User ImageWell, the boy was perceptive, but he didn't seem particularly creative. Granted, those were two completely different parts of the mind, but Mariana was beginning to have hopes for the kid. Judging by the way he spoke, he seemed a little defeatist, as if he wasn't even going to try to do something--a bad choice, considering the current circumstances. Well, so much for his judgment, too. This wasn't any fun; she had to find some way to salvage it. Then, things decided to get interesting. The boy hit the bar and rattled it, drawing the attention of the guards. If they weren't in trouble before, they sure were now. She liked trouble.

Unfortunately, the boy started going off on a course she didn't like. Was he turning himself in? No way! Did he really think those goons would hesitate to kill him? This wasn't good. "I wouldn't dooooo thaaaaat," she sang through clenched teeth. She really hoped he knew what he was doing. But... in case things went bad, she could improvise. She took off her sweater, just in case.

MYTHOS

Mythos saw Mary take off her sweater. She was preparing for battle. He couldn't have her get hurt. He had just made friends with her. If she was harmed it'd be all his fault. Mythos therefore slowly got up and raised his hand. He hated showing defeat in any possible way, even if it was for pretend.

"Over there!" the fat man screamed, pointing a stubby sausage finger in Mythos's way.

"Stop right there!" the man in the ponytail ordered.

"What do you think I am doing idiot?" Mythos said in a low montone voice. The low voice gave the right effect that Mythos needed from the five men. The man with the ponytail ordered the three armed men to advance towards Mythos.

It was then Mythos closed his eyes and thought very hard. He needed to make whatever was about to happen look like an accident. So far everything was going well. Nobody had spotted Mary yet and this looked like it was going to be an easy get away. Throwing all of his emotions out the door, Mythos took in a sigh and then opened his eyes. The three men were getting closer and closer to Mythos when all of a sudden the whole ceiling started to creak and moan. Everybody stopped in their tracks, even Mythos looked up and tried to put a curious look on his face for effect; hopefully this worked. Then all of a sudden the whole ceiling cracked in two, sending debris and items from the floor above tumbling down on top of the three armed guards. Nobody had time to react and within minutes, Mythos and Mary were blocked off from the ponytail man, the fat man, and the now three dead guards. Mythos had done all of this with his mind, and as far as Mary could know, it had just been a freak accident.

Mythos turned to Mary and tried to look shocked. All of these emotions and Mythos had to master all of them in order to seem normal! It was too much. "Well..." Mythos acted in a semi-shakey voice that actually sounded kind of authentic. "That was terribly lucky."

User ImageAs the boy rose, she quickly began working on her back-up plan. She loosened her shirt, her belt, and her pants. If the guards began to get curious, they wouldn't think twice about a young couple finding love where they could. At least they wouldn't have to get into battle. She loved to fight, but against those odds, even she balked at the idea. Thankfully, neither scenario had to play out. Instead, she had to contend with the startling fact that the ceiling was suddenly caving in. She flinched, cringing visibly. As the building began to collapse, a great din erupted as the three men were crushed. Now that the debris was blocking off the way forward, there was little chance she'd get into any fight. I guess we should try looking for something we can handle, she supposed.

When the dust cleared, she looked back at the new kid. Now, she was no mind-reader, but faces she could do just fine. He seemed a little shaken--which is understandable; anyone would be in this situation. But behind that emotion, there was some obscured non-sequitur. Something just wasn't adding up, and alarms were going off in her head. What was it? She couldn't quite place it, but she was certain that something was not right. As the boy commented on their luck, it struck her just how fishy this was. He seemed surprised all right, but why would the ceiling just cave in like that, right then and there? "Hmm... a little too lucky, if you ask me. Stay on your guard," she said. Here there be supers, she joked to herself.

She considered their options. If there were a super in the vicinity, there was a good chance it would follow them. Whether the super was friendly or not was another matter entirely, though. Honestly, she didn't like the idea of someone following them around that she couldn't see. Perhaps, then, she would be able to shake the guy. "We should head out. We don't need any more attention drawn to us than necessary. God, and here I was trying to lie low..." she grumbled. "Well, as long as we're not, I might as well pay a visit to my fence. I have a few choice words for him," she added, cheering up just a little. Hey, he DID want to see some hot spots...
