"Oh, it's alright," he said, waving Johnny's apology off with his hand as if he had completely changed his mind and was no longer upset. He turned to Hel and shook his head apologetically. "No, Hel, I thought you were staying in your room tonight so I ordered one of the pages to bring your dinner - juice included - up there."

He didn't give any explanation to Fals as to the fact that Dansworth was, indeed, a woman, and that Hel had only mistaken her for a man - as many people probably did. He simply chuckled slightly and shook his head. Hel would figure it out eventually.

He smiled at Dansworth, who had devoured her meal already. "Well, children, I have an important announcement. All four of you will be joining me tomorrow. We have much work to do, so make sure you all eat your fill, and get to bed soon. It shall be a long day tomorrow. As for myself, well, I won't be joining you tonight. There are....matters which require my attention. So I leave you all with well wishes 'till the morning. Good night!" He winked at Johnny and Hel, nodded at his two newly hired mercenaries, and turned to head for the door. One more little duckling to check up on....

He stood a few moments after Nikolas exited and bowed to the two mercenaries, afterwards bowing to Hel. He was embarassed. He had made a fool of himself twice this night, and there were ways to make him remember not to make those same mistakes again. He exited, climbing the stairs, and entering his room. He locked the door behind him, his eyes set on his closet. As the doors slid open, he pushed his clothes aside, retrieving a small box out. He slid the cover off and let out a sigh. This was going to be a long night.

Amoria Castle, Dining Hall

Dansworth sighed. With the departure of Johnny and Nikolas, she felt it was time to leave as well. Dansworth said good night to Fals and briefly to Hel, then proceeded to call on a nearby page to lead her to her room. Upon entering the room, Dansworth locked the door and went to bed. She kept her sword next to her, as she slowly drifted of to sleep.

Fals said good night to Hel as well before asking someone nearby to direct him towards where he would sleep. After dismissing him, the moogle locked the door and shut whatever windows were open. After a brief search of his room, extinguished the lights and went to sleep on a bed that was far too soft for his tastes.

Tal
Tribal
Rosa
Sleeping Dog Inn

He waited until Akara and Remetheus had drifted off to sleep, then stared down at the words he had written on the page of the journal:

March 21st, 2010

I went to the Spring Festival in Relm with the rest of the band, despite myself. And there, I not only encountered two new friends, but I also came across the rogue mercenary, Fallyn...

I've always hated him, but...He's gone too far this time. The next time I see him, I guarantee you, he will bleed.

And now we - that is, me n' my new comrades, Akara and Remetheus - are heading to Gabbiani. We walked all the way to Rosa tonight, and met a White Mage named Lot. We're all leaving tomorrow morning, after we get some sleep. Hopefully that b*****d Fallyn hasn't gotten far. If my family runs into him, he won't.

I don't know what's going on exactly, but I guess we'll all see eventually...

~ Tal Ziekden

He didn't know why he had used yesterday's date in the journal entry. Since it was past midnight, it was now technically the twenty-second, not the twenty-first. But he saw no harm done. He closed the book, as well as the ink jar, and set it all aside in the drawer of the sidetable before lying down and slowly drifting off to sleep.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

It seemed as if no time had passed, when, hours later, he slowly cracked his eyes open, then slammed them shut to block out the sunlight streaming in through the window. He felt as if he had not rested at all. But he knew the time had come. He had slept long enough. They had to get moving.

He quickly jumped off of the bed and stomped on the floor despite his dreary state of lucid sleep.

"Good mornin', you two. Come on, let's get the show on the road! Ain't got much time to waste today. The sun says we're almost to noon!"

Nikolas
Palazzo
Amoria
Castle, King's Chamber ---> Private Quarters

"And how is our little king doing?" Nikolas asked, in the most repulsive, bittersweet, condescending tone one could imagine. He stood in the doorway to the royal chamber, staring at a luxuriously decorated bed upon which lay the frail, withered king of Amoria....the man upon whose shoulders the well-being of the entire country of Palazzo rested....at that point...

The room's lights were all put out; not a single candle was burning, and the electricity to the chamber was completely shut off. Only the faint, pale light from the moon and the stars shining through the curtained windows, entered the room.

The king opened his eyes with a bit of a struggle, and gave Nikolas a venomous glare. If looks could kill, Nikki would most likely be gone by now.

"What is it to you, you vile sack of filth?"

