Well, you could always do futuristic because then you have technological advancements on your side. This one MMORPG game I play (Anarchy Online) is set in the future, but because it's not fantasy, they still have something similar to magic.
The premise is that in this world, there are nanobots. There are different programs that these nanobots use, but because the nanobots are so small, it is often interpreted as magic, whether it is healing, or offensive 'spells'. Of course, instead of mana or magic, you have a nanopool which of course replenishes itself over time.
But ultimately up to you how you do it. I'm just giving you ideas if you decide to do sci-fi or futuristic. Modern is good too though.

Oh yeah, Eien, I'd use one of your banners, but considering I'm still new to Gaia, I really don't know how.
No, I don't want a thousand posts telling me how to do it, because I'll just wander over to JB's place and they can give me a hand with that. I think that banner is pretty cool. Also, it's your post for Vampire Talisman, but I think we should wait until it gets moved.
Luft? You up for moving the RP into the guild?

There's no way to actually move an RP in the guild. Threads can't get transfered over. What I was planning on doing is moving the plot and characters posts as well as everyone's last posts (quoted obviously) and a link to the thread for future reference. smile

*Still holding onto plushie of Seto and snuggling him and kissing him every now and again.*
The Rp i'm going to start is called "The Tech Pirates." May place it onto the guild today. ^-^ So everyone can plan a character or two and get there minds round the system of how this RP works.

Oh! THAT Seto! Well, I'd half to agree with you on that one...But I'm more of a Malik girl myself.
I'm not one for Vegeta though...Actually, none of the Dragon Ball characters tickle my fancy...
I'll take Miroku though!

Ah but the lovely, lush Seto Kaiba ^-^
Anyways i'm going to have to ponder off and make some dinner. *Rolls eyes* Then do a dance work out, then wake early the next day and get me hair cut. >.< My life story, oh and then scuttle off to work. *mutters curses at it.* Anyway will post later. So hungry... *Grabs Seto and drags him with her.*

Ah, anime fandom, is there anything more cute. I actually write some fanfiction myself about just about every americanized anime. Yugioh, DBZ, Inuyasha, Trigun, Gundam, the list will go on forever. Though, I don't know if you guys would much care for it, it tends to get quite graphic, and it is yaoi... Hehehe, I love that word...

When it comes to anime fanfiction, I think there has yet to be an author to surpass the length of the entire Just Won't Die story by OneShot (good friend of mine too) which I believe is starting to approach 13mb in pure text.
Of course, that is quite a crossover one too, but still quite a good one, IMO. Unlike many fanfiction authors, he actually (used to) update quite regularly with large-sized updates and is able to keep people interested.
Heh, I still end up going back and re-reading just about the whole series about two to three times a year. It's one of those that you just start reading, and before you know it, you've covered A LOT.
But that's just me.
*shrugs*
