Vera scanned the hall at Patrick's words. It was just an empty hall, with nothing but dust and the opened window on the floor, and the three doors on the walls. Vera knew one door was locked, another was not, the other she hadn't tried. Well, she never did know what lied behind the door she had opened a few minutes ago. Vera walked briskly towards it, her eyes captured by the beautiful frosted glass. Tearing her eyes away, Vera refocused her attention, and pushed at the slightly-opened door with her good hand.

((O__O!!! We got moved to the advanced RP forum! This sounds like good news, but then people already seem to be dropping out of the RP and I REALLY hope that this won't make things worse...

Now to update the layout...))

((Hi! I'm here, okay! I just got my life eaten randomly. Will be back soon. Sorry about the whole disappearing act. Oh, and I think LunaZol is the same, but I'm not positive.))

Vera's eyes widened as the door slowly swung open, faint scent of roses floating out towards them through the opened doorway. Vera stepped into the room, her eyes glazed over, dazed by the gleaming white walls and floors. She walked towards the large bathtub sitting in the centre of the room, as if drawn to it by some strange force that she couldn't resist. Absent-mindedly, Vera sat on the edge of the bathtub, a finger running along the inner wall of the tub. Not a speck of dust. Totally different from the cobwebs and dust covered hallway outside. Vera's head half-turned to the doorway, her eyes unfocused, to where the outlines of a tall man stood.

Seeing Patrick, her mind slapped her in the face mentally. Gripping control of herself once again, Vera looked carefully around the room, her eyes narrowed, searching for anything that might help the fainted Codi. Seeing the big towel basket beside the tub, a smile spreaded over her face. Vera bent down, and drew out a face towel from the basket. She walked to the back of the room, towards the white marble sinks. Vera held a corner of the towel between her teeth, and turned the tap with her good hand. Cold water started running swiftly into the sink. Vera took the towel from her teeth, and held it under the running water, her hand momentarily numbed by the freezing cold. Feeling the towel was thoroughly soaked, Vera turned off the tap with her wet hand. Icy cold water dripping down rapidly from the towel in her hand, she hurried back to Patrick's side.

Vera stood beside Patrick, holding the soaked towel above Codi's unconscious face. "Sorry if the water soaks you, Patrick." Without waiting for an answer, Vera squeezed the towel as hard as she could, watching as the cold water splashed onto Codi's face.

Patrick peered around the doorway to scan the oddly clean room with a baffled gaze. The hell? Unable to comprehend why the bathroom would be so clean, he decided to brush it off and watch Vera. A neutral expression had falled over his face as she came over with the soaked towel. He simply shrugged in response to her words, un-fazed by the ice-cold water seeping down his pant leg from the towel. Besides, the girl's health was more important anyway.

((Perhaps I’m intruding on some important plot thing, but…Connor? oO Who’s Connor?))

Muse was rather bored.
Her arms folded around her knees that lay curled under her chin, she watched as Codi’s subconscious flickered with memory and sensation. She was faintly reminded of the fluorescent lights lining the white ceiling that she faced so often in a life long forgotten; she remembered watching them endlessly, no matter what the doctors would say to her. They had no meaning, but the lights did. They signified her very essence, as she
knew they were what kept her alive in that place.
Then one day, the light in the corner began flickering. Muse remembered watching it for days on end, waiting to see if it would come back in its full glory. The doctors noticed her distress and offered to send in the janitors, but she refused to let them touch it. The lights were hers. To replace them would be to replace her very soul.
And so the light continued to twitch; time passed and it grew steadily dimmer. Soon Muse forgot to sleep, as it was too dark for her comfort, the change of brightness hard on her eyelids when she was able to close them. Then it was only a dull murmur, and Muse forgot to eat. She migrated to the murky corner and waited faithfully for it to restore itself. So long as she was healthy then so would be her lights.
And she waited.
But that was many years ago; already the process of wading through these memories caused Muse some confusion and discomfort. She had grown used to the darkness here. She had never realized how nice it was to be away from that glare…
The thoughts intensified. Muse stood, head throbbing with lack of caffeine. A stimulus was pressing hard on the barriers. Bored with the silence that Codi’s unconsciousness presented, she allowed it to seep in, flooding the darkness with cold.
”Time to wake up!” Muse cackled, and was consumed.

Codi’s eyes fluttered, dull brown underneath her glasses, splashed with tiny droplets. Carefully she blinked—once, then twice—until the world around her swirled into view.
Was she home?
”I’m afraid not,” ventured Muse, an unusual amount of confusion in her voice, ”I would know if you were dreaming. Plus, isn’t that the girl who tried to kill herself by running into a door?”
Codi’s gaze swerved to her right, and she saw Vera wielding the damp cloth that had awoken her. Cautiously she craned her neck, getting a better look around.
”Where am I?” was the question gnawing at her brain. Fear crept through her limbs in the form of a quiet shiver, to which she felt her face grow hot and eyes become moist.
”Oh, you sissy,” Muse fibbed comfort with an imagined roll of her eyes, ”No use getting worked up. You’re not dead, are you?”
Good point. Codi sniffed, quickly reaching up and wiping her tear ducts. Her head throbbed.
Both Codi and Muse spoke this time: ”I need soda.” she stated blandly.

