ooc;; I'm sorry, Griffen, I didn't realize you didn't approve of it. Then again, Cirro's a Clouded Leopard , who are generally solitary creatures - they hunt by hiding in trees and falling from above, on top of their prey. As Cirro was just out for a walk in the forest, hanging from his favourite tree (though I didn't write this in my intro post, I guess I should have...) and two Muntjac deer passed below him, he just killed the fawn - Muntjac deer are quite small, so it wouldn't be impossible for a CLouded Leopard to catch one. Yeaa, I know, I heavily researched the topic of Clouded Leopard, their hunting styles and their usual prey. sweatdrop

As for the issue of the prey in the den, I didn't know, sorry. Where I roleplay'ed with cats before, the warriors brought in fresh-kill for the elders and queens (she-cats expecting or nursing kits/cubs) before eating themselves to ensure the health and survival of the Clan/Pride - it was was also a pride/noble thing that they did. I just assumed it would be the same here, and had Cirro bring his small catch to the Den-Watchers, Zephre and Tami(who ignored me, I think...). I didn't know where else to put it, either. ^^'' I'm extremely sorry, and I'll try not to upset you again. X'DD

[The above is in no way an argument or challenge to your rules - I'm merely explaining why I did what I did. Sorry, again. ^^;;;]

((Its okay its okay, I didn't expect people to know, ^^. The muntjac was believable, just as long as it doesn't happen on a regular basis. Mahora was believable too, don't worry. Kakash, you're all right, let's just say the kills are outside. *uses magical writer abilities*.))

Zephre inspected Mahora's cheek thoroughly. Despite being blind he was a skilled healer, working almost entirely by sense of smell.
"It's deep," he concluded. "But not too dangerous a wound, just bleeding badly." With that he put one huge paw over the cheetah's face as he would do to a cub and began to clean the wound gently with his tongue. Once that was over he applied the leaf paste he had made. "This will stop the bleeding and make it heal faster. Unfortunately it will stain your fur green for a few days. If the wound starts hurting or burning, come back straight away."
He nodded to the cheetah before going to see to Calyn.

Brindle nodded to the other leader, "For the most part. No serious injuries." The tiger looked very troubled. "We need to hold a council. Every head and second. There is a traitor in the pride Bianca, they must be stopped."
When Kiros spoke she listened, smiling inwardly at his eagerness.
"My second is injured." she said quietly. "She was the target of those assassins. Her protection comes first. However. Once that is accomplished...I will not rest until the traitor is caught. The council is our first step. If you would Kiros, I would like you to accompany Calyn and I."
Brindle then looked at the freshly treated Mahora, he did not seem up to much more than rest at the moment.
"Mahora," She called. "I will ask Thela to fetch the outriders, you may take time to recover." From the size of the scratches on his face she guessed the second assassin was a large cat.
"You've either been very foolish, or very courageous tonight. Either way, you've earned a rest. A portion of that meat," here she nodded towards the two kills, "is yours if you need it." Normally as leader she had the right to a portion, but she would happily give it away to a cat who had shown as much courage and talent as Mahora had.

Once Zephre had finished treating Calyn's wounds (which were worse than he expected Brindle knew, but kept this to himself) he poked his head back into the den where Bianca had slipped while Brindle was speaking to the other cats. He heard the tigress' words and nodded before dipping his head in respect.
"You can say that again." He sighed, lying down just inside the den's mouth.
"I believe I still owe the little ones a story."

Kiros looked and was aloft at the news that he would be accomponying Calyn and Brindle. He was still calm and still keeping his reserve. "It would be my honor to accompany you." He looked over to Mahora feeling some sympathy towards him. He said nothing because he realy coulding't think of anything to say that would either comfort or reassure his fellow cat. "I will do my best Mahora." He thought to himself and then turned away and walked as close as he dared to the den and sat outside it resuming his scouting of the surrounding landscape.

The cubs that were with Konya all charged at zephre. "Story!" They all tackled him. Konya got up with a sigh and started to get the cubs off of him. "little ones zephre isn't a toy be good." Some of the cubs began to climb on her as well, she laughed and layed down knowing they'd calm down in a little while. "Zephre i think you should start with there story now." One of the cubs was laying on her head and biting her ear, she just smiled at her and layed her head between her paws.

Bianca watched Zephre lay down next to her. Bianca's place was at the den opening, as it should be. Sophia had fallen asleep under the warmth of Bianca's neck fur. It wasn't surprising, seeing how Sophia was very young and running on her short weaker legs plus crying tucker the poor dear out.

