well, back then, from what I recall, I would love to swim against large incoming waves, kinda like to strengthen my endurance.
I know, that's dangerous, one time, this big wave came in, about 4 times my size, it came down crashing on me, and I spun around in the water, I admit, I was scared, but I got a grip, and managed to reach the surface. :p
if I had a board, I would try to surf, its not that hard, but I can just ride on it, not actually stand on it, never tried and that's because I don't have balance in water. whee
