Robert gave a nod to Lola and smiled. "Thanks." As the top coordinators were picked, Robert saw that he had landed in Fourth place, just good enough to move onto the battle round. Then the four 'cards' on screen shuffled around. Robert was paired with another male trainer from Sinnoh who used a Buneary in the opening round. With that, the battle round was on

Sunkurn, let's go! The trainer called out, bringing the grass type pokemon out to fight.

"Julia, take the stage!" Robert called out, sending his Nidorina out for battle. "Now, let's get the clock started. Contestants, go!" Vivian called out.

"Sunny Day!" the trainer called out. The Sunkurn utilized the called move, causing the stadium to light up as though the stadium were outside. Robert had seen enough battles agianst his grandmother to know this was a set up for Solar Beam abuse and possibly Morning Sun, a recovery move thatwas more potent under sunny day effect. "Julia, let's bide our time." Robert spoke calmly. If the attack was what he expected, it would mean that his foe would fall right into his trap.

"Let's teach them to be cocky. Solar Beam!" The trainer called out. Perfect Robert thought to himself. "Slight left, get in close and use Collateral Damage!' Robert commanded. Nidorina chgarged right at the solar beam and hopped left of it, letting it pass by. By the time Sunkern had recovered from using the move, Nidorina was already in its face. The powerful combination of Scratch, Double Kick, and a super effective Posion Sting, as well as the perfectly timed dodge did a nasty number on Sunkern's health and points.

"Sunkern, use Solar Beam at close range and push it back!" the trainer called out. Robert knew Nidorina was strong agianst grass type attacks, but he could also tell the trainer was trying to get some breathing room for Morning Sun. "Julia, stand your ground fire away with Posion Sting!" The Solar Beam made direct contact, sapping some of Robert's points, but Nidorina refused to budge. She fired posion needles into the solar beam, and then once Solar beam had ended, Sunkurn would be greated by a facefull of posion sting, fainting it. With only 45 seconds left on the clock, Robert had won his first contest battle by KO.

Robert watched the battle intently, watching what moves her pokemon had readily available to it. She certainly knew how to use her attacks effectively, and she more than likely already saw his Collateral Damage setup. Once it was his turn to face off with Lola, Robert entered onto the stage. "Alright Julia, this time it's serious! Go!" Robert spoke, bringing Julia out onto the battle field.

Robert watched as Squirtle used Aqua Ring. It was a move that would certainly be a nuisance. However, Robert had an answer for it. but first he needed to make a set-up move. "Julia, get in close and use scratch!" Robert called out. However, this was a fluke move. He wanted to have Lola use an attack, any would do. He kept himself ready though, chancing that she might allow Julia to get close enough to actually use scratch. For that, he had an evasive plan ready. In any case, Julia rushed towards Squirtle with the scratch attack ready.

Robert gave no sort of expression to give away the fact that she did as he wanted. "left, posion sting at full power." Robert spoke. With Squirtle still in the attack, it would raise Julia's chances of nailing it with Posion Sting and hopefully envenomating Squirtle, which would make her Aqua Ring useless, since any damage she healed for, she would take just as much in damage from posion if all worked out. Julia dodged left and let loose with a hail of posioned needles at Squirtle.

Robert saw the attack bounce off the protect, however he knew that protect wasn't very reliable when used in succession. With every use, it's chance to fail would rise. "Julia, keep pouring on the posion sting and zig zag to keep yourself from being a sitting target." Robert spoke. The protect wouldn't last forever. However, there was more than one way to win the match. But for now, he would press the attack.

Robert watched the oncomming attack. "Run into it and brace yourself, then Collateral Damage in reverse!" Robert called out. Julia ran directly into the water pulse, baring the pain of the attack. As she emerged, she charged in while spraying a rain pof posion needles at Squirtle to try to both pin and posion it until she was close enough to attempt a double-kick followed up by and upwards scratch.

Robert couldn't do anything about the reflected damage of the posion sting attack, which left Julia even more weakened, but Mirror Coat didn't work with physical attacks, only special attacks. Squirtle would have to suffer with the pounding of both Double Kick and Scratch. But Robert wouldn't stop the attack there. "Now, let's press the attack. Fury Swipes!" Robert called out. He needed to try and keep Squirtle from making an attack, or else Julia was certain to faint from the next attack. Julia began to swipe at Squirtle with fury, putting everything into the attack and always pressing forward.

The ice beam passed overhead after water pulse fainted Julia. Robert took out his pokeball. "Julia return." He spoke before looking down at his pokeball. "You did your best my beauty. Now take a good rest." Robert spoke before offering his hand to Lola. "Very well played." He spoke.