Bianca's ears shifted as she listened to everything both inside and outside the den.

Sahari whipped back to Cirro, changing her mind. "Okay, out!" she growled quietly, baring small fangs at the Hunter. Once Cirro was out of the den, Sahari stallked over towards Bianca, put out. "Are you okay?" she asked her Leader, her voice hushed. She listened to talks of a council meeting, before glancing towards the cubs back in the den. Danial was still sleeping where she had left him, while the others were attacking Zephre, with Konya nearby. She didn't look forward to leaving the cubs alone, even if there were legions of felines guarding them - it was common knowledge Sahari did not trust easily.

Cirrocumo blinked sullenly as the small she-cat turned on him, ordering him out of the den. The Hunter nodded swiftly, and left, sure-footed paws carrying him out into the downpour. He joined his Leader, sitting beside Kiros as he gazed quietly at Brindle. His mahogany-hued irises bore into the tiger, almost unnervingly so, but then he blinked and looked up at the sky. The dark stormclouds were directly above them, though the raging winds were pushing the clouds along. Hopefully the storm would be over soon.

Bianca smiled to Sahari softly, "Oh, yes, I'm fine. Sit with me?"

"I wonder what story Zephre has in store. I hope it isn't too long. The little ones need to be put to sleep soon." Bianca gazed softly as the excited cubs sitting around Zephre and her. "I wonder when I'll have my own cubs..." she thought aloud in a dreaming sort of voice. "This pride is lacking in white tiger cubs," Bianca joked lightly.

She was trying to soften the lastest events. It was no use worrying about what to do until morning. With a night rest, each cats could think things over and reapproach tonights events in the morning.

[I'm going to be gone from Monday (tomorrow) until Thursday evening. But I might be able to get on. I'm not sure yet, so expect an absence ^.^]

Mahora sat absolutely still, his face showing nothing but surprising calmness, and he didn't flinch as Zephre cleaned his wound. It stung a bit, but went numb slightly afterwards. He wished he could resist Brindle's request, wanting nothing more than to go with her to catch whoever did this to him and Calyn. But instead, he merely bowed his head and padded off to the den he slept in, his steps slow and careful.

Jacqueline sat up when Zephre mentioned a story. she did enjoy his tales, and went to sit between Tami's front paws again, her big blue eyes watvhing the blind lion with curiosity and interest.

"Of course," Sahari nodded politely, sitting beside her leader. Compared to the white tiger, the Den-Watcher second was quite small, barely coming up to Bianca's elbow.

"I'm sure Zephre will keep his story short," Sahari smile was less blissful than Bianca's, almost forced but she kept that out of her voice. The shadows hid her mistrusting expression, though as she shot a glance over her shoulder, her misty green eyes seemed to glow affectionately.

"When you do have cubs, I'm sure they will bring much to our Pride, having the blood of such a loyal tigeress running through their viens," Sahari reassured Bianca with a grin. Her tail flicked as her thoughts turned towards her own offspring; she doubted she'd have cubs in the near future, if ever. She was much smaller than many toms in the Pride, and she hadn't seen hair nor tail of another Sand Cat ever since she had been chased away from her mother all those seasons past. This course of thought certainly helped keep her mind off current events, instead concentrating on the events of a long-distant past.

(Holy crap, I'm so sorry for not coming in sooner. I've been very distracted of late. And it will only increase until school starts up again. Damn summer stuff...)

Armine sat a few feet away from the gathering cats, fuming. There was a traitor among them? The only reason he had been oblivious to the situation and recent turn of events was because he was easily distracted some days, and he had been chasing butterflies. Something he did rarely, and was also a little ashamed of doing, but it also made him very angry since it kept him away from something like this. "A traitor among us!? The only thing I can't stand is betrayal. I know every cat here knows that, so who would be dumb enough to do something like this?" Armine could truly be something of a beast when he was searching for a snake in the grass.

If any of the cats were to glance at Armine, they would see the fire in his eyes that screamed 'let me help too!' But he wouldn't interrupt just to ask a question that would be improper. If Brindle wanted him, she would ask, not something for Armine to overstep his station for. He wished he had been trained an outrider instead sometimes. Until Brindle gave him further orders though, Armine had nothing to do. He had been planning on trying to find some food for everyone, but he didn't think it would be a good idea so soon after an attack.

