- Byakuren: Well, can't argue with her being youkai Jesus now can I.
- Aya: ...her camera still sucks.
- Alice: Alice is a yandere.
- Yukari: She has the most broken power of anyone in the series, but she seems to moreso enjoy outwitting her opponents. Perhaps like Alice only more successful. And lazy.
- Sakuya: Canon Sakuya kind of seems to be an airhead of you ask me.
- Flandre: Flandre's theme is okay but overrated, and although she literally has the power to destroy as she pleases, she's moreso interested in 'playing' with her, ah, victims.

It doesn't feel like ZUN at all until you get to the ending scenario after you finish your game, where that looks like good old terrible ZUN.
The PC-98 art looks like ZUN was doinking around with MS Paint and made a random Miko Loli with purple hair.

Speaking in all honesty, I'm one of those freaks who likes the fan art (no offence to my fellow fans of ZUN's art).

But one thing I will say that kind of bugs me is Kanako's right index and middle fingers in MoF. They look super long! (And I mean Jafar from Aladdin long!)

I dislike the fact that ZUN cares little to not at all about improving his drawing skills. His drawing style is too mediocre. Although I admit he really did a good work on UFO's artwork; I don't know why, but it gets significantly better than the last games..

Wow! I guess being a monk that got sealed away for it's sins can give you the ability to contort your arm :S

However, I do like Byakuren as a character XD

One word. Yuka.

I love most of the power-players in Gensokyo, especially Yukari and Flandre. Yukari isn't stupid, she has the right combination of character traits that make her seem like more than a super-powered instigation machine. Her activity in Gensokyo (SSiB included) has been little more than the youkai version of Shikieiki's work. She pushes people in the right direction, but I will give that she does it nine times out of ten because she's getting something out of it. Still, I like Yukari, I really, really do. For all her critique, I have to think that her personality and behaviours show her as a realistic and approachable character.

Flandre, Suika, and Remilia are also examples of characters I think balance out well, despite people's nagging about powers. Suika's an oni, she has a strong moral code of honor that guides her. She's easy-going and fun-loving. Flandre, while extremely unstable, isn't outright malicious. She's a shut-in, but as her playtime with Marisa showed, she has the potential to both overcome her social issues, and learn to control her power via the Danmaku system. Remilia, her sister, is annoying and childish, I realize this. Truly, I do. However, despite this she has also begun to develop over the time she has been featured in the series. I like to see the characters as they grow, and so far I've found few characters that I honestly hate.

Except Yuka. Who literally combines all the most frustrating elements of Gensokyo's characters into one package I am loathe to even think about. Unlike Yukari, she doesn't bother to think of anyone besides herself. She's entirely selfish and abrasive, (to a point where the way most of the fandom portrays her honestly makes me sick) despite her position as a youkai of nature, she apparently cares little for anything around her except for the next person she can 'tease a little.' Unlike Flandre, she has complete control over her power, she just doesn't care to bother preventing herself from decimating the surrounding area when she gets into it. Unlike Remilia, and here's where my biggest gripes are, she's not only a spoiled, annoying, abrasive, sarcastic instigator, but she does it almost entirely for giggles and good times.

Now, I'm well aware that she's quite powerful in terms of Gensokyo's residents. However, I'm also aware that she's outclassed in every way by at least one other being. Yukari has her for personality and tactical prowess, Flandre and Suika for power, Byakuren for magical ability, and practically any living being in all of Gensokyo has a personality that's exponentially more pleasant that Yuka Kazami. Yes, including Remilia Scarlet. Any day of the year.

Based on her character alone, I'd honestly wager that Gensokyo isn't afraid of her- they just wouldn't want to spend more than five seconds around her if someone paid them Komachi's salary for five years. Considering the current time-line in Touhou, Yuka's 'prestige' as a youkai has gone down considerably- much to my amusement, actually. While she remains a so-called 'top tier' character, her position is being filled by more and more characters with each game. She wasn't ever the strongest to begin with, she's certainly not nearly as frightening- if even at all- as annoying and unlikeable, and so-far I've been no happier than to see her vanish immediately after her arrogant cameo in PoFV.



For those of you with very little patience: I hate Yuka. With a passion few people can match.

There are in the more recent games, actually. I can't remember where it first was, though, because I only did significant amounts of continuing when I first started.

Unless you count Highly Responsive to Prayers. That had it.
