsh he took no offense to them. His eyes looked back to the garden.

“I have lost my better half…” He croaked as if quoting scripture. “Whole no more. I was her cover, and failed to do my job… I failed her.”

Colorless eyes shifted as he looked back to Riot. So much sorrow filled the man’s heart it had begun to overflow through his eyes in small trickles. One could not comprehend how much ache was felt within this man’s heart.

“Failed you… what right do I have to press on when I failed my love.”

Riot's nose wrinkled at the man before him, as his upper lip twitched in annoyance at the male.

"You think..." Riot spoke to the Whitebane as he looked at the shell of a man. He was his mother's protector-and he failed, he had forgotten he was such a thing for not just her-but for his two sons as well.

A hand moved to Riot's jaw as he ran his finger tips around his and down his Chin as he wiped his mouth. Turning his head he looked away. Bitting his bottom lip he shook his head.

"How do you even forget such a thing."
Riot spoke as he threw his hand from his jaw to gesture at his father. "That's something, you don't have a choice to just 'fail' at." He growled.

"You keep on trying with every last breath you can manage-you don't just give up, you b*****d."

"It doesn't just work like that." Riot finished as he turned clinching his hands at his sides once more.

Each word of his son's was a new coal atop his head. He slumped further in his chair taking each word for what it was, the truth.

"A good father.. doesn't forget those things. A good husband, a good cover... doesn't forget." He mourned and turned his attention past Riot to the garden for a moment as thoughts of his departed wife pulled at his mind once more. "I... I will never hold anything against you... my Elanor was right."

Tears rolled down his cheeks as he could picture her face perfectly in his mind. Her smile, her laugh, the joy she carried when she looked upon their children. All of that he had lost.

Eyes somberly looked upon Riot once more. "Just... promise me this and only this my son, when you find your other half... be a better cover for her... a protector for her... don't be like me. My son.. don't ever be like me and forget what you are to do... don't loose your way.. don't loose your other half.... Don't be like me..."

His voice begun to trail along with his stare. Once again he looked past Riot and out to his beloved's gardens. Eyes lost to a nightmare he was doomed to re-live over and over.

Listening to his father's words, Riot couldn't help but feel a cocktail of emotions from the male's words. Anger, remorse, sadness, grief, resolve...stubborn determination. To not be like him....well, that was already a given.

How could one, describe the feeling one was experiencing such travesty as this...

Well, one as a young man...blistering with testosterone and still getting use to the concept of such emotions.....Reacted as such:

"Don't you ******** tell me what to do!"
Riot burst-ed out and pointed a condemning finger at his father. His eyes burned with a stead fast heat, as he tried desperately to keep back tears. Tears this man didn't deserve to see.

"You can't just decided your going to be a father like that." The Younger male's chest hurt with unforgiveness as he simply didn't know how to react to his father actually....being a father.

"Not after everything you have done to me-To Nicodemus!"
Rudolf growled like a surprise animal.

"You only thought of yourself, in everything that you have done-It has only been for you!" The Son Claimed. " Even now-you are trying to make yourself look better then who you really are." Riot lashed out with his words, carving them deeply into the imgain he had of his father.

"Even On my birthday you would lock me in my room-so I wouldn't ******** let this God damn family 'look bad' while you celebrated Nic and his birth. Why did you even bother to let me live past the womb-when you where so ashamed of who I am?!"
The agnsty son, gestured to himself with both hands, his finger tips grabbed angrily at his shirt as he pulled at the fabric and shook his fist at his father. Desperately trying to-in his own unknown way-asking 'why he wasn't loved, what had he done so wrong.'

"It would have saved us all the trouble now wouldn't it?!"
Riot's eyes stung as he closed them-lashing out in raw spoken emotion. His body shook, and his legs trembled as if a scared little boy.

"So don't you try and be a father now."
The Child pointed out to his father, as tears flooded from his eyes-and his gaze so clouded with water he could no longer see clearly. "Not now-you b*****d!"

"I ******** hate you." Riot let out his breath taken by his own tears and the uneven air that was taken in his lungs.

His father only listened as more and more coals were heaped upon his head. Every word was another dagger to his already broken heart. Once again black fog had seeped into his mind and opened up ever memory of each birthday, each event, each time he had neglected his youngest son. He loved him dearly, but it was never showed. Rudolf never knew of the love his parents had for him.

“No… I will never look better…” The words my son stuck on his tongue. No, he did not deserve to claim anyone as his son. “I was no father to you. And I was never ashamed of you… only myself. My failures… failure to be proud of his own son… No… at this point I will not look better. Not for her… I failed… her…”

Focus continued to be in another time, another place as he continued to look out over the gardens. A small breath passed his lips. “I am so sorry my beloved Elise…”

"Damn, right you wont." Riot answered stubbornly as his arm moved over his gaze he wipe away the tears. Taking a step he turned away from his father.

Growling, The Whitebane grudgingly turned his head away from his father. He couldn't stand to look at him.

Not once did he say 'sorry', at least his mother got a apology. Though it could not be heard past a grave.

Shaking his head, Riot said no more and turned to walk away, His hand tossed in the air as if to say 'forget you, and your damn words'.

There was too much spite in the young man's heart that covered up the hurt he felt of years of neglect and favoritism of his own experimented brother. At least he had him. His Brother.