Zephre gave a laugh as the cubs leapt onto his exposed flank. He used his tail to bait some off of him and back into the waiting paws of the den-mothers.
The rest buried their noses into his soft, white fur and begged him to begin.
"Here now, I don't suppose you ever get tired do you?" He asked the little faces gazing up at him with doe eyes.
"Once upon a starry night..." He began with a wink to Sahari and Bianca, letting them know he would keep it short.
"...There was a mantis, and he wanted to catch the moon. Every night he would look up at it and dream of climbing onto it and riding across the night sky for all the animals to see.
One night, as he watched it rise he saw it had caught in the high branches of a baobab tree. Quickly he rushed to take hold of it, climbing as fast as his tiny legs would carry him, but by the time he had reached the high branches, the moon had untangled itself and gone.
'I must set a trap,' he said and got to work the next day.
Many times he tried to catch the moon and each time he could not. Frustrated and about to give up he watched the moon as it grew full again and sank in the sky. He followed the moon until (to his delight) it came to rest on the surface of the waterhole. With a leap of joy he splashed into the pool to try and retrieve it, but each time he tried the moon just slipped through his claws.
Finally in a fit of anger he took up a stone and hurled it at the moon, shattering it into thousands of pieces! The shards flew everywhere and some lodged themselves in his eyes, blinding him. In pain he fled and hid in a bush.
'Oh how foolish I have been!," he cried, 'To think I had as much pride to try and catch the moon...' That day he bowed his head and put both his claws together and prayed. He prayed to the moon to restore his sight to him.
All day he prayed and that night, when the moon finally appeared again he looked up and saw it, sitting there in the sky. The moon had answered his prayers, and taken back each shard stuck in his eyes. And to this day, the mantis keeps is claws just so, to thank the moon for its forgiveness."

((original story by Marguerite Poland in the book "Favorite African Folktales"))

After Brindle had dealt with the others she sat quietly and listened to the healer's story, acknowledging the clouded leopard with a glance and a peaceful rumble.
"The storm troubles you? or is it something else?" she asked Cirrocumo softly.
Just then a familiar scent drifted to her on the wind.
"Armine? what are you doing sitting over there?" It was her way of inviting the old cheetah into the circle of cats she seemed to be part of. In a way she looked up to him, he had the experience she lacked and she was grateful for a cat like him on her team.
"How went the western scout? What are the herds up to?"

((That's fine, I've got my hands full with work as well. I'm afraid character sketched will be a little slow ;_; . Thanks to people who are letting me know they are going!))

Sahari's large ears were well tuned to the sound of Zephre's low voice, and she listened to the story with a soft, reminiscing smile on her maw. She remembered when she had been a cub and Zephre had told his stories then - and even when she was a young Den-Watcher, fresh out of the nursery only to come back to care for the young; then, she had listened to his tales and legends with a sort of awe that was only shone for Zephre and the blind cat alone.

Cirro blinked, and slowly, almost lazily, turned his gaze back upon Brindle. His eyes glowed in the dark, and he saw Armine's silhouette through the downpour; he gave a sort of jerk of his head in greeting to his fellow subordinate, before turned back to his leader. "The storm does not trouble me, Brindle," he replied in a low, hoarse voice. He so rarely spoke up, it was of great surprise to hear his voice. "Though I expect it will soon blow away, look - the winds are great tonight," he added, flicking his ringed tail-tip heavenwards; he didn't answer her second query, though it was the same burden as the burden on his companions. He turned instead to Armine, ears pricked as he listened for the report.

((waveh_xo change your mind about making a cub? I'm going to a friends house today and staying till wed. afternoon so i won't be on much))

When Zephre had started his story the cubs playing on konya calmed down and most were laying around her. She closed her eyes and started to lissen to the sounds around her. One of the cubs decided to paw at her swishing tail while still lissening to the story, Konya smiled and started swishing her tail more to play with him.

Bianca smiled as the story ended and beakoned with a rumble in her throat that it was time for bed. "Enough excitement for one day," Bianca spoke but a to raise her voice over the cubs growing protests. "AhAha.. Do not raise your voices to me. No whining. Bed." There was a slight laugh in her voice while coxing the little ones to find a warm den-watcher t cuddle up with.

Konya yawned as some of the cubs layed down close to her, the one on her head had nodded off during the story. Her ear twitched as she lissend to the sound in the den and outside. She opened her eyes so she could see what was going on in the den.
