I know that it has already been mentioned, but Japanese-online.com is a very good website... And I love their semi-new look!
I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but Pimlseur language programs are one of the best ways to learn the beginning of a language! Pimsleur is the best because all you need to do is listen and respond. No memorizing or quizes. Though in order to more fully understand a language you'll need to memorize tons of random vocabulary that Pimsleur doesn't teach you.

I had a look at japanese-online.com and thought it alright. I learnt A wa B desu, but then didn't need the site anymore as I found lessons near home instead.

I should get around to learning Japanese sometime. It's such a pretty language...
I'm sad that my school doesn't offer Japanese anymore.

When watching anime I prefer subs. Sometimes I'll here a character say something along the lines of "tekku dasai" I know I probably spelled it horribly wrong or something... I have no idea what it means and I hear it all the time (while watching anime) What does it mean and what is it that they are actually saying?

I have no idea what it means and I hear it all the time (while watching anime) What does it mean and what is it that they are actually saying? -te kudasai: I'll try to explain but I'm not competent in linguistic language in English sweatdrop In Japanese this form is WIDELY used because it means -more or less- "please" . example: "Please open the window" is "Mado wo akete kudasai". It's the most simple polite form of the verb when you speak to someone - there are various levels of "politeness", it depends on what kind of "relashionship" you are with the person you're talking with. Intriguing, isn't it? wink I hope I helped you... biggrin
