Akihi was getting colder and colder by the moment. He finally took his robe back from Aidan, appreciating the extra heat now trapped, but he still shivered. They weren't too far away from the cottage where the others were, despite his wishes; physical exhaustion did not allow him to travel far, so he settled for the first area he could sit down in without ending up sitting in the snow.

His companion, Aidan, had closed his eyes once more, though Akihi wasn't certain if he was asleep or not. He still remained quiet, just staring up at the sky with a blank expression. What would happen to him, to Aidan, to any of the survivors? Would they starve to death, get slain by man or beast, suffer from some sort of disease? Or would they bow down? The sage hugged his legs to his chest, biting down on the inside of his cheek.

No thinking about that. He scolded mentally, his gaze drifting to his companion before focusing at his feet. I'll just go with the--

He turned suddenly, hearing movement behind him. "Who's there?" His hand rested on the Fire tome laying close by. Was it a foe, or was it an enemy? "Either way, they're getting closer..." He murmured softly under his breath. Picking up his staff and tome, he spared one last glance at Aidan before pushing his way towards the foliage, heading in the direction of the sounds.

Akihi nearly smacked right into Joshua. He let out a startled cry, flailing his arms backwards before bringing the Heal staff in front of his body, as if suggesting he was going to whack Joshua with it if he dared to attack. A moment later, though, he saw the soldiers chasing Joshua. The sage flipped open the tome to a worded page and pointed the orb of the staff right at the approaching solders. "Fire!!" A fireball soared right at the soldiers, striking one of them directly in the chest. He turned to Joshua for a moment while flipping to the next page of the tome.

"Are you able to fight?"

Joshua ran into someone which surpirsed him and brought his sword up to cut whoever it was when he saw the man set fire to one of the soliders behind him. Turning around to face away from the sage he gripped his sword and looked back down to his wound. "N-not really. I'm hurt pretty bad." But even as he said that he avoided a lance barely and swung down slicing a deep cut into the soliders back.

The last solider that was on his tail crashed through the underbrush towards them luckily for Joshua this guy was holding an axe. Ducking the mans clumsy swing Joshua pointed the sword upwards and the man impaled himself on it. Pulling his sword out he winced again. The vulnuary had done some good but he was still not out of the woods his face was covered with dirt and blood and snow, his robes were ripped and tattered. He wasnt looking his best.

He grinned through the pain. "You want to make a wager?"

"A wager? Now?! Are you mad?!

Akihi twirled the Heal staff around (and nearly whacking himself with it in the process), pointing it towards Joshua. Magical energy was focused and in a moment a blue light surrounded the swordsman, closing his wounds. He couldn't spend too long with it, though, for the soldier that Joshua slashed in the back was now up and trying to skewer him with the lance. With a quick chant and shout, though, the soldier was set on fire as well. The lance-wielder screamed in pain and ran away, leaving Akihi and Joshua alone.

He turned back to the swordsman, focusing on the Heal staff once more to finish the healing. Once satisfied, he leaned against the staff, tome in front of him and closed, though part of his thumb held the spot of the next page. "I don't have anything to wager, though. I'm penniless." He flicked some hair out of his dark eyes. Exhaustion was settling in again... pretty soon he would have to rest or he would just collapse. "I'm sorry."

Joshua ignored the man running away from them. There was gambeling to be had.
"Oh come on a little bet never hurt anyone? And we dont need to wager money it can be anything... hmmm how about a favor?" Joshua grinned through his pain although it healed his wounds it did nothing for the general soreness his body felt. They wern't out of the woods yet.

The sage looked like he was about to collopase so Joshua offered him his shoulder to lean on. "Anyway I bet you we wont make it out of here alive." He said beggining to walk through the forest. Not sure of the destination. Just knowing that some very bad people were after him. "Well a wager can't be made with out an introduction can it. I'm Joshua." The boy was really talented Joshua's life was no longer in any immidate danger but Akihi couldn't be counted on much longer. During the Grado war he had met many healers and knew from Natasha that healing took a lot of effort.

"Well I'll just have to keep him alive wont I." He thought to himself.

"Ah... thanks." Akihi gladly wrapped his arm around Joshua and leaned against his shoulder. He walked slowly, making sure not to stumble. "A... favor?" He repeated slowly, blinking. His interest in the wager was increasing by the moment. It could be rather interesting, to have a bit of fun in this rather dark time. And it's just begun, too. He reminded himself with a small sigh.

"I'm Akihi." A small smile came to the sage's face, though that immediately faded when he remembered something. He left Aidan behind to assist Joshua. Aidan was (probably) still right where he left him.