"Oh, my, what a temper. I suppose you haven't improved much yet....You must be feeling awful." Nikolas finally stepped into the room and began to walk around, examining the furnishings and antiques piled together in an orderly fashion befitting a museum. "But rest easy, Your Majesty....All of the problems facing our dear kingdom are coming to an end. I plan to purge this entire city of all the disgusting little insects who have made this process so....tedious."

"What....What do you mean?"

"All the terrorists are going to die tomorrow. Have a particular message you'd like me to relay to any of them?"

"You wretched son of a harlot. I hope you don't expect to get away with this....Because you won't."

Nikolas threw back his head and laughed - a cold, sharp, lucid, mirthless laugh, mocking the terminally ill king. "My dear king....We already have. We've infiltrated your kingdom from the inside and torn it apart without any of your friends being any the wiser. And after tomorrow, I'll be putting it back together...my way. And you, my dear king, will graciously bestow rule of the kingdom to us, your beloved regent and counselors....as it will become obvious that your wretched illness will soon become the death of you."

He laughed once again, as the king attempted to spit in his face....the saliva merely drooped to his chin. Not having the strength to move his hands to wipe it off of him, he simply lay there, still sending Nikolas a death glare. Nikolas withdrew an embroidered handkerchief from a pocket in his robe and wiped the spittle from the king's face before going on.

"And once we crush the rebels tomorrow, not a single soul will lift a finger to stop it...because they don't even know it's happening! It's the perfect crime."

He waved at King Astinos, not sparing any more words, and left the room, shutting and locking it behind him. After brushing his right hand through his crimson hair, he headed off at a quick pace, back to his own room within the castle.

Well, now it's time for some sleep....It's going to be a very long day tomorrow....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a new day began to rise, so to did the young man, his dark red hair made to look a bit lighter as the sun's warming, empowering rays beat in through the window. He sat up and stretched his arms, silently yawning. The "children" would be waking up soon.

"Time to go to work...."

Johnny
Palazzo
Amoria
Training Yard

Johnny stepped forward, the axe arcing over his right shoulder, cleaving into the dummy strung up pathetically to the tree in front of him. He snap the hilt back, sending his body in a spiralling descent, the axe twisting above his head, gashing open the opposite rib section of the dummy. He, again, snapped the weapon out, kicking off the tree to give himself some distance. As his body doubled over, he pressed out with his arms, sending his body a few feet into the air. Johnny smiled, the ever so slight breeze pushing his banes from his sightline. He had been practicing this technic for quite sometime, and he had finally perfected it.

His feet collide with a light thud on the ground, and with no hesitation, the axe is sent flying at the dummy's head. THWACK! Stuffing pours out of the sides of head, Johnny's most prized possession a few inches deep into the wood behind the doll. He walked to the tree, ripped his weapon out, and slung it over his shoulder, before turning toward the castle and making a slight dash for the door. He had been awake for quite some time, and after his 'lesson' last night, he found it was best for him to regain his strength with some vigorous training.

"Damn," he thought, his pace increasing with every sweaty mush of his boots, "I am going to be late."

Dansworth
Palazzo
Amoria
Castle guest room

Dansworth woke up as the sun hit her eyes. The night had been uneventful, which she found slightly disappointing. Quietly slipping out of bed, Dansworth moved to the window and peered out. Her window happened to overlook the training yard. It the bright sunlight, she watched as Johnny ran back to the castle. "I wonder how early he got up?" she thought. Leaving the window, Dansworth got ready for the day. when she finished, Dansworth left the room, looking for something to eat for breakfast.

Fals
Palazzo
Amoria
Amoria Castle, Second Floor, Empty Guest Room --> Second Floor, Corridors

Fals woke up, opening his eyes having sensed activity outside of his room. A quick look around it showed nothing was moved, but then again he would have woke up if someone had been in his room in the first place. Hopping off the bed, the moogle padded over towards his belongings sitting on a desk, quickly checking them over again, before grabbing them.

A peek behind the curtain of one of the windows in his room showed that it was already morning. He played a few tunes on his flute as he waited for a few minutes, sitting on the bed as he contemplated on how he should act in the presence of others. Finally, he stashed his flute somewhere inside his blue shirt.

The moogle left the room, intent on searching for someone he knew.

