Two tails drilled into Hitomi. One from the front and one from her back as her fist drilled into the injured scorpion. Kon made herself very large and busied the scorpion with a quick dive. Opening her talons, Kon aimed at that damnable tail, held high in the air. Dammit, Hitomi. I can't leave you alone for a second, can I? And you, you b*****d. You're dead. I'm going to rip that tail off of your scrawny little body! Kon let out a shriek as she closed her talons at the jointed tail.

Hitomi felt the sting of two new wounds opening. She didn't care. She was close to passing out, but she wasn't going to let something as trivial as death stand in the way of her fighting. Kon swooped into the battle and grabbed the beast by its tail. Hitomi raised her fist and aimed it between this one's eyes. She was going to make it suffer for hitting her in the back. It snapped a claw at Kon. We're almost done, Kon. Just this last b*****d before we can rest.

Angry screeches filled the air once the first scorpion collapsed. Shinratsu had made one slight miscalculation: though he was able to incapacitate the first scorpion in a single strike...its siblings were well able to smell the corpse of their sister. And they were furious, as angry screeching filled the air. It was useless for him to hide: they had spotted the pale-haired Hyouton prince, their many eyes having followed the sunlight reflecting over the wire attached to the shuriken, still pierced in their sister's body. Pincers clinched at the air, as if they had wanted nothing better than to rip him up. Which was true in many aspects. This insolent pup will pay.

Kon and Hitomi struck at the same time. Kon with her beak at the beast's tail and Hitomi aiming another deadly punch at its forehead. This is how it should be. WE should outnumber our enemy. Kon wanted this to be over. It was all fun and games until Hitomi got injured, and then all Kon wanted was to get it over with, to get her out of danger. There was only one more scorpion, and while it could do some damage, Kon seemed to have its attention now, keeping Hitomi out of harms way for the time being.

Hitomi's hand crunched against the scorpion's shell, and she saw it visibly weaken. That was good. That meant only one or two more hits and it was gone. And Kon was helping her. This bug was as good as dead. Finally. We can rest in just a second. It amazed her how brittle these exoskeletons were. These must be really young. And if these were the babies, what could their grandparents look like? She shuddered.

Kon dodged another pinch and raised her body to put all her strength into a squeeze with her vice-grip talons. As Kon raised for her attack, she watched Hitomi raise her fist again. This might be the combination of death blows. Kon put herself behind her attack as she watched Hitomi turn her blind eye to the attack, showing that she had, indeed, put herself behind hers, as well.

One down... With a deft hand, Shinratsu maneuvered the strings and the shuriken came flying out of the corpse, unraveling back like a top as the force uncoiled the wire that was wrapped around the shuriken's middle area. Returning with dull clinks against the metal of his gauntlet, he snapped them back into place between the metal finger guards. Hm...funny...it's not moving... And then it hit him, like a ton of bricks.
Oh no! He killed it! But in a single strike...?
But there was no time to panic as... Uh-oh. Shin thought, his sharp eyes and ears not missing the racket. Ah...the scorpions were pissed that he had killed their sibling. Watch the tail, watch the tail... The poor boy chanted in his head as Shinratsu narrowly ducked Poison's swinging tail...only to be bashed right in the abdomen by Strength.
This mission...sucked... He thought faintly as he was sent flying ten feet back. Gritting his teeth, Shinratsu tilted his weight and somersaulted in the air, landing a fair distance back, but on his feet...the soles of his sandals creating a long trail in the sand.
According to the books on Iwa's native scorpion population that he had read...the corpse attracts more scorpions. Now, he would love to get out of here except that... These two scorpions particularly want him dead now...
Shin sweatdropped. Since he was at fault for killing a national animal, er, insect...the villagers are going to freak, when they find out... Worry about staying alive until they get their hands on him, first... But he should take care now. Then there's one way to do it... Taking out Strength first was the priority. He tossed one of the retrieved shuriken (by maneuvering only two fingers and not the whole hand) at the two scorpions, but purposely missed.
What was important rather was the wire that followed. It flared brilliant blue with chakra channeled from the boy.
Ayame Tori (Murderous Grasp)

Hitomi felt the cracks in the scorpion's shell widen, exposing the soft flesh underneath. As she looked at Kon and noticed that the scorpion's tail was cracking and splitting, she smiled. This was over. True, the scorpion was still alive, but it was only barely so. Hitomi's hand was covered in gore, and she raised it one last time to put an end to this miserable creature's pitiful existence. "Wrong place, wrong time, friend."

The two scorpions, sensing danger, backed off slightly. Who, which one...which one would this pup be aiming for... The shuriken leading the wire missed them, but with its semi-radial path, so came clear the wire as sunlight reflected off of metal. Their instinct was righteous, too: for as the wire just barely rounded around a boulder, it sliced off cleanly the top. This technique...this Ayame Tori...clearly, the wire was about as dangerous as a sword. Strength was sliced cleanly at the side but Poison, being slightly smaller and more agile, had managed to just barely avoid contact. The force of the throw, after all, had decreased after slicing Strength.
But then, it became clear. The boy had never aimed for Poison in the first place. His target was Strength. His aim was to incapacitate the greater danger first, and the rest would be a cinch.