"Uhm... Can we go that way?" He gestured towards the direction he came from. "I healed someone earlier and he's still over there..." The sage was worried for Aidan. After all, Aidan did have a sword in the gut until Akihi pulled it out. It took time to recover from something like that even after the bleeding stopped. One would be temporarily weaker due to the massive amounts of blood loss. It was already a miracle that Akihi was able to heal Aidan before his life slipped away.

I'm... gaining companions through healing. He thought tiredly, glancing down to look at the Heal staff in his hand. The sage would have laughed if it was actually appropriate. How funny...

(( Erm, I don't want to leave Aidan behind, so I'm going to talk to his RPer the next time I see her to see if she wants to stick a post in. xD
And yay, Akihi has friends finally~ Poor boy. You may be less shy in WISW? compared to normal, but you still are bad with socializing. ;D ))

OOC: To bad its an alternate canon lol If Joshua and him meet they wont be able to rember this... Unless you want to post in the welcome thread with Akihi (Really its been two days and out of Joshua Jaren and Derrin Jaren's the only one to get any help..... if you call being arrested for public nudity help)

IC:
"So Its settled if we die you owe me a favor. And if we live I owe you one."
Then Akihi said something about another survior. Honestly Joshua was a little shocked At hearing this. "You mean someone actually got out of that mess? Speaking of which how did you escape? I dont rember seeing you on the battle field... in fact the only one who I saw and reconized was Garcia... I hope he made it out."

Joshua began walking towards the direction in which the sage had specified. "Hey good job out there.. so far youve saved two people then." He smiled at the sage.

The two new friends trudged across the snowy landscape war may be terrible but it has a funny way of forgeing human kinship.

A careless assassin had charged Leon before he could get an answer from Adele, and luckily tripped over his feet before the knight could turn around and lay into him. He'd also luckily missed with that sword (they weren't meant for throwing!) and it was only the (maybe foolish) rules of chivalry that were stopping him from axing Jaren at the moment.

Instead of axing him though, Leon pulled out the shackles that he'd just been issued as an officer not too long ago, clamping them down on the obviously inept assassin. Just to make sure the prisoner wouldn't die, Leon poured the Vulnerary on his wound before carrying the weight of the other person over his shoulder. This time he didn't ask for an invatation. He walked inside the log cabin where the others were, and sat Jaren down in front of him. "Threw a sword at me 'e did. Obviously 'fter Eyris, or wha's left o' it... I'll be waitin' for 'im t' wake up, and make 'im talk..."

"She's fine, she's fine, she's sleeping, dear..." Turning from Rei's inquiries for a moment, she grasped her husband's hand tightly in hers, Ayra ignored the stickiness of the blood that had stained it and gripped him as if never wanting to let go. She wasn't even there when the fires blazed their worst, when the glare of metal outshone the brightness of the inferno that had consumed most of the battlefield...

She bit her lip sharply again, looking back to the main room where her babe slept for a moment; would she dare leave her husband behind, or show her daughter how much her father had been hurt? She decided against bringing Vaherianslyeri out to meet him, instead leaning down to kiss his forehead; her husband's skin reeked of smoke and blood, and even when she pulled back, she could smell the stench of war lightly peppering her lips.

Ayra didn't pay any mind to Maiara as she left- what good would it do to apologize? 'Oh, sorry, but I know Rei can heal decently and I don't know what you can do! I needed the job done right!' sounded a little pretentious, if not sarcastic and scathing. Best to let her leave and walk off whatever her problem was.

"I'd be glad for your help, Adele." Managing a weak smile as the girl made a motion to leave- but for what, she wasn't quite sure- Ayra turned her eyes to Rei, who had helped to heal her wounded beloved. The smile, just as before, was shallow- though it never reached her eyes, the sense of overwhelming gratitude was something that words never have done justice to.

She leaped up with a start at the sound of steel striking wood, and she turned to look at her husband only once before dashing out. Vah was in the living room- her baby was already starting to stir, crying in that mewling way that babies did when they were confused, not scared. Stopping only to cup the child's face- and thus comforting her- Ayra drew her sword and pointed it immediately at the familiar intruder's throat as she looked up, finding Jaren slung over Leon's shoulder.

Looking up at familiar face, irritation and fear still marred her view of others- while she gave them a look that wasn't particularly scathing, she didn't look particularly pleased to see any of them. Not while there were too many questions left unanswered.

"Who the hell is this, Leon? And who threw a goddamn sword at the door? Tibarn's wounded, damn it, we don't need more attacks!"