Remetheus

Rosa
Sleeping Dog Inn

The small mage blearily sat up at the sound of Tal's voice. Remetheus fumbled with his hat as he put it on his head, slowly opening his eyes as he adjusted to the sudden brightness which was thankfully dimmed a bit by the hat. His clothes were wrinkled a bit, though that didn't change a thing considering their previous state.

He made a quick check of the things in his pockets, trying to see if any of them had been dislodged during his sleep. Satisfied that nothing was missing, he grabbed his staff which was nearby before standing up, using the staff as a crutch to support himself, still a bit sleepy though waking up more and more with each passing moment.

Lot

Lot opened the door to where the others were sleeping. "Morning all, I brought coffee," He said holding a tray with four mugs of coffee, a carafe of cream, and a small bowl of sugar. He walked to the table in the room and set the tray down. "I thought you guys might need this," He said, taking a cup for himself. Lot took two scoops of sugar and started stirring his cup of coffee obsessively.

Tal shook his head with a distasteful look planted on his face. He couldn't stand coffee, unless it had plenty of sugar and a specific kind of vanilla cream....which they didn't have here in Rosa.

"Nah...I'll pass. I'm gonna get changed, then I'm goin' out into the town to see if I can pick up some stuff. The rest of y'all, if you need to do some shopping while we're here, get it done soon. We'll leave in about half an hour, at most."

He nodded at all three of them, in turn, then grabbed his dagger and other items and rushed out of the doorway. He had sent the clothes to be washed last night....They should be done by now. This bathrobe wouldn't be very helpful in the forest...

As the man briskly walked toward the main hall, he saw his adopted son rushing back into the castle from the training grounds. The sight put a small smile on his face, but he wiped it away with ease. Today, he would maintain his poker face perfectly. There would be no emotional distractions like last night.

"Johnny...You're up early. Good. Would you go gather your new team mates, please?

He stopped, letting his axe droop slightly lower than normal on his back. He let out an inaudible sigh, straightening his compusure, standing with dignity. "Yes, my lord," he bowed, turning toward the staircase, and bolting up it. As he reached the top, he cleared his throat, and let out a shrill scream. He then bolted down the corridor, leaping in front of each doorway, allowing the full weight of his body to come down with a vicious thud. He, then, turned, ran back down the hallway and disappeared into his room before anyone could see him. He was going to suit up and get ready for the big day. A grin popped up on his face. "Today is the day..."

Fals
Palazzo
Amoria
Amoria Castle, Second Floor, Corridors --> Ground Floor, Corridors

The moogle took his time, exploring the castle and creating a mental map of it. No one had noticed him yet, which was somewhat odd since he wasn't trying to be inconspicuous. Then again, most people didn't look down.

A sharp, piercing sound suddenly filled his ears and he was overcome with the urge to clap his hands over his ears. Fals didn't have a chance to do that as it was over as soon as it began. Whatever that was, it took him by surprise. He sort of wished someone else had been nearby though, just to see how they would have reacted to that noise.

Perhaps it was a call or alarm of some sort? He had no way of checking, though there didn't seem to be any panicked hurrying or deafening noises that usually accompanied an emergency. Having made up his mind, Fals headed towards the direction of where the sound came from.

Dansworth
Palazzo
Amoria
Amoria Castle, Ground floor

Having never explored this part of the castle before, Dansworth was busy looking around when she heard a scream followed by a thud. "Sigh, I bet that's the axe-weilding maniac," she thought to herself as she turned and headed in that direction.

As Dansworth continued through the maze of corridors, she ran into Fals, heading in the same direction. "Hello there, Fals. Good to see you survived the night," she said cheerfully. This was a common greeting in Dansworth's line of work, where the life expectancy was only a year or two. "I take it you heard that sound too," she added.

Fals continued heading towards what he thought was the direction from which the sound came from. There seemed to be a lot more people on the ground floor than on the upper levels so he took care to act as carefree and adorable as possible.

He showed no sign as surprise as he heard Dansworth's voice. "Good morning, kupo!" Fals replied cheerfully, looking up to face her as he continued walking. "I heard it too. What do you think it was? I hope it's nothing bad, kupo."

Dansworth

Dansworth continued walking behind the moogle. "I have my suspicions," she said to herself. "Nikolas is probably looking for us and sent one of his lackies to rouse us. I wonder where he disappeared to," said Dansworth as they exited the corridors and entered the Main Hall. "We should have met that Johny character on the way. Oh well."
