Mm, I think they're both badass and/or pathetic in their own right. Well Sephiroth isn't pathetic, just Cloud, but that doesn't *really* take away from his awesomeness... Okay, just a little...
Yes Cloud did kick Sephiroth's a**, but he is the good guy/main character. Of course he's going to. Who wants to play a game where you fight your way through everything, finally make it to the end, and the bad guy kills you? Yeah. Exactly.
So no matter how pathetic Cloud is for being hung up on a dead girl, [and the wrong girl for him -coughTifacough-] he will always beat Sephiroth, for he is the good guy.
Bow down to the good guys, because they will always kick a**.
No matter how awesomely awesome the bad guy is.