"Uhhh owww... My head..." Jaren stirred softly opening his eyes slowly and finding him face to face with a man who had sharp featuresand a girl with a sword at his throat. "W-who are you?" Suddenly he rembered everything. "So foul demon you have taken me to your lair have you! and these are your accomplises?" Jaren glared at the assorted people. "So you are the reason why all those people are running away from Eyris!" Jare reached for his sword and found himself not only in shackles but his favorite sword wasnt by his hip.

"Wheres my sword?" Jaren questioned his captor. "Are you afraid that if I had my sword I would call upon justice to your evil ways?" Jaren was gaining speed and volume now. "And just where is your mauthe dog by the way? Feasting on the bones of children I presume? Your going to feed me to him are you? You and your evil wife! Well I will fight you!" Jaren ranted his little heart out and at the end of it suddenly headbutted Leon causing a dull thunk. It probably didnt do much to Leon because Jaren wasnt very strong. He stood up very unsteadily and stared at Ayra waiting for her to move the sword was still at his throat and he waited for the strike that would end his life... Maybe he could dodge... Unlikely but he was fast. He prayed he would be fast enough.

Maiara was sitting in silence. Fine, she had to be here, and maybe it was better to stay than to run off in a huff and freeze to death in the snow, but Charon was still outside. That... creature... is a Mauthe Doog, yeah, but... he deserves to not freeze either, right? He hasn't tried to attack us beyond that initial wariness, Maiara thought. She brushed her long hair away from her shoulders and rose to her feet. I'll just let him in and--

The sword embedding itself into the door gave Maiara good reason to leap in fright, and in one swift motion, she had her Elfire tome out and her hand pointing at the door, flames swirling around her fingertips. She gave a long, steady breath as Ayra began to handle things, what with that purple man--apparently named Leon--coming in with some unfamiliar man over his shoulder.

Maiara slowly lowered her hand, and the flames dissipated into wisps of smoke that soon melted into the surrounding air. She stared; was this man serious? She didn't lower her tome, not after Jaren started to scream like a madman and literally whacked his head back into Leon's.

Yeah, Ayra was going to be cutting up someone in the next few minutes.

Maiara quietly went towards the door, keeping one hand at her Elfire tome. She opened the door once more, trying to ignore the sudden cold that seeped through the opening, and beckoned to Charon. "C'mon... you'll freeze out here," she told him. "Don't just stand there. Get in here." Ayra was more than capable of handling that insane man. She doubted Ayra would want her help, anyway.

But the Elfire stayed out, just in case.

Adele Rystda

PostPosted: Mon Sep 07, 2009 11:36 pm

"Good." She was rather pleased that she wouldn't have to force the girl to come back inside. The man and the dog remained as they were outside as she trudged back in with the girl. As she took a reluctant seat into a chair, Adele's eyebrow arched quizzically as an unnatural sound reached her ears. She paid it little mind, however, and knelt beside her in the chair as Ayra came back into the room. "This is my friend. Her name's..." She trailed off, intentionally leaving the statement open for her to complete. For her sake, it'd look better if she did.

The girl didn't have time to respond, though, and the air was interrupted by a loud thud and the blade of a sword sticking through the door. Adele shot up in alarm, but her reaction wasn't nearly as fierce as Ayra's. Or the girl's, for that matter - she must have been a mage, because that was an Elfire tome in her hand and she looked ready to use it. She knew she'd made a good decision confiding in this girl.

Adele strode over to Leon (whose name she'd learned from Ayra) and nodded at him. His words were unintelligible, but that was a problem for another time. "Lemme deal with this, Ayra," she murmured, drawing a handaxe from her side and bashing the intruder's head with the handle before turning it and holding the blade to his throat. "For the love of Elimine, shut the hell up! There's a baby in here tryin' to sleep, we're all scared shitless, and you barging in here spouting asinine notions isn't helpin' our mood any! You're lucky Leon here's got you chained up, otherwise there wouldn't be anything stopping me from throwin' you back outside." Her grip around the axe's handle tightened, sending a crack from her knuckles through the stunned silence. The axe stayed at the idiot's throat as she turned her head to face Ayra. "Are you okay?"

Her head then turned to the girl, who'd gone to the door to let the dog in. "Hurry up and shut the damned door. It's cold out there. And stop being moody and introduce yourself."

Needless to say, Leon WAS caught off guard completely by being headbutted. He didn't like using the move himself, it usually left him dizzy and unable to think straight. Having faced worse though, he recovered from the blow quickly. Oh, how tempted he was to slam his boot on the prisoner's back, but he had more pressing matters to attend to.

