Tarra saw out her window the buses of people coming in and had just finished the papers. She sent them tot heir respective areas and smiled at Alice. " you should head down in case they need food "

Alice flushed, then heard John yell. She went down the stairs. "THERE ARE!" she yelled back, but tripped on the last step. She fell down by John, beet red.

Lily looked at the plate John had set down in front of her. She smiled, recognizing who made it instantly. Alice always knew what she wanted. Taking a dainty bite, Lily thought that she would have to thank Alice later when she had a chance. She felt better after a few bites and went back to her earlier day dreaming. She rested her head on her palms and sighed. Lily found herself wondering what Joel was up to right now.

Joel was still in the kitchen having decided he was best off staying where he was. Guests could be filing in soon and it would not do to be caught unprepared. He had quickly set about taking stock of their inventory and scribbling down a few quick and easy dishes should they find the group half starved on arrival. He did not bother to leave this list for Alice, however. Joel rather suspected she already had her own ideas in mind. The kitchen stations were of course clean and prepared with all the necessary tools, but it never hurt to check again. Finally he stepped out into the dining room to give it a once over. Customers rarely saw the kitchen, but it was not at all unusual for them to judge based on the condition of the dining room they were seated in. Seeing Lily actually surprised him; he had been so wrapped up in his routine that he had not at first noticed her. She looked a million miles away and he thought perhaps he should not bother her. So he bothered her anyway. "Is everything alright, Lily? You are letting your meal grow cold."

Lily jumped slightly and looked over to Joel. Oddly though, she had just been thinking about him. She blushed a light red and smiled. Irony had it's own way with her and this time she couldn't complain about it much.
"You know Joel, at this rate you're going to have to warn me before you come into a room. You just might give me a heart attack someday." Lily smiled, happy that he was there.
She looked down at her plate and noticed that she hadn't finished the meal Alice had made for her. Lily felt bad that she had allowed her mind to wander for so long and finished the rest of her meal.
"It wasn't that cold....I'm really going to have to thank Alice for this one. So, are you getting ready for the guests?" Lily decided to ask the most obvious question with no thought of how idiotic she sounded....though that thought was there.

((Basically Joel and Lily like eachother and are talking, John and Alice like each other and John gave Alice flowers, there are guests coming and Alice is commanding everyone (except she's face-planted on the floor of the lobby), and Kira is still in at the desk signing people in.))

Kira put on a smile, and wrote down the names of everyone coming in. she had her drawings hidden inside her bag, and was waiting for someone to ask why she could be so happy with all of these people to sign in.

"I startled you? I suppose I could take to wearing a bell. Like a house cat." Joel smiled a little at his idea of a joke. "There isn't much to get ready, but yes. I cannot leave well enough alone; I am double checking things we have already done. I suppose what I should have done was hide away and have a breather before Alice whirls back in. With more people to cook for I am actually a little surprised she has not returned yet. Maybe she is off taking orders in the lobby." Even Joel was not so sure he was joking about that one.

Alice picked herself up, taking the hot cocoa cup and rushing past the lob- wait. She turned to Kira, surprised. "You're happy taking this many customers?" she stated, more questioned.

Lily smiled, listening to him talk. Her blushing cheeks started to lighten up which was a good thing fo her, she hated the fact that she could be made to blush so easily.
"There really isn't anything for me to do until AFTER the guests start to stay here. I really wish someone would make a mess or something...I have nothing to do, and I've been pretty much sitting here the whole day." Lily thought about an idea for a moment. "Joel....do you need help with anything? I have nothing else to do." Lily smiled again. She really hoped there wasn't anything in her teeth.

Kira put her finger up and said to the customer "one moment please" she looked at Alice and said "not really, but if people see a depressed kid working the counter, Tarra is gonna get after me about it. help me!" she looked back at the customer and finished signing him in, before handing him the key for his room. she wondered where Laurence was right now.

"I can hardly find anything for myself to do that has not been done twice already. Hmn..." He thinks, tapping his chin with the end of his pen. "Perhaps we could check on Kira. She may need some help greeting the guests and whatnot. It's an overwhelming job for a young girl. Not that she isn't good at it; I'm sure she is doing well. I mean, she is very smart. But, you know... oh, never mind. I am babbling. I would like to go spy on my little sister who will likely throw something at me for it while the guests are not looking. Come along?" Joel smiles sheepishly, embarrassed that he had jumped between being concerned for Kira and defensive of her... against himself, no less.

Alice nodded, getting behind the counter. She called the kitchen phone and left a message that she was helping out at the front desk. She then began taking names and handing keys out.

"thanks Alice" Kira said, handing over a set of keys "i owe you two now" she wrote down another name in her fancy looking penmanship and handed over more keys. it seemed almost like they might run out of them.