[[Ack, sorry. Too used to a character from another RP. v.v]]

Patrick smiled sincerely upon the awakening of Codi and busted out laughing when she spoke. He made a show of craning his neck to look around the room before looking back down at her. "I don't believe there's any 'round here." An eyebrow rose as his smile took on a more worried tone. "There's water. and do you think you're alright to walk?"

((Hmm, well if we've got Elesariin, BeHappy, LunaZol, Lahren, Noise, and cheeta then the RP's still in the 'safe zone'. That's enough to keep the RP going at any rate, but it the story's probably going to move a bit slower than it would with more people.))

Quote:
Suddenly, a loud 'bang' is heard (in the three-door fork area). As if a door has been slammed shut. It is quickly followed by the sound of furniture being moved, or more accurately, dragged across the floor and pushed up against a wall... Although judging by the vibrations coming from the cobweb-covered door, the furniture is probably being piled up like a barricade against the door. From when the door was slammed, to when furniture seems to be being dragged, the sound of stomping feet is heard. The stomping doesn't seem to be made by anyone or anything heavy, but whatever is making the sound seems to be putting a lot of effort into it.

Rose was occupied with her thoughts when two things interrupted them simultaneously. First was the quiet vibration in her pocket. She knew what that would be. Most likely a reprimand. She was glad for the other interruption, because that meant that she could put off reading that message. The second interruption was coming from the hall where the three people had disappeared. One of the girls was shreiking at the top of her lungs, and Rose's head snapped up. She stared off to the left for a moment, and then decided, the hell with the group, she was going to investigate. She walked cautiously into the hall just in time to see the guy carrying one of the girls into the room with the frosted glass door. I wonder what happened...
The door stood ajar, and as Rose approached, she could hear the guy and, presumably, the girl that he wasn't carrying fussing over the other girl. Rose stepped to the threshhold to see that irst, they were in an immaculate bathroom, and second, the guy was carrying the girl who had tripped on Rose in the basement. Well, this is about as odd as all else.
Knocking on the door, Rose said softly, "Is everything all right in here? I heard the commotion in the hall..." She didn't wait for a reply, though, because there was another noise, this time coming from behind one of the other doors in the hall she had just passed through.

Patrick turned his head and looked over his shoulder to where he heard another girl's voice come from. Opening his mouth to respond, he slammed it back shut with an audible 'click' when another odd noise reached his ears. Just as his eyebrows furrowed and a low growl began the journey from his chest to his throat, his phone vibrated in his pocket. Damn. Probably just him bitching at me. A grimace crept lethargically upon his lips at the mere thought. Regardless, he knew that he'd probably need to check it. He'd just have to wait though, since his hands were currently full.

Ignoring the continuously vibrating phone in his pocket, he easily covered up the grimace that had been plastered on his face and put on a concerned smile. "I think it is. This one's awake now." He dipped his head lower to point to Codi and raised it up again afterward. Things are getting very weird around here.

Rose had turned her head in the direction of the noise down the hall momentarily after she'd heard it. A clicking sound behind her made her turn again, and she thought she saw the flicker of a grimace on the guy's face, only to be replaced with a caring smile and his assurance that the girl who had tripped on Rose was okay. Had she just imagined it? This place could play tricks on the mind, she knew. Dammit, if only I knew who to trust...
Swallowing the questions she wanted to ask, Rose said instead, "Well, that's good to know. But I don't think that I got properly introduced to anybody. I'm Rose." She would have extended her hand, but it seemed that both the guy and the girl who had run into the door were already preoccupied in that respect, so she just stood there awkwardly.

Vera's worried face broke into a beam when Codi woke up. Vera was about to reassure the agitated girl, when someone knocked on the door. Vera looked up, and saw another young girl standing in the doorway. A girl whose face... looked somewhat familiar...

Bang! Vera's head turned sharply towards the sudden noise from the hallway. Her ears pricked up, Vera could hear people in one of the room further along the hallway, someone moving, dragging heavy things around in the room, feet stomping... Her eyes had shut tightly together, as if trying to block the noise out of her ears. A vain effort, no doubt... But, was it? The noise had disappeared.

Vera opened her eyes at the girl's voice. She gazed at the people around her, who didn't seem to have heard anything. Probably just my imagination. Vera's eyes turned back to the girl in front of her, who had just introduced herself as Rose. Vera smiled, but her smile was a bit shaky, and forced. Vera looked up at Rose's familiar face, she was sure she never met her before, but why did she... Of course! The first face she saw in the house, the girl holding the lighter in the dark. "Hi, I am Vera," she held out her hand, in what she hoped was a friendly manner.

The girl who had run into the door introduced herself as Vera and stuck out her hand toward Rose. Rose shook it with a smile. Being friendly and chatting with people was generally a good way to try to figure out whether they knew something, if not finding out what they knew...The phone vibrated again in her pocket, reminding her that there was still a message in the inbox that she hadn't read. Rose kept smiling and hoped that no one had heard it buzz. Out of habit, her hand drifted to her pocket, but instead of drawing out the phone to look at it like she would have anywhere else, she grabbed hold of her lighter and started flicking it on and off at her side.