Surprisingly, he wasn't all that scared of Ayra. Again, harsh words were another thing he'd grown used to, and he knew better than to shout back. That could only end one way, and it wasn't pretty. "Lady Ayra, 'e threw 'em, I say. 'E threw th' swords thinkin' I'm some kinda Beas'master, when I just happened t' be in th' same area as th' wolf there! Thought 'e was one'a Siegell's, but I guess I was wrong..."

He was intending for Jaren to hear that explanation and to believe it. Leon was no liar.

In the meantime he was amazed on how easily (and comfortably) Adele shouted the words that he so wanted to say towards the obviously clumsy myrmidon (especially had he known who was here and what state they were in). He hoped to the Hero Anri that he wouldn't end up her enemy.

Jaren reeled from the blow to the head... unfortunately for the others it knocked him out.... again... he woke up on the floor looking up at a women with an axe to his neck a few minutes later when he came to. As he ha fallen he had heard something about a baby and even in this crazy situation he lowered his voice out of respect. "Hey! Whats the big idea!" He gulped as the lady with the axe tightened her grip. Looking away from the frightening lady he listened to the man with the accent trying to make heads and tails of what he said. "Whoa whoa slow down a bit there. Wolf? No no no I'm not scared of wolfs.... that my friend is a mauthe dog... how can you not know what they are?! If your not controlling it then why weren't you killing it! Those things are beyond evil! And what pray tell is a Siegell? I' was just on my way back home to Eyris when I came across you and--" that was when Jaren noticed that yet another women was holding the door open for the mauthe dog.

"What in the name that is all sacred are you doing?!" he cried out forgetting about the baby entirely. Raising his shackled hands he knocked the hand axe away from his neck as he rolled backwards onto his feet quickly into a crouched position. Turning he sprung towards the door and slammed it shut pausing only to grab the hilt of the sword and tug it out pulling it inside with him.

"Are you insane?!" he asked the mage by the door. remembering the hand axe he ducked back into a crouch just in case the berserker decided to send it his way. While doing this he yanked his sword from the door and held it in his shackled hands turning to face them he asked quite exasperatedly "Who are you people!"

Maiara gave a harsh glare towards Adele, but it quickly softened. The girl was trying to help her, so... wasn't it best that she try to go along with her? Maiara moved to gesture again to Charon, hissing something to him to hurry in before she had to close the door, but before she could, the unfamiliar boy was shouting again.

"I know what a mauthe doog is, thank you very much. I sort of am from Jehanna," Maiara notified him, her voice arid. Her eyes darkened as she moved to reach for Charon's neck--if she could get the scruff of his neck, she could drag him inside--but Jaren was lunging and the door slammed shut, very nearly closing on her fingertips.

Maiara stared at him for a moment. After a few more seconds, she lifted her left leg and slammed it down against the small of Jaren's back, with the intention of knocking him into the floor. If it succeeded, she would plant the same foot hard onto the same area. Even if the skirt fell properly back over her leg, she knew there was little chance of the prosthetic staying completely hidden. But it wasn't like she could hide it forever, right?

"In case you haven't noticed, I think personal prejudice sort of doesn't have a place here right now. Like Adele said, we're all scared shitless. We don't need you making things worse by acting like an asshat."

Maiara paused, then looked over at the others. She tried to hide the sudden uncertainty on her face--Were they going to appreciate the sudden intervention, or would they not?--by giving them a small smile and waving with the hand that held the Elfire.

"Right... Maiara. I'm Maiara. Sorry... um, about earlier. I guess."

Jaren was getting tired of being knocked around by... well everyone he had met today."Gah!" He cried out as he was knocked to the ground. "You mind letting me up?" He growled at the mage. Even someone with a slow temper like Jaren's will begin to get pissed off after being bullied this much when the women finally let up a bit on his back he Picked himself up off the ground and standing up again he cracked his back as it was sore now from being abused so much.

"Thats a heavy kick you have... From Jehanna oddly thats where I'm from... but if your from Jehanna and were around during the stones war... then you should know how evil those things are! And its no personal prejudice they eat people! Its like being friends with an angry bear." He sighed and seathed his sword back in the sash around his waist.

"Maiara? I'm Jaren." he put out his hand... well hands as they were still shackled together.

He looked around the room especially at the guy he had attacked. "Uhh sorry for trying to kill you.. But still why didn't the mauthe dog attack you? And you mind letting me out of these?"

Adressing the fine lady who clocked him on the head with the axe well he simply glared at her again...

"Well I told you my name now how about an explanation of why a bunch of armoured and battle ready people (And monster) like you are gathered here?"
